Good morning from soggy Leicestershire.

We need to pop out to the opticians today to swap my lenses over.
One result of DH being in hospital so long is that now we have a blue badge. I had no idea what a difference this has made to our lives. Only problem is that there are so many diverse rules it is hard knowing where and when you can park.
I will have to miss Pilates as someone is coming to tell me why my washing machine is leaking!

Hoping for continuing good news from Marydoll and sending love to the FGTs.

Good Morning everyone from the East Coast. I think we are in for a very cold day.

I am going to walk to a local coffee shop and now I’ve realised it’s Friday the 13th and probably going to be icy out maybe not a great idea. I can be suspicious. I’m meeting my best friend. She’s having a very difficult time with depression. I need to chat to her face to face. We talk all the time but are always with our DHs. The loss of her adopted dog and our other best friend dying from cancer is really taking its toll. I have my grandchildren to keep me up but she doesn’t feel there is anything worth getting up for anymore. It’s sad.

My prayers were answered yesterday and DGS had a great day at school and was super here. He will come for two mornings next week on half term.
Apart from meeting my friend today I haven’t anything else on. While I’m out I’ll pick up a gift for DH for valentines. I might call my dad for a chat this afternoon. Tea tonight will be fish of some kind and vegetables. DH is working hard at the moment and still I can hear him downstairs preparing my breakfast so better go. He is a love. ❤️

Take care today and hope there are moments of joy. 🌼
Thoughts to those poorly and stressed friends 💐

I hope your eye calms down and you have a pleasant trip tomorrow corner.

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s cold at -2°, we’ve had overnight snow and everything is looking very white outside
Good luck with the wild hair day Gingster!
Once we’ve sorted out the car and swept the drive I’ll be off to the gym for a couple of classes, then a bit of food shopping and home.
Enjoy your weekend away Redcar and hope your back is ok and enjoy your family lunch out grandmabatty it sounds lovely
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Grandmabatty Fri 13-Feb-26 07:44:31

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 1° and looks dry. cornergran ouch! That sounds sore. Redcar don't overdo things with your back.
Yesterday I got most of the washing done and dried and cleaned all the kitchen cupboard doors and the front and back door too. I hoovered as usual. I have no idea where all the crumbs etc come from! It's just me and I'm not messy. I couldn't make lasagne as I have run out of pasta sheets, so made a bolognaise pasta bake instead. It was very nice.
Today doesn't bother me. Mum wouldn't go outside on Friday 13th. She grew increasingly superstitious the older she got and was indulged by my brother.
I am going out today despite a very poor night and sore feet. Ds has taken a half day and has invited us all for lunch at a restaurant local to me. So dd, dsil and the boys and me will meet him there. I'm looking forward to it as I haven't seen him since early January, although we are in contact most days. After that, I will probably watch some of the Winter Olympics. Have a good day all

Gingster Fri 13-Feb-26 07:24:25

Good morning all and we have rain forecast after a couple of dry(ish) days.

DGD has wild hair day today. Goodness knows what we’re going to conjure up!
She had her school disco o last evening which she said was great fun.

After school I’m taking her home to her mum . It’s half term next week so I’m praying Dd willcontinue to recover and be fit for the following week . I’ll miss her as she’s a little 🌟.

Housework and shopping today.
Take care all 🌱

Good morning all from a chilly and wet North Leicestershire.

A quiet day in prospect here. We are looking for a new cleaner and have someone coming to see whether she can cope with us. I suppose we could do it ourselves but.......

Burgerologist burgers this evening - the Burgerologist is a man selling 'specialist' burgers from a van (started during lock down) so no cooking and they are delicious.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Good morning from brightening W Kent. Off to Bluewater to use a bank pod and then lunch at local restaurant. Yesterday at art I learnt our local garden centre has changed hands I hope the new owners don’t make too many changes
Best wishes to all

Good morning everyone from mid Essex, dry and chilly here this morning. I think showers are forecast!
I’m not superstitious about Friday 13th, DD1 was born on Friday 13th 50 years ago. A dear friend also had a DD on the same day. We are off to somewhere on the south coast later this morning, for a weekend’s celebrations, a surprise for DD1 arranged by her DH.

I hope my back behaves over the weekend, it was painful yesterday probably due to the gardening I did on Wednesday.

marzipan we discovered the St Erth to St Ives railway branch line one year when visiting St Ives. Such a lovely journey, helped on that day by glorious sunshine.

cornergran your eye sounds painful, I hope the swelling goes down soon.

Thinking of all those with worries of any kind, and hoping the day brings some relief for you.

Have as good a day as possible everyone.

RosesandLilac Fri 13-Feb-26 07:01:56

Good morning, damp and dark here on the hillside in south Glos, I’ve got bigger dog snoozing next to me on the bed because I disturbed her going downstairs for a hot water bottle. I don’t really like dogs upstairs but if I leave her downstairs she’ll start whining. Anyway, she’s fast asleep now.
I enjoyed my trip to the hairdressers for a trim yesterday, bought fish and chips for dinner so no cooking for once.
I have art group this morning, I’ve got everything I need ready to put in the car. It’s a bit of a scramble because I need to walk tiddler first, then shower and change before leaving to pick up two others.
I’m hoping we’ll see some sunshine, everything is so grey and subdued but at least I have snowdrops, crocus, daffodils and hellebores out and I noticed that the hawthorn trees are coming into blossom so at least we’re heading the right way!
Best wishes to you all 🌹

Good morning from a dry, quiet and calm Cornwall.

Spent the day on trains, having bought a Cornwall Day Ranger ticket which meant I could go anywhere all day. We have some lovely branch lines including the glorious St Erth to St Ives. Arriving into Penzance station is always thrilling with its arched ceiling and huge evocative paintings on both walls. At one point I stood on a mid-Cornwall platform in the rain watching huge industrial engines doing repairs. I was joined by a rail enthusiast from Yorkshire and we talked trains for ages. He was in Cornwall for the first time simply to go on our branch lines.

Today I can't Lego-wrangle because I have a dental appointment but someone is standing in for me. Then it's the usual school run, back to my eldest son's house with his children and when he finishes work I'll hop on a bus and meet my youngest son at Wetherspoons for some grub.

GrannyGravy13 Fri 13-Feb-26 06:47:19

Good morning from S E Essex it’s 6° and cloudy.

I have to wake the 11yr old up soon, he is no trouble, he wasn’t sure what he wanted for breakfast, hopefully I will get my orders when he opens his eyes.

Friday 13th is lucky for our family, one of our boys was born on that day and we got married on that day, will probably play the lottery today.

Thinking of our poorly friends and those with troubles 🙋‍♀️

Ashcombe Fri 13-Feb-26 06:44:42

Good morning from a calm and dry Torbay.

Yesterday, we took the bus into town and alighted near the station as I wanted to take DH for coffee at a hotel overlooking the bay. We were having such a good time that we stayed for lunch, enjoying the fine weather and the view of a peaceful sea, in contrast to recent storms.

Whether or not one is superstitious, I like to recall the origins of superstitions. In the case of the date, no doubt you all know it’s because of there being 13 at The Last Supper (with Judas Iscariot being the 13th) prior to the crucifixion on Good Friday.

Hope today is kind to you all. 🦩💐🦩🥰🦩

Gagagran Fri 13-Feb-26 06:42:06

Good Morning everyone from a dark but dry south coast. We had a spring-like feel to the day yesterday which was so nice after all the ran and heavy skies. It puts a smile on everyone's faces to see the sunshine.

WI was very busy with several visitors from a neighbouring WI which seems set for closure. They can't get anyone to take on the secretary or president roles. The visitors seemed to be scoping out ours to see if it would suit them.

A Tesco delivery is due this morning but otherwise nothing much planned. I do have a new book to start which is definitely going to feature though. Also continuing to put olive oil in DH's ears to soften the wax therein!

Kind thoughts for all GNs with struggles of any sort and hopes for a better day with some ease and calmness.

cornergran Fri 13-Feb-26 06:39:05

Morning Mick, morning All. Our corner of Somerset had some overnight rain, a fine morning ahead (with luck).

While yesterday’s eye clinic appointment had some very welcome good news about progress unfortunately the injection process was a difficult one. The staff member struggled, as a result my eye is very swollen and sore. A first fortunately. Next bout isn’t for 12 weeks which I’m delighted about, real progress from the initial four weekly injections.

Friends coming for coffee this morning, I anticipate some teasing about boxing rings. A quiet afternoon. We’re off on a day coach trip tomorrow with an unreasonably early start, seemed a good idea when we booked it. I’ll catch up with you all on Sunday.

Thinking of all with mountains to climb, have the best day you can everyone.

harrigran Fri 13-Feb-26 06:37:53

Good morning from a dark NE where it is 1° with a forecast of sleet all day.
Sil came yesterday morning and we had the shopping done by lunchtime. Treated ourselves to éclairs for our afternoon coffee.
I didn't think I needed any help with technology but when we went to the study all three computers needed updating. One is DH's and I just keep it for sentimental reasons as it has a lot of photographs stored.
Maybe wash some bed linen today and free up some space in the laundry hamper.
Have a good day.

Bellasnana Fri 13-Feb-26 05:48:49

Good morning from Malta where the wind has been force 8-9 since yesterday evening, it sounds quite alarming at times but is supposed to drop to 6-7 by noon.

Otherwise a sunny day with a high of 16°C is forecast.

Had the boys yesterday afternoon, both were in happy moods and I really loved having them. I’ve got them again this afternoon so will look forward to that. Also have my usual hair appointment. Not the best day to have one’s hair done with this wind.

Managed to keep Winston and Milo apart yesterday so there were no incidents! Speaking of Winston, he has just come in to my room and is doing his usual inspection. I will miss him when he goes home later today.

Hope you all have a good day.🤗

GillyMo Fri 13-Feb-26 05:47:59

Good morning from Kent where it is a very dark and still five degrees.

I woke up feeling positive, then remembered the date. shock

Yesterday I watched the women's half pipe snowboarding. So impressive what those women can do. There were a lot of falls though. I wonder if the falling snow during the competition did not help with visibility perhaps.

Today I need to sort out my seeds and plan my veg plot. I already have packets of onion sets and some seed potatoes. Food is so expensive now that I want to grow as much as I can this year. I didn't grow enough potatoes last year. I also gave too much space to curly kale which then got infested by slugs. The tiny slugs hide in the folds and then I was wasting too much water and effort washing the kale before cooking.

Hope everyone has a Good Friday without mishaps. Best wishes to all.

grandMattie Fri 13-Feb-26 05:32:20

Good morning from an unusual, dry day. We are even promised sunshine, the penalty is a lower temperature.
DH was rather superstitious, I’m absolutely not, so whatever the dat, it doesn’t bother me at all.
A quiet day yesterday, with our t’ai chi class in the middle. Sewed, knitted, cooked, dusted (! 😲)
Much the same today, with Spanish thrown in. Half term next week.
Hope those in distress/pain/sorrow have a better day, th3 rest of us count our blessings.
