No competitions on GN

Please can someone tell me why there is a competition category on here, but never any competitions? Why not just rid of it? In the good old days, there used to be regular competitions, but none recently. I got excited when I saw there were some advertised in early December, but they were removed by GNHQ, presumably because they were spam.
