What a con the birthday treat from Hotel Chocolat is!!! £5 voucher with minimum spend of £5.50. Fair enough. However they have priced their 'selector' packs at £5.45 so you can't use your voucher ..... I bought a selector pack and another one which was reduced as it was short dated (but I wanted it for today!) to spend the required amount .... and the shop assistant said I couldn't do that either!!!!
Is it worth bothering?! 🤣

Agree 100% nannysue45
I know of at least two very popular companies who do similar to this. Offering free delivery or their click and collect minimum spend makes you just miss the spending amount because a lot of things suddenly become 29.99 or 29.94 and so I end up looking for their cheapest items usually some little stocking filler type gift just to reach the click and collect limit however sometimes it helps me to think again about my order. The worst is when it is an item of clothing as then I sometimes consider ordering two sizes knowing I will return one just to get round the minimum total.

For me it would be definitely worth bothering. I love their chocolates. Sadly, my waistline doesn't.

Quite honestly I don’t know what all the fuss is about with Hotel Chocolat. Grossly overpriced and more so this Christmas than last, so I didn’t bother. I’d sooner give someone a box of Lindt.

We went to The Hotel Chocolat when one first opened in the town for a hot drink. Long wait nothing special, think I had the hot chocolate.

And I’d rather receive them Greyduster 😃

Over rated I think too. I was sent a box of unwanted Hotel Chocolat Christmas selection and I didn't enjoy them at all.
They are prcing themselves right out of the market, although chocolate generally is going up in price.

I won't buy them for gifts anymore as they aren't value for money.

I can’t say I’ve ever been over impressed with Hotel Chocolat’s offerings.
What I am impressed with is Friars of Keswick’s chocolates. A dd discovered them, and we’ve ordered quite a few boxes now as presents. There’s a large and very good and varied selection. Delivery when ordering online is nice and quick.

We love Hotel Chocolat liqueurs, especially the Kirsch soaked cherries, far superior to mass produced chocolates. They are pricey but we don't buy chocolate very often so they're a nice treat.

I dislike the products from Hotel Chocolate and if I want to eat nice chocolate I buy Green and Blacks .

Try Audrey’s - top quality and sold by Fortnum and Masons - if you can afford it. Is special cocoa without cocoa butter so very pure.

Could never understand the song and dance. I find their products mediocre, at best. Some of the fruit flavoured chocolates are really unpleasant. Overpriced yuk.

Surely cocoa butter is essential in all decent chocolate?
Manufacturers of cheap "chocolate " replace the expensive cocoa butter with cheaper vegetable fats like palm oil, coconut oil, or shea butter.

Maybe I'm wrong but this is what I've always understood...

On the subject of chocolate, there is a firm called Whitakers, who make good quality chocolate. Very few shops seem to sell them though. Iceland have them at Christmas but not through the rest of the year.
