Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s dry and bright
Sorry to hear you’ve been upset Roses sending ❤️
I’m hoping to get outside for a bit of gardening sometime today, I think the ground has eventually thawed out a bit. Hoping to see some signs of spring and bulbs coming up
A very Happy Birthday to all the DGC today, Susan, Bellas, grandmabatty I hope they all enjoy their special days

Good morning from South Lanarkshire. No rain at the moment but it’s not far away.

DGD and I had a really lovely time together yesterday. She told me all about her plans for the future and was bright and chatty. I’m so pleased to see what a fine young woman she is becoming.

Today is our 51st wedding anniversary so I’ve splashed out on a M&S meal deal. grin

First will be Mass this morning then tea in the church hall. We are trying to make it a monthly event.

Sending prayers to those in need today.

Have the best day possible everyone.

kittylester Sun 22-Feb-26 07:52:11

Good morning from a milder but greyish North Leicestershire.

I am aiming to do very little today apart from making a Swiss cheese bake. DH and DS1 are at the match today and get their lunch there. We will have the bake when he gets home.

Have the best day possible everyone and sending special love to our friend and her dear man.

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. It’s very mild, 12 degrees, breezy and looks damp out. A dry day is forecast I think, but who knows?

Yesterday was fairly quiet, I managed to cut back a couple of shrubs, before they start to take over the garden. My back was very achy afterwards, but I hope to be able to do a little gardening each dry day to get it under control again. Trying to find a gardener who is prepared to do anything other than cut the grass is impossible here.
DD2 came over in the afternoon for a short while, I won’t see DD1 today as the 10 year old has a tummy bug and I don’t want it! I may go for a walk first, then there’s washing to be done while I have half price electricity later this morning.

Disturbing news about the fgts on the soops kitchen thread last night. Thinking of them today.

I hope marydoll is ok and feels able to post today.

grandmattie that is a huge quilt, and I love the colours!

roses I’m sorry that your friend and your DH upset you yesterday. Does your friend have any reason to expect that she will have problems from anti social behaviour behind her house?

Thinking of all those in difficulties today and hoping that life improves for you.

Have a peaceful Sunday folks.

GrannyGravy13 Sun 22-Feb-26 07:42:14

Good morning, it’s very grey here in S E Essex, and what appears to be the new normal this winter we are due rain ☔️☔️☔️

No plans, probably read and be lazy.

Thinking of those with troubles and ills, (((hugs))) to a very special lady 🙋‍♀️

luluaugust Sun 22-Feb-26 07:38:00

Good morning from a grey W Kent.
Amazing quilt gM
R&L sorry you have been upset. People love children’s playgrounds unless they are anywhere near them!
A quiet day here just a quick look at DD2’s cat and chat to DB. Otherwise a hot lunch and sleepy afternoon
Best wishes

Susan56 Sun 22-Feb-26 07:26:20

Happy birthday to your DGD Bellasnana and to Grandmabatty’s DGS 🥳

Gingster Sun 22-Feb-26 07:21:45

Good morning all.

Yesterday DGD and I shopped for the family lunch today. She’s a great help , loading the bags etc . We made sausage rolls when we got back and then she helped make the spag Bol for tea. It was especially delicious.

We spent a couple of hours doing craft. Her imagination amazes me.

DS1 and ds2 with families will arrive at midday and as my oven is broken, it’s a cold buffet lunch., theyll bring cake and puds.

Dd still in hospital, of course no treatment as it’s the weekend. 😤. We’ll pop along later to see her.

Bellas lovely pics of Aruba, - one of our favourite places we visited on our World Cruise.

A labour of love Matty 👏.

RosesandLilac so sorry you’ve been upset, when you’re trying to do good. 💐

Fgs 🙏.

I hope your DIL is progressing Marydoll and will be coming home soon.🤞.

Take care all 🌱

Ladyleftfieldlover Sun 22-Feb-26 07:21:44

Morning all from West Oxfordshire.

I’m still in bed - no need to get up quite yet!

No church today as the Benefice doesn’t have a nearby service.

OH has to take some more honey to a nearby pub to sell. They got in touch yesterday to say they had sold the batch he took before Christmas.

I was sent an enormous box of Hotel Chocolate chocolates from Riviera Travel. Apparently we have booked enough holidays to warrant a gift!

I am beginning to feel more hunan again as my cough has cleared and my cold has just about cleared. I can’t say the same about my toe!

Beef and dumplings casserole tonight, and I’ve taken a gooseberry crumble out of the freezer to defrost.

Special thoughts to the FGT2S 🌹🙏

GemmaMack Sun 22-Feb-26 07:06:23

Hello everyone. A very early start for me 😳 probably because I was in bed and asleep by ten last night. It was so early that even the cat wasn’t waiting on the window sill when I went down to make a cup of tea.
The weather here (West Lothian) is dry and, when I popped my head out the back door to see if I could see the cat, it felt mild. Some of the crocuses I planted in pots last year have come up and are providing a welcome splash of colour. It shouldn’t be too long till the daffodils start flowering and there are loads of them.
Yesterday was uneventful, as I thought it would be. Laundry, cleaning, ordering a food shop and ‘life admin’ as my dd2 would call it. I’ve started watching Jane Eyre in the iPlayer so I watched an episode of that and later on, the curling final. We was robbed! I know nothing about curling but dh, on the back of a curling ’taster’ session at a local ice rink is an expert 😂
Today will probably also be quiet although I might go and watch dd3 play football later this afternoon.
Have a lovely day everyone

Gagagran Sun 22-Feb-26 07:05:00

Good Morning all from yet another wet start to the day here on the south coast. We had our daily flood warning yesterday. Never had so many but we are up the road from the coastal stretch so are safe unless there is a tsunami. Fingers crossed not!

Laundry day here with a big load of cycling gear to start with and other chores in between.

The latest quilt is a work of art GM and your skill and patience leave me in awe. I am sure your DGS will love it. I was told as a child that I hold a needle like a poker and I have never liked sewing as a result even though I really didn't.

I have managed to reach a compromise on the difficult decision I have been wrestling with and slept better as a result. Will keep it under review though.

Kind thoughts to all struggling with difficulties of any kind. May today be an easier one with some peace of mind.

Georgesgran Sun 22-Feb-26 06:55:20

Good Morning from Durham. Barely light and Alexa forecasts a day of rain. GN has been infiltrated by a strange post, resurrecting many old threads.

DD2 and family coming today, so a proper lunch needed. I expect Little Dog will come too - it’ll be Bedlam.
Sorry to hear of the upset Roses I know from your posts, your DH can be ‘odd’.
No Marydoll yesterday and sad news about the FGTs in soops kitchen last night. 💐

Best wishes to all. X

Cressy Sun 22-Feb-26 06:52:51

Good Morning All from a very infrequent poster. I have been busy reporting a spammer ( along with Cornergran). Mainly on the meet up threads. Hope this ‘lady’ has now given up 🤭
However it did uncover a photo of the Glesca Grannies from a few years ago. I recognised many of the names from this group. Lovely to see it. 🥰

Back to sleep now

NannyJan53 Sun 22-Feb-26 06:52:06

Good morning from a dry but still soggy Black Country.

Took Mum for her MRI scan yesterday, being a Saturday the Hospital was fairly quiet, in on time and out within the hour.

Then took her out to lunch, where she had the usual Fish n Chips.

Roses sorry you were so upset, I too am puzzled what you have supposed to have done, but I agree with gM

Wishing you all the best day possible, with special thoughts of FGT's.

Ashcombe Sun 22-Feb-26 06:51:45

Wonderful flamingos, Bellasnana! I believe that RosesandLilac is campaigning for a play area to be provided on their estate. It sounds like her neighbour thinks it’ll become a gathering place for the wrong sort.

hollysteers Sun 22-Feb-26 06:49:24

Good morning from a dark northwest coast.
Nice day yesterday. I enjoyed the church fair and picked up a few things. An ice cream van turned up and I sat in the sun, yay, eating a Magnum before a food shop.

My artist friend is hosting an open mic tonight and I may pop in.
Fab quilt GM and sorry to hear you have been upset Roses
Thoughts to all🌺

Ashcombe Sun 22-Feb-26 06:47:34

Good morning from a damp and breezy Torbay.

I should think your grandson will be delighted with his quilt, grandMattie! It’s also impressive that you have a poinsettia going strong in the background.

How disappointing not to receive the support you should be able to expect, RosesandLilac! I hope your friends negativity doesn’t discourage you from this valuable project.

How annoying to have your doorbell rung in the night, Melanie61! Perhaps you will be able to grab some💤 later while DH is at the football.

Early service here and then I might go to Lidl if I can summon up the energy!

A blessed Sunday to you all! 🦩🥰✝️💐🦩

Angelnan Sun 22-Feb-26 06:46:59

Oh my… i thought it was only me up so early. Have delayed engaging as my husband tells me its the cause of my sleep disruption. Hes in another room for now so less of an issue. My thoughts and prayers to all in difficult circumstances. It will pass x

grandMattie Sun 22-Feb-26 06:44:48

Love the flamingos, bellas; and happy birthday to Bella..
R&L I’m a bit puzzled by your ex-friend’s criticism of whatever you are supposed to have done. Cut her off entirely if she causes you so much distress. It’s not just what has happened, but also the distress it gives you when it endlessly resurfaces in your mind.

Bellasnana Sun 22-Feb-26 06:34:57

Good morning from Malta where we have a sunny day with a high of 16°C forecast. Still windy.

Fifteen years ago I was in the US watching DD2 give birth to DGD, what a special moment. I can’t believe she’s 15 and so grown up. Happy birthday to your DGS, Susan, and also to Grandmabatty’s DGS1. It seems a good day for birthdays!🥳

DD1 is on holiday in Aruba and sent these pictures of some of the locals near the beach. I thought you might like them!😄

That quilt is amazing grandMattie, you have the patience of a saint to do such a huge piece.

Roses I’m sorry you’ve been upset by your ‘friend’. I’m not sure what you are supposed to have done but I can understand why she has upset you.💐

Yesterday’s tennis final was superb! I’m a very happy bunny this morning!

Mass his morning then I have no idea what I will do with my day. Hopefully speak to DGD at some point. She had a little party with her softball friends yesterday so I’m not sure what the plans are for today.

Wishing a good day to you all.🤗

Melanie61 Sun 22-Feb-26 06:18:19

Good morning from Sheffield

We were rudely awoken by a passerby ringing our doorbell at 5 am this morning . Our house is directly onto the pavement so he just pressed it as he walked by. I suppose we should be grateful it wasn’t earlier but I was so fast asleep, which is a bit unusual at five. I’m normally awake.

It’s a big football day in Sheffield today. DH is off for his breakfast at 8 to the local spoons and then to the football all day so I have an empty. I will just potter about doing a few jobs and watching a film or maybe two and then there’s the crocheting to do

Take care everyone. Thoughts and prayers to the fgts flowers

RosesandLilac Sun 22-Feb-26 06:08:26

Good morning, wet again here in south Glos….
That quilt is amazing grandMattie, I really admire your skills and creativity 😍
Yesterday was slow going, I have drafted the begging letters, I will post them later today.
My erstwhile friend had another go at me about my encouraging ‘yobs and druggies’ to accumulate behind her house in the middle of the night 🙄, I walked away in tears while my husband agreed with her that anything we do will be vandalised! I was speechless.
It’s utter rubbish, if any do actually do this (and no one else sees or hears them as far as I can tell) then they’ll live on this small estate of 80 houses. They certainly won’t be from the village which is 2 miles away.
I feel thoroughly disheartened by the whole thing.
It
Sending hugs to all who need them 🤗🌹

Susan56 Sun 22-Feb-26 05:52:02

Wow mattie! The quilt is amazing.A labour of love.

Susan56 Sun 22-Feb-26 05:50:58

Good morning from Shropshire.A dry day forecast.

We are going to Staffordshire today to celebrate DGS1’s 8th birthday.

Thinking of all especially those struggling and those worried about loved ones.🦩🌻

grandMattie Sun 22-Feb-26 05:35:34

Good morning from Bristol. The rain is easing today.
Mick, our complex is of 30 flats; I’m always the first to wake up. Three others switch their lights on around 6 am, several don’t get up before at least 9 am!
I have finished the quilt for DGS at last. I didn’t much enjoy making it as it is huge (7 x 7 ft)and very heavy, boring monochrome because that’s all he likes…
I’m starting a scrappy one for the raffle at the ecological fete at the end of April.
Today, church then an empty. I might invite upstairs neighbour for tea later.
Thoughts to the poorly, the sad, anxious, and everyone else. Special hugs to fgt.
Carpe diem 🦩🦩🌺🦩🦩
