Georgesgran sorry to hear of your dental woes.
A mask is good but hopefully you aren't in pain

Georgesgran Mon 16-Feb-26 12:19:53

Just an update!

Dental appointment a disaster!!!
I shall be wearing a mask until next Monday!! Why me???

Not seeing the funny side!

A late good morning from me 🙋‍♀️

I took a sleeping tablet last night as I was exhausted and hadn’t slept well for what seems like forever, consequently I am late and rushing around like a headless chicken 🤷‍♀️

Will catch up with your posts later (hopefully)

thanks flowers

Cossy Mon 16-Feb-26 10:01:06

Morning. Lazily not up as early as many of you, but we actually have a bit of sunshine here in (not so) sunny safend, long may it last 🙏🙏

Have the best day folks flowers

Morning all from West Lothian. A very late start this morning 😳. I had great plans to get up early and go for a swim but they didn’t materialise. I woke up at 5am this morning feeling irrationally anxious (not sure what about but it was horrible) and when I I eventually got back to sleep that was me till about half eight!
The weather here looks to be bright and sunny which is a welcome change from yesterday, which was just horrible. We went through to Glasgow to babysit for 5m old DGD (2nd time we’ve done it) to allow DD and her husband go out for brunch. We were treated to a ‘poonami’ 😳 which involved a full change of all clothes! Some of it even got on my jeans and new jumper. Despite that, it was lovely to see them all.
Today I’m off to visit my oldest friend who I’ve known since we were in 1st year of secondary school.
Thinking of everyone who’s unwell and pleased to hear about your DIL’s progress Marydoll

Good Morning from a wet Co Armagh
It was a beautiful sunny morning when I got up ! But it has deteriorated
Lovely sunny day yesterday
I’ve lots to do today , but not the inclination, it was hard parting with the duvet !
I’ll put a wash on , it will dry on the clothes horse
Wishing us all a pleasant day

Good morning from a damp northwest coast. With DD to a light show here in the evening. Very busy and effective. Good for the town, pubs and restaurants busy. We had to queue and DD stopped someone pushing in. A free event.

Back home to roast chicken and a quiet night. Today to our second meeting with our new financial advisor fifty miles away. DD is driving, which pleases me.
Thoughts to FGT and all🌺

Good morning from a dry NE, sounds breezy though.
SIL visited yesterday and we had dinner together, pork medallions were disappointing, they were quite tough but all the vegetables were delicious.
He left at 8pm so he could talk to DD in Brussels because of the hour time difference.
DD is enjoying her new job which involves animal health. Her previous job was in health and safety of detergents but the employer was dreadful and her health suffered as a result.
Today is a quiet day of tidying around.
Found out why the police helicopter was hovering for a long time on Saturday night. A pedestrian was killed by a hit and run driver on the main road just beyond our estate.
Good to hear Marydoll's DIL is able to get out of bed, that is progress.

A very late, for me, good morning from a bright, breezy, dry Cornwall where I've been distracted feeding the robins, gull, squirrel and blackbirds on my patio.

A poignant day yesterday as my eldest son and I went looking for the place where my mum grew up, on the north Cornwall coast. We found the site of her original home, right next to the sand dunes she used to tell me about.

At one point we went to quite the grimmest car boot sale I've ever seen, in a leaky, smelly barn! Later I ventured home and last of all watched Gisele Pelicot's interview on TV. What a courageous woman.

Today I must source some new boots in another town and will see what our new bus timetable involves.

Good morning everyone from a very bright and sunny 🌞 Northampton; tomorrow is said to be similar so I may well venture out for shopping. Have looked at the forecast and rain for the next ten days from Wednesday......

Not at yoga this morning as my knee is still too painful for any pose that involves knees, kneeling or on all fours, or frequently getting up and down. I shouldn't have gone last week. I shall miss the coffee and chat afterwards.
So I shall clean my ensuite, check for any.health essentials that I might need for my holiday, and strip and change the bed.
Reading/knitting this afternoon.

I ventured out for my opera concert yesterday afternoon, and luckily the heavy rain had stopped. It was very good and I had an excellent seat. Mainly Italian and French opera and the orchestra (the Royal Philharmonic) soprano and tenor soloists were very good. I had been hoping for some Mozart, but no luck. Unfortunately the lady next to me insisted on tapping and beating to the music through most of it and it was all I could see out of the corner of my eye - very distracting and I felt like grabbing her wrist in an iron grasp!

I had a roast gammon dinner yesterday so today it will be ham egg and chips, one of my favourites! And a ham sandwich for lunch.

Wishing all a pleasant Monday and hopefully more good news for those suffering on the health front.

Good morning from my bit of Leicestershire where it is sunny too but we also have ominous clouds not far away.

We still have DD2 and Co here but she has had a bad night with gall bladder pain and a fluctuating temperature. She is currently on the phone to her gp. At her outpatients consultation she was put on an 'expedited' list for surgery. Watch this space.

Have the best day possible everyone.

GrannySomerset Mon 16-Feb-26 08:38:47

A sunny morning, which always lifts the mood, and U3A meeting to match the sunshine. Enjoyed the company of DS over the weekend and was able to do a lot of listening while he unburdened himself over his complicated life.

Sorry life is such a struggle for so many with deteriorating health a real anxiety. Thinking particularly of Marydoll, Madeleine, Grandma Batty and all those finding normal life so hard.

ginny Mon 16-Feb-26 08:33:26

Good morning from a sunny N.Bucks.
I’ll come back to read all the news as I must walk down to the GP surgery to hand in a letter which I hope will be swiftly actioned.
Lots of bits and bobs today ,maybe an outing to a large warehouse .
Wishing all a good day.

dragonfly46 Mon 16-Feb-26 08:31:55

Meant to say I am sorry you are not feeling your best Susan.

dragonfly46 Mon 16-Feb-26 08:30:23

Good morning from a lovely sunny Leicestershire.

Had fun yesterday playing Scrabble with friends and chatting to DGD on FaceTime as she was on the train going for a trip to the British Museum with Daddy.
Today I must pop to Dunelm and get a heavier duvet for DH as he says he is cold. I think it is more a circulation problem.

I too miss Pantglas’s chirpy posts and thinking of others who are not posting.
Wishing everyone the best day possible.

monk08 Mon 16-Feb-26 08:29:08

Good morning all from a bright sunny start here in the Black country.
DH wants to look for some new slippers so think that may be todays task, a trip to the deli at the garden centre is also due our stocks are running low.
Have a good day everyone whatever your plans ☀️

Grammaretto Mon 16-Feb-26 08:28:08

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders.
Sorry to hear of the restless nights when for once I slept like a log.

No help I know but Spring is just around the corner 🌱 🌼 and Marydoll's DIL is a bit better.

I drove home from Arbroath yesterday and missed the snow which waited until I was back.

I walked through the slush to the cinema to see Lee about the 2nd world war female photographer.

Today exercise class and I'll make another batch of marmalade as most of the jars from last week have been given away.

Well done Grandmabatty . You are a stoic!

Hoping everyone stays warm and safe today.

Gagagran Mon 16-Feb-26 08:19:41

Good Morning everyone from a sunny and clear sky on the south coast. Late up this morning as my new V-shaped pillow proved very comfortable for my painful left arm and shoulder.

Not much on the to-do list today apart from some ironing and maybe cutting DH's hair. It's easy to do with the clippers as he hasn't any on top so it's just back and sides and his neck to shave. Also continuing with his olive oil ear drops until tomorrow when the ear wax removal appointment is scheduled for another try.

The house next door has a sold sign up after almost a year of being empty and up for sale. Really hope we get nice neighbours in this enclave of quiet, older people. Our house was bought by a young couple who renovated it to sell for profit but I bet it was difficult for the neighbours during the process. We bought it from the young couple and were happy with all that they had done to modernise it.

Thinking of all our GNs with struggles of any kind and hoping for some ease, calm and peace for us all.

Susan56 Mon 16-Feb-26 08:18:41

I hope the boys are good for you Grandmabatty.x

Liberty Mon 16-Feb-26 08:12:59

Good morning from a bright and dry start to the day. We had snow yesterday afternoon which started off as sleet and then, for about 30 minutes huge flakes. It settled for a while because of the speed with which it fell but then didn’t stay because the ground is so very wet.

Another quiet home based day today although I should probably pop out to our nearest town to go to the newly opened temporary post office in the old council offices.

Since the old one in the hardware shop closed in December, the footfall in the town has dropped considerably as people have gone elsewhere and shopped there as well.

Hopefully it will bring some life back to the town which like others, has a few closed small businesses.

I hope today is an easy one for all.

Ladyleftfieldlover Mon 16-Feb-26 08:05:53

Morning all from West Oxfordshire where it’s raining.

OH cancelled our cleaner today due to my never ending cough and cold. He will do the Waitrose shop when I’ve made a list.

I was supposed to be attending a Glass Fusion workshop this morning in the village. I will send a text to the organiser later saying I don’t want to inflict my germs on everyone! I had been really looking forward to it.

Have a good day everyone.

Good morning from Shropshire.

I have had a rubbish night.I have had my head in the sand over a health issue which I realise I can’t ignore anymore so feeling quite down.My illness in the summer has caused a problem which I now realise will probably not go away..I am seeing a friend this afternoon which will hopefully help.

I hope the dental appointment is t too traumatic Georgesgran.

Hoping Marydoll’s DIL continues to improve.Thoughts to all our absent posters and to all struggling.

Wishing everyone the best day possible🦩🌻

Good morning from a dry Cambridgeshire with pockets of blue sky.

Yesterday was a very lazy day we met my two old school friends who married only two years ago for a Sunday lunch in a village pub near them, we had a horrendous drive through heavy sleet/snow but had a really good lunch and meet up. Thankfully the journey back was somewhat easier.

Today we have my sister in law’s funeral. She passed away suddenly before Christmas in her late sixties and the cause is inconclusive pending further ongoing tests but thankfully she can now be laid to rest.

Have the best day you can everyone 💐

Marydoll Mon 16-Feb-26 07:59:48

Good morning all from Glasgow, where it is 2°C.
Another here, who has had a restless night.

Yesterday was a day of doing almost nothing, my pain levels were unbearable, aired with a blinding headache. Consequently I was in the worst of moods and feeling quite sorry for myself.
To take my mind of things, I decided to try out a new biscuit recipe, where you add chopped up toffees to the mixture.
They were a disaster!
Then I decided to get the sewing machine out and it refused to sew. I gave up on that too.
DH said it served me right for not resting!

This morning we are off early to see DIL, trying to synchronise buses, in order to save a long wait for them. It is half term here too, but Dollie and Daddy are exhausted, with all the trips up to the hospital, so I suggested they take their time and we will go up first
Normally on a Monday, I do various jobs around the church, but I am taking a step back, until I feel better.

DIL is making good progress she messaged yesterday morning to say, she had managed to get out of bed unaided, walk to the bathroom and wash herself. A huge step forward. ♥️

For all those, who are unwell this morning, I hope you have a gentle day.
Best wishes to all.
