World falling apart around you? Ex-husband arrested? Here's the answer

I've started a new thread because the existing AMW thread is dealing with the loftier side of things.

"I haven't got any money" seems to be a phrase that means different things to different folk.

It's reported that allegedly, Sarah Ferguson is experiencing deep personal trauma. Apparently homeless and with no known source of regular income she has ...

"...spent a few days with friends in the French Alps and is now thought to be in the United Arab Emirates".

Life's a bitch isn't it?

I certainly don't feel envious of any of them In fact I'd be absolutely mortified if I were one of them. There is nothing they do or have that makes me envious of them, I would hate to live such a vacuous and money driven life tbh

sixandahalf Sun 22-Feb-26 15:34:56

I think it's OK to feel envy really. It's a natural emotion.

Good post ferry. That’s what I meant about putting up two fingers. They are rubbing our noses in it and if they can’t see that, then they are even more stupid than they already seem.

Just because people are better off than we are and have a commensurate life style does not mean they are sticking their finges up to people.

The incomes of GN members are clearly very varied. if people write about cruise holidays, buying clothes or going to Waitrose are they doing it to cock a snook at poorer GN members. Some of the post above reek of envy rather than a measured judgment.

Yes, I agree.
Families differ, incomes differ, lifestyles differ.

However, I wonder who is funding Sarah's stay at the retreat?

Andrew Lownie's suggestion that they both voluntarily relinquish their titles and go and live somewhere out of the public eye is, for me, the best compromise and most sensible.

I think the British public are sick to death of all the ridicule and embarrassment that their parents have brought upon the country and I can't imagine anyone being sorry if we never hear of them again. Whilst I think there's an element of blame by association with regard to their daughters, I'm afraid I don't believe they're squeaky clean. They may not be at the centre of the tangled web woven by their parents, but they're certainly on the outer perimeter.

Frequent, extravagant holidays, gifts of expensive jewellery and goodness know what else seems to have been their normal lifestyle.

They both have wealthy husbands, I'm sure an address book that's like the Yellow Pages of the wealthy, so wherever they are, they won't be going hungry.

Iam64 Sun 22-Feb-26 12:22:52

Well said ferry.
The two young women are old enough to have a clearer view of the negative influences from their parents
They’d be wise to keep low profiles

watermeadow Sun 22-Feb-26 12:11:30

My sister’s world fell apart when her husband died very suddenly, leaving her with young children and their joint bank account frozen. I’m sure we all know of similar tragedies.
SarahFerguson’s troubles are largely her own fault and on a different scale.

The whole York family seem to have absolutely no idea how to read the room. How to accurately gauge public opinion.

Princess Eugenie posting photos of their "family" half term break skiing in Gstaad. One of the top end resorts, of course.

And their Nanny accompanied them. Of course she did. It must be beyond their capabilities to go on a half-term family break and actually look after their own children. Devote just a week to their young children when clearly their demanding jobs (?) don't leave them time to do so. Too busy commuting between their grace and favour/peppercorn rent Nottingham Cottage home and their presumably free home in Portugal in the top of the market enclave her husband promotes. Popping off to an art exhibition in Dubai representing the gallery of which the Princess is a director, whose role is to introduce wealthy clients.

I have tried to feel a little bit of sympathy for the York Princesses, but I have to say that the apple doesn't fall from the tree.

eazybee Sun 22-Feb-26 10:54:46

Sarah Ferguson may well have had many rich friends but I doubt if she will see much of them in her future.

I find it difficult to have much sympathy for a woman who when her world, based on that of her ex-husband who did his best, albeit dishonestly, to help her clear her debts, is collapsing around he , seeks refuge in a ridiculously over-priced sanitorium.

Someone is going to have pay that bill, and it won't be her.

Silvershadow Sun 22-Feb-26 10:53:11

We don’t know the extent of their involvement or otherwise yet. We can’t assume they were innocent until the facts are gone through. Even then, there seems a determination to portray them as innocent. I wonder what their husbands are thinking.

I read that one daughter is skiing and the other is in New York at a party recently. They seem oblivious to it all.

Not oblivious, trying to keep a distance from it.

I cannot imagine a more horrible position to be in than to find that your parents whom you love and who love you have been up to all the sheninigans that AMW and SF have been involved - and, of course to be in the public eye as they are.

The 2 Princesses have had no involvement with Epstein except a lunch organised by their mother.

I thnk , in the circumstances the best they can do, is exactly what they have done, kept well out of the way and got on with their ordinary family and work lives.

However, behind the scenes I bet every methid of communication is working over time around the family and with Buckingham Palalce.

Usedtobeblonde Sun 22-Feb-26 10:49:05

I don’t agree with much you say Tuliptree but I do agree with that.

Tuliptree Sun 22-Feb-26 10:46:19

And there’s such a thing as not putting on anything and just staying home and out of sight. This isn’t a ‘front’ it’s putting up two fingers to us all.

Lots of details here. She seems pretty broken but then you hear that she's got her head in the sand, is in denial and ignoring it all, so who knows.

But she is going to ‘sound broken’ isn’t she? And she may well be and if so, so what? VG is dead and many other women broken by her friend. There will be a celebrity therapist somewhere in the mix herd giving her coaching on how to sound convincingly broken.

Oreo Sun 22-Feb-26 10:25:43

According to the link ( and who knows if it’s true or not) SF spent a few weeks at the ‘retreat’ and then moved to somewhere in the French Alps then UAE.Where she is now is anyone’s guess.Staying out of the UK for a long time will be likely.
She has a lot of wealthy friends so may never return here.
However you feel about her and her lifestyle it’s understandable that she feels cowed and unhappy.

ferry23 Sun 22-Feb-26 10:18:48

After reading the article, linked above by Chestnut, I can only conclude that the woman is completely delusional.

She apparently talked about their excellence in dealing with mental health issues -

'particularly those whose struggles are often hidden behind the facade of a public role.’

What public role? She doesn't have a public role, nor does she have any discernable skills or talents that could be used to develop a public role. Clearly she both thinks she has, and desires, a public role.

She has public infamy and derision, but I suspect that's not quite what she meant.

Like or not like the Royals, Diana was canny and shrewd enough - and liked enough - to carve out some sort of a meaningful public role for herself before her untimely death. Ferguson never had that likeability factor or was clever enough to do so. And she was never going to be the Mother of the future heir either.

How to make one's money worries even worse, check into a £13,000 A DAY shock wellness centre, more like a sick in the wallet centre. I can't imagine how any such establisment can cost so much. It just adds fuel to the fire, either more profligacy or entitled freeloading.

eazybee Sun 22-Feb-26 09:33:19

I doubt if she will ever be able to go there again; they will know no-one is available to pick up the bill, because she has nothing left to offer, only threats.

HelterSkelter1 Sun 22-Feb-26 08:51:43

I wonder what on earth you get for 13000.00. Apart from immense security. They probably both know a bit too much not to worry about their own personal safety.

sixandahalf Sun 22-Feb-26 08:47:41

That is more than my annual pension. What a freeloader.

Maybe I'll write a book about a helicopter.
