Tracksuits To Become Standard School Uniform?

Another advantage of track suits is that they are more forgiving of different body shapes. I feel sorry for some children I see going to school in uniforms that must be so hard to wear.

I think tracksuit trousers are useful for the smaller children as they can manage more easily when using the toilet. This encourages independence. For older children I think proper trousers or skirts for girls are more appropriate.

Much better idea tracksuits, regardless what age.
My 5yr old GS has to wear one every Monday with the School logo on it, as they spend the day outside even in the rain, in the outside classroom. He comes home grubby in mud and loves it.

When I was Headmistress, woe betide any girls who didn't wear their kilts properly, lengthwise!
Now, in the 21st century, provided the tracksuits are school branded, and every one has the same, I think it's a good idea.

Teaching abroad for a while, where pupils don't have school uniforms at all, I can't say I noticed any deterioration in behaviour or discipline.

The nearest Primary School to me has the children wearing tracksuits (shorts and t-shirts in summer) on the days the children do PE.

All items have to be purchased from the school uniform supply shop as they all have embroidered school logos.

Two of my GC go there, and they love tracksuit days.

A surprising number of staff spend the day in tracksuits, and not just P.E. staff.
Perhaps track suits will stop Academies charging over the odds for their specific school uniform, although personally I think tracksuits look very sloppy.

Track suits are practical and comfortable but too hot for summer.
Why on earth should children wear collar and tie and blazer?Hardly any adults wear these to work. Formal dress looks silly when bodies are covered with tattoos and piercings.

Our local high school introduced trousers and banned skirts at the start of the autumn term 2025.
The girls imo look so much better than when their skirts barely covered their nickers.

I’d be delighted with track suits as uniform. Easy to wash and dry, much less expensive than traditional uniform.

Depends what your standards are. Tracksuits or skirts rolled up so high that climbing stairs and bending over gives everyone a bird's eye view.

When I collect my 13 year old GD from school later her skirt and those on most of the girls will be barely visible beneath her blazer. It's a school rule not to roll over the waistband but nobody seems to either obey or enforce it. During the colder months black tights lend a bit of false modesty but come the summer, nothing is left to the imagination. Imho, the girls look cheap and do not represent their school in a good light.
I have long wondered why trousers have not been introduced for the girls. I would prefer a pair of smart tailored black trousers to a track suit. It must be hard enough having 2000 hormonal teenagers under one roof. Tracksuits may make life easier.

If school kids are going to wear tracksuits -I'll fit in nicely.
I wear them as soon as the weather turns chilly and until the frosts stop then , I opt for really colourful dresses which make me feel happy .

Near to where I live there is a primary school where the uniform is a maroon track suit. The children look fine and it is obviously the uniform for the school.
The children are very well behaved and certainly not chavs.
I imagine it is easier for the parents to keep clean.

With regard to the girls turning the waistband, over my granddaughter's school had the answer - the school badge was on the waistband and had to be displayed.
