Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s dry and bright
Sorry to hear you’ve been upset Roses sending ❤️
I’m hoping to get outside for a bit of gardening sometime today, I think the ground has eventually thawed out a bit. Hoping to see some signs of spring and bulbs coming up
A very Happy Birthday to all the DGC today, Susan, Bellas, grandmabatty I hope they all enjoy their special days
Fgt 💐
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Grandmabatty Sun 22-Feb-26 08:02:48

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 8° and wet. Happy birthday to Susan's dgs and to bellasnanas dgd too. It's a good day for birthdays! GrandMattie the quilt is a work of art. Beautiful. My thoughts are with FGT and her Dear man.
Yesterday was a quiet day. I went to Aldi for food and did the housework and washing. My cold is still here so I had a hot toddy last night. It gave me heartburn and I've been up most of the night, so not a success.
Today dgs1 is 7. Hes such a dear, sweet boy and is growing up so quickly. I'll go and see him later. He has football academy this morning. After that, I'll probably have a nap as I'm not feeling my best today. Enjoy your Sunday

Good morning from the east coast.

We have another day to ourselves today. We will have a ride out and a walk somewhere stopping for a coffee and maybe cake. Even tea is easy tonight. Leftover curry for me from Friday and the leftover liver dinner from the other night for DH he loves it over chips with bread and butter. An easy day all round.

Just want to wish everyone celebrating or joining in celebrations a wonderful day. 🎉
There are so many family worries across GN and I just want to send virtual hugs and prayers to you all 💐🌼

Good morning from a brightish Leicestershire.

Yesterday took an unexpected turn as a friend knocked on my door asking me to go for a walk so we walked the mile to the nearest pub, had a coffee and came home.

I have a 3 year old poinsettia which is much bushier but is sporting red leaves.

So sorry your hard work is being put down by your friend and DH. It is so insensitive and I think what you are doing should be applauded.
Happy Birthday to all those DGC and I hope your DD gets home soon Gingster.

Thinking of those with mountains to climb especially the FGTs.

Grandmabatty Sun 22-Feb-26 08:04:40

Roses i forgot to say how disappointed you must be in your friend. You are trying to help your community and are being treated shamefully.

Jaxjacky Sun 22-Feb-26 08:13:26

Morning from a wet S Hants.
Beautiful quilt, so much patience gmattie
How unkind Roses I’m sorry they upset you, I’d be disappointed in the pair of them.
Lots of birthday grandchildren 🎂 hope they all have a lovely day.
We watched the curling too and MrJ was pleased with the earlier rugby results 🇮🇪
Not much on today, daughter and grandchildren will be gearing up for their returns to school/college.
As ever FGT

Marydoll Sun 22-Feb-26 08:13:46

Good morning all, a quick post toda Dollie is unwell, so is coming here to allow DS to get some things done.

Roses, negative people drag you done, don't they? 💐

Beautiful quilt GM,

I didn't post yesterday, as Babydoll was particularly.arly hyperactive and was stuck to my side from 5pm on Friday to 2pm yesterday.
She wouldn't sleep in the cot, so slept all night with me. My body was frozen in an awkward position, when I awoke
I was exhausted and feeling overwhelmed. DS2 arrived at 10am, but she refused to go home, so they ended up having lunch here.
She sat on my knee, constantly asking questions and trying to type, while I tried to send out the bulletin.
I was in such a bad mood, because while I was run ragged, DH would not engage, because he was picking his horses. 🤬🤬🤬
His solution was to put on Spiderman, (she is obsessed.)

Just as I was leaving to open up the church, DIL's mother came in to see me. I was feeling more and more stressed, as I was running so late.
The young curate, who has been so good to DIL, (but finds me irritating) gave me an enormous hug, which was just what I needed,

So today, is the fundraising, Ladies'Spring Fling. I am so looking forward to meeting up with my friends of forty years. My glad rags are out ready to put on.
This our last event before we move out of the church into the parish hall for Mass.

I need to rush and make Dollie's requested pancakes! 💗

DS has just messaged. Babydoll wants another sleepover.
OVER MY DEAD BODY! ♥️

Best wishes to all, especially those with family members so ill. Susan, enjoy the party.

EkwaNimitee Sun 22-Feb-26 08:17:55

Good morning Mick and everyone from grey but currently dry Carlisle.
I got back from my tour of Costa Rica late Friday night...hot and humid there so I'm glad the weather has warmed up a bit here.
I've seen masses of wonderful wildlife in a very beautiful country of welcoming people. I absolutely love to be in rainforest, far from the madding crowds! I'm currently processing my photos so might be able to post some in a day or two.
I have come home with what seems like half their annual coffee production....and needed the extension on my suitcase. And their chocolate is to die for...my DSs had better visit soon or there won't be any left.

I'm now back to reality and stuffing the washing machine and packing the summer clothes away, hoping we'll soon have the weather to wear them again.
Later, I have a Tesco delivery and will probably go for a post-lunch walk to see how the wildlife is getting on down in the park.

I'm sorry to come back and read of illnesses and troubles...thinking of you all.

Good morning Mick and all GN's from a grey but dry and slightly breezy North Yorkshire. I have been awake for a very long time but really struggled to get up and full of aches and pains today, had to take some painkillers and doesnt even feel as though they are working at all.

Yesterday I went off early on the yellow peril to the market. With my big polar jacket on I was quite warm enough on the buggy and it was good to be out in the fresh air. I managed to get all the bits and pieces I wanted and came straight home as it was looking very dark and ready to rain and I wanted to get everything inside and the buggy covered up before it got wet.
That was achieved, and I was glad to make a coffee and look at my paper for a time, before putting the shopping away, and then beginning the slow plod of trying to make an effort to tidy and sort things out. I had my grabber stick , but it was still hard work picking things up from the floor.

The kitchen did look much better, as I cleared and cleaned and gave the worktop surfaces a good go with disinfectant etc., but took an age to finish it. I also got a duck leg from the freezer to have for dinner as no luck at the butchers on my trip out. I had decided to have some pigs kidney with onions and mushrooms and was looking forward to that for a change, but the butcher had none and I never see that in the supermarket for some reason. Then I started on the lounge.

I usually let the cleaners move my chair etc., but decided that I must try and shift it myself and live in hopes that my glasses would be underneath etc. Well there was a variety of bits and pieces and quite a hoard of biros but no glasses sadly. However I managed to get everything in that area cleaned and things put back where they were meant to be but couldnt hoover. After that I rather ran out of steam and so that is the plan for today to carry on with the rest of the things here. I spent the afternoon with the rugby on, reading the Yorkshire Post in the intervals , and then after making my dinner listening to some music in the evening. So cant think of anything I did to warrant this rough morning.

The wind has now picked up and the autumn leaves are swirling around on the borders and the snowdrops are dancing about. I need to get out and do a little bit of walking , even if it is just round the garden here. Will have to see how I get on later. There is nothing going on as far as I can see locally and no snowdrop gardens open today so nothing to lure me out really.

It is good we have this thread Mick to remind us that there are others up and about as early as us. It can often feel as though we are the only ones up and about at this time of day. GrandMattie what a fantastic quilt you have made. It must be very satisfying to see it finished and now you can enjoy making a more colourful one. RoseandLilac I send you a hug , for all your good efforts for your community. As they say with friends like that who needs enemies?. It is sad when a friendship comes to an end, but it looks as though this one has run its course. Good friendship allows and accepts that we may disagree on all sorts of major reasons but that we learn to either keep off those subjects or agree to differ and concentrate on the things we share not the things we disagree on. Possibly she has some problems that you dont know about but that is no excuse for her behaviour. You are doing what you feel is right and you may make new friendships with others who are involved with this project. Then perhaps you can look back and be glad you had some good times with her if no longer able to be friends. Bellasnana great memories of the birth of your GDG, but hard to think it is so many years ago isnt it? Glad you enjoyed the tennis.

Hoping everyone has a good day today and something positive to enjoy whether it is that lovely flower coming up, or a surprise phone call from friends. I shall go and make myself a cup of coffee to get me going now.

Grammaretto Sun 22-Feb-26 08:20:46

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders where it's mild and light. Spring is nearly here

The quilt is fabulous gMattie lucky DGS.

Often a new housing estate include a playground or 2 Roses. Our local one has 2 but they are for small children and the last place teenagers want to gather.

You continue your efforts. All strength to you!

The jazz concert last night was very good, loud and lively. We were encouraged to get up and dance so I did.

I'll go to Quaker meeting this morning and pottery this afternoon. There's a film tonight too so always something to do .

I have got stuck on my knitting as I don't understand the pattern. It will have to wait until Wednesday morning. The clever ladies at yarn group will know what to do. 😟

Hoping everyone has some joy today.

Greyduster Sun 22-Feb-26 08:38:29

Good morning Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire where the sun has got his hat on. I slept well last night but don’t feel any better for it strangely. I shopped at Aldi yesterday and bought some plants there - a pack of polyanthus (DH loved them so I plant them for him) - and some Sweet Williams, which were a favourite of my mother’s. I spent most of the afternoon preparing the filling for a chicken and mushroom pie that DD and SiL have requested for lunch today, and then another lot of chopping and cutting for my stir fry evening meal.

As Melanie said, it is Derby Day here today. My family is split - DS supports the reds, as did his Dad; GS and his Dad support the blues. None of them will be attending but feelings still run high. There’s a lot at stake this year. I gave up supporting either of them years ago.

Have the best day you can, folks.

Good morning all from a mild Black country, the sun has just appeared so hopefully will be able to put the towels outside to dry.
A lovely quilt grandMattie I admire your patience to be able make it.
Lots of birthdays so best wishes to all celebrating🎉
Baubles happy Anniversary 🥂.
Hope to have a tidy up in the garden today will be good to be out.
EkwaNimitee look forward to seeing your photos.
Enjoy your day everyone whatever your plans.
FGTs 🙏

Happy Anniversary baubles 🥂

BlueSapphire Sun 22-Feb-26 08:59:37

Good morning everyone from a cloudy and damp Northampton, but have no need to go out.

Had a pleasant outing to the shops yesterday, got all that I needed and more; did not bother with a coffee in Costa as I wanted to get back for the rugby, but wished I hadn't bothered. However, I was cheered that my Northampton Saints team had a good away win the previous evening.

As I have an empty I am planning on defrosting the kitchen freezer; so I need to empty it and cart everything out to the garage freezer and back again. I will get an auto defrost freezer next time!

Nothing else planned for today, but will have to start thinking soon about what I am going to need on my holiday next week. I need to order some currency from Sainsburys.

A difficult time of year for me as 8 years ago this week my DH was spending his last days in hospital....
And so my thoughts are with the FGTs ; may our thoughts and prayers comfort and support them.

harrigran Sun 22-Feb-26 09:11:18

Good morning from a dry and sunny NE.
DS and GD were a little later visiting yesterday, she was working in the charity shop which she enjoys. After dinner she played the piano for an hour, I do enjoy my weekly recital.
They left a little earlier than usual as GD was doing a hike today for her DofE. She has a very busy life.
Today will be a day of relaxation.
Thinking of FGT.

Happy Anniversary Baubles! 🥂💐

Grannydaisy1 Sun 22-Feb-26 09:23:40

Good morning everyone don't post often but just to say what a beautiful quilt Grandmattie you are really clever. Thoughts and prayers with the fgts today

cornergran Sun 22-Feb-26 09:35:21

Morning Mick, morning All from a brightening corner of Somerset.

Did little yesterday, generally under the weather. Stayed in bed reading for most of the morning and pottered in the afternoon. Feel much the same today so a quiet one ahead.

Birthday and anniversary wishes to all celebrating. That’s a superb quilt grandmattie. I’m disappointed for you roses, harsh comments indeed.

Thoughts are with those facing challenges. Love to the fgts.

Hope this Sunday is gentle with us all.

Stilllearning Sun 22-Feb-26 09:50:42

Good morning from Seamill where I am spending the weekend with a friend. I always look forward to being by the sea but this visit like the last one, it has rained heavily nonstop. Oh well it’s been nice to see her anyway.

Home this afternoon and the moment I get on the train I will be able to remove my new hearing aids which are really hurting my ears, breaking the skin. I have been back to the hospital audiologist and have another appointment in two weeks. She said I’m not putting them in properly but I’ve been wearing aids for years with no problems. These are Bluetooth and moulds are bigger than the previous ones so it may be that.

Sorry to start with a moan. I don’t really look at any other threads but I gather things are very bad now for the FGTs and I am so sorry.

Sorry also to read of other upsets but it was good to read about your lovely holiday Ekwanimitee, it sounds amazing.

What an achievement the quilt for your DGS is grandMattie,
It must have been so heavy to work with bu it is really striking.

Talking of grandchildren Grandmabatty, I can hardly believe that your boy is seven years old now.

Happy anniversary baubles and now I am being called for breakfast by my kind friend so I wish the best day possible to everyone.

Ladyleftfieldlover Sun 22-Feb-26 10:05:53

I forgot to mention the quilt GM! It’s beautiful.

Good morning from Cambridgeshire where I am a little late getting going today.

I have skimmed the thread but will read over a coffee later as need to crack on with things.

Lovely quilt GM I am sure your GS will love and treasure it.
Roses I’m sad you were upset when you are doing something good for the community
Happy Anniversary to Baubles
Happy Birthday to all those celebrating today seems to be a few
🙏 FGT’s thinking and praying for you and your family
MD I well remember those kind of sleepovers my youngest GS is 7 so things are a lot calmer these days😂 Rest up and get well and hope your dil continues to recover well and Dollie too.

Have the best possible Sunday. The sun is out here so I’m escaping out for a while hoping to avoid the weekend rucksack brigade with their buggies and little troops on scooters, balance bikes etc and those who love to jump in a puddle just as I walk by 😂 I encountered many on my National Trust walk yesterday! After queuing ages for a coffee and not very nice sausage roll the two ladies in front of me ordered 10 hot drinks so I think the answer is avoid weekend visits to that venue!

Grandmabatty Sun 22-Feb-26 10:39:37

Stilllearning, I know! 7 already.
I've just nipped to the toyshop to buy a wee thing for dgs2 to open. I know it isn't his birthday, but he doesn't quite get the etiquette 😀

Ilovedogs22 Sun 22-Feb-26 10:55:15

Good morning from the west midlands.
A strange sighting today! As I opened my blinds, there was a bright, warm glow in the sky. So pleased to see our glorious sun.
Best wishes to all Grans, especially those who are struggling at the mo.

Blossoming Sun 22-Feb-26 11:01:43

Good morning everyone from sunny Lancashire.

Such a pleasant surprise to wake up to blue skies and sunshine this morning. MrB and I have enjoyed a lovely walk around the dock and are hoping it will stay fine so we can get out again later. Yesterday afternoon we watched steam trains in the rain grin.

Thinking of all who are struggling with life at the moment.

Wishing you all a good day, whatever you’re doing.
