Saw Jupiter above the moon but clouds quickly covered the sky.

For once we had a clear sky but nowhere suitable to view the horizon at sunset. However Jupiter is very prominent in the south eastern sky the moment in close proximity to the moon. Nice to see stars of any description for a change, the night skies have been so cloudy this winter.

Clouds again here, but we did see the moon in a blue sky. That will have to do.

Tonight is looking a good bet here in Devon. We'll see.

Any one know how high above the horizon as we have trees and hills to the west but we do have dark shy

grandMattie

At sunset, in the west.
I won’t be able to see them as there is too much light pollution and buildings surrounding me.

Same here sadly.
Must be lovely to live where there are ‘dark skies’ such as Devon.

Nearly always wet or too cloudy here in South Yorkshire when these interesting things occur - as it is today.
Love your humour, Keepingquiet

Will try to see them again.
Saw them last time but we couldn’t see all of them clearly without a telescope. Lovely to see the ones we could.

We saw 4 of them last night, but there was light cloud. Hoping for a better view tonight as the sky is clear atm and we’re on the edge of a Dark Sky Park.

I heard this on the radio- it said you would need a telescope to see Uranus. I am still laughing! Funniest thing I've heard today...

Husband is very interested in astronomy and very frustrated in equal parts when rain and cloud cover always prevent seeing such events! Keeping fingers crossed for tonight for him, as so far the weather in Bristol is clear and sunny.

Fingers crossed I intend to go off to somewhere very dark and hope that there is no cloud, but not got much hope really, as it is already a grey day here in North Yorkshire

Rain again may stop play, but thanks for the reminder.

MartavTaurus Thu 26-Feb-26 07:45:25

Yes, usually 30 minutes after sunset.
Apparently the wonder is how tightly close together they will appear, though of course quite some distance apart in space.
Visibility looking OK here in the South West tomorrow, but heavy rain on the way. 🤞
