Good morning everyone from Inverness where we’ve had a bit more overnight snow and it’s still very cold at -1°
Susan a difficult day but pleased it went well
Another trip to the gym today but also meeting a friend in between classes for a coffee and a catch up. Home on the bus later but this week the times and route of my bus home have changed so it’s not as convenient as before. Will see how it goes today!
Safe travels to OD Ash and everyone on the move today
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. There's still some snow lying, frozen solid.

As my classes weren't on yesterday half term I decided to go into town. It was lovely in the sunshine and the shop staff were all in good moods.

I found some gorgeous knitting wool so can begin my latest project this morning.

I caught the tram down to Leith to see my friend's art exhibition and sat in the sunshine drinking my coffee.

In the evening I joined the folk club on zoom and listened to the music whilst winding wool.

Today after yarn group and community lunch perhaps we're fasting? I'm meeting a fellow walker to plan our walk later in the Spring. we are leading a walk

Well done Susan that's such a big emotional job done.

Good to hear your DiL will be coming home soon Marydoll

A photo of my snowdrops and sunshine on Leith.
Have a joyful day everyone.

Good morning from Durham. It’s a grey start and the temperature is set to hover around zero all day.
Another day at home - I have no wish to go out or see anyone, until my mouth is better.
Washing machine broke down yesterday, a new one coming next Thursday.

Best wishes to all. X

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. It’s dry, cloudy and a chilly 3 degrees outside. A cloudy cold and windy day is forecast. It was good to see the sun yesterday. I had to go to B&Q in the morning to buy a replacement plug in nightlight as I’d left one at the house we stayed in at the weekend! I took the opportunity to take a load of batteries to be recycled. The car behaved itself, but I need to find a cushion for my back.
I had some worrying news about my sister in law then didn’t feel like making pancakes!
I’ll start to get back to my routine of a walk after breakfast today. It’s dry and not icy, so no excuse not to go out!

A busy day for you yesterday grandmattie and more to come today, I hope all goes according to plan.

marydoll good to learn that your DDil is making good progress and fingers crossed she is discharged by the weekend. You have a busy day today, enjoy Midsomer Murders!

susan I’m glad that the clearance went as well as possible, a difficult day for you, but good that you had some support from your brother and sister in law.

Thinking of those who are poorly, and those who are in any kind of distress.

Wishing everyone the best day possible and a safe journey to those travelling today.

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire where it is not yet light, and very cold. Supposed to be a dry day. I was grateful for one yesterday as when I drove to my ear appointment the main road through to the village centre was blocked with roadworks (a sink hole, apparently) and so I had to abandon my car and walk. A mile. Uphill! One ear is now clear, the other still isn’t, so yet another appointment is on the calendar.

In the afternoon I decided to clean out the inside of my car which the condition of which shamed me. I had just started using the vacuum cleaner when it conked out so I had the whole thing to do using a dustpan and brush. It took ages and was the second workout of the day. After that I retired to a chair with my iPad.

Writers group this afternoon with our librarian leading her monthly session.

Have the best day you can, folks.

Morning Mick, morning All. Our corner of Somerset is promised a dry morning with rain arriving with lunch. It feels cold.

Thoroughly enjoyed our family time yesterday, not allowing a small reversing mishap with the car (Mr C was mortified) to spoil the day. Nothing that can’t be fixed easily. Disappointed to learn that a small piece of furniture we ordered has a delayed delivery if impressed with the communication from the supplier.

Back to routine today with dust removal, A hair cut for me mid day, not something I enjoy. I inherited my Mum’s fine, thin hair so not a long process

Safe travels to your husband ash and to all on the move.

Have the best day you can everyone.

Good morning from a cool Kent. Rain forecast later.

grandMattie your post about IKEA brought back nice memories for me. I remember going with DD there when she was at Uni and needed some furniture. Suddenly I was a thousand pounds lighter grin

I don't have any plans today. As it seems quite cool outside I might continue working on my knitted slipover before walking the dog.

I will try to watch a mass livestream on this Ash Wednesday.

Best wishes to all.

Good morning from W Kent. U3A art session at the garden centre this morning a lovely group who have now got to know each other a bit.
A quiet afternoon I think, yesterday’s drive was complicated by road works, although beautifully sunny.
Best wishes.

Good morning from a dark and dry (for now) Black Country.

Arrived back from staying at DD's whilst they went to Vienna. The girls didn't really need looking after, just an adult to be there really. Youngest (14) was making pancakes for Breakfast yesterday.

Arrived home to a lovely bunch of flowers delivered. They were from DD as a thank you for staying with the girls whilst they had a much needed break. Didn't really need to do that, but they were much appreciated.

Then had a call from my friend asking if I was free Thursday, she has a trip booked with a friend to Kew Gardens and Oxford. Friend cannot make it as her husband is very unwell and in Hospital, sadly. So an unexpected trip this week.

No real plans today, except to make a few phone calls and admin.

Wishing you all the best day possible, with special thoughts of our missing friends. FGT flowers

Good morning, it’s very cold and wet here on the hillside in south Glos 🙄
Yesterday’s early dog walk in sunshine was wonderful, I actually felt the warmth of it on my face. Tiddler and I made the most of it, out for well over our usual hour or so.
I did some fun stuff with my painting while I got back, using gesso, tissue paper and cling film to create texture.
Today I have two zoom sessions, one this morning and the other this evening. One involves gesso and leaves so I have collected a few on my walks and I have a few fern fronds from my neighbour’s garden. Well prepared for once!
Thinking of all the poorly ones 🌹

Good morning Ash Wednesday.

No novella from me today, I'm off to open up the church for 7.30am Mass. DH will give me a hand, a rare occurence, for he does like to be in the limelight, but it is too much for me now to do on my own.
Usually I cover the evening Mass, but we are short of sacristans at the moment.

After Mass, we will go to Glasgow, to meet DS2 and DIL for lunch, then off to see Midsomer Murders, a gift from them.

No hospital visimay be discharged before the weekend.

Susan, I am glad the clearance went as well as it could and that you had some support.

Safe journey to OD.

Have a pleasant day folks and best wishes to all the poorlies.

Good morning from Malta where a sunny day is forecast with a high of 16°C. It is still windy but that is supposed to drop by the afternoon.

Glad to hear everything went well with the house clearance, Susan, but I know it must have been so difficult for you. 💐

grandMattie that sounded an exhausting expedition yesterday! I would need a day to recover but here you are with another packed schedule! Best of luck.🤗

Bon voyage to oldd, I hope the journey will go smoothly. Hope you won’t feel too sad at being on your own again Ashcombe. When will you be back together again?

I hope everyone enjoyed their pancakes. I didn’t bother just for me but I did think back to the happy days when I would stand by the hob and churn out one after the other for the family. The best of times but so long ago now.😞

No idea what I will do today apart from watch tennis this afternoon/evening.

Wishing you all a good day, special thoughts to the FGTs and all mountaineers.🤗

Ashcombe Wed 18-Feb-26 05:42:51

Good morning from a wet and windy Torbay.

We have an early start as olddudders is travelling back to his home in France by train, including €*. I have to drive him to Newton Abbot for the 7.29 train to Paddington. We’ve been together since before Christmas so it will feel strange without him.

Happy hump day, everyone! 🦩🥰🦩💐🦩

grandMattie Wed 18-Feb-26 05:24:30

Good morning from a cold (possibly icy) Bristol.
We did go to IKEA in the end, after I went to DD’s by bus. Lunch first, joining the queue together with all of Bristol, especially the families with preteens! It took over 40 minutes, but the girls loved it.
Iris wanted to get a chair/bed for her room. She takes ages choosing things, DGD1 wanted a better desk chair as she spends hours at her desk revising; her second mocks start next week: then VIth form beckons.
I got a few bits and pieces.
It might have been a disaster as, when we got to ikea, DD looked for her handbag for cards, phone, etc., she realised she’d left it at home. The girls had their phones, I had a bank card so it was ok - except that since the scam, my bank had queried almost every transaction. I was worried I’d have to go through the 3rd degree to pay, but it was ok there. I hate having to worry about that sort of thing, and the hassle. Talk about stables doors…
I’m extremely busy today, with morning prayers, FAB cafe (complete with about 40 pancakes), ladies guild in the afternoon and Ash Wednesday service in the evening. I shall be pooped.
Thoughts to you all for whatever reason, especially fgt.
Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩

Good morning from Cheshire.Dry at the moment.I’m sorry the cold weather is affecting you Mick.Hopefully spring isn’t far away.

The house clearance went well yesterday. An emotional day but the team were lovely and my brother and sister in law came to support us so a better day than it could have been.My elder daughter and I will come over next week to give the house a final clean. Not much to do as mum was quite obsessive about keeping everywhere clean.

We will call to see mum this morning then home via Sainsburys.

Thinking of all struggling and wishing everyone the best day possible🦩🌻

Good Morning Everyone,
A dark but dry at the moment here in Brackley this morning.
Its cold as well , I will attempt to go out on the bus to Bicester , but yesterday the cold air got into my system and shortened my stay there .
I cannot wait for milder spring type weather to occur if we get one .
Health appears OK,
Take Care,
Mick
