What’s still on your bucket list

Sorry to hear that. Shell but agree that volunteer work is a lifesaver. I help out in a busy community cafƩ once a week or more to cover shifts. I'm never lonely.

A cruise around Britain sounds good too.

A cruise around the British Isles,
Not much else really

That sounds fantastic, actually. Can I add a cruise around the Scottish Islands to mine?

Primrose like you I never had a bucket list, and my husband had a stroke 3 years ago and a brain tumour removed leaving him with use of one hand, the right. He also needs a quad stick to walk to the loo, can't walk much further sadly, going out is a pain isn't it? Urine bottle , making sure the wheelchair fits under the table in restaurants cafes etc which it often dosnt , the best thing I found is my volunteer job once a week in the morning while my husband is in day care, you make the most of it and finding places to go when you get any free time not stay in, even just going for a coffee taking an hour out of the day , the little pleasures mean a lot and who needs to go abroad ( my husband can't go on a plane) when we have such beautiful countryside in our own country,

I'm sorry to hear that Primrose.
We never know what turns life will take.

DH died 5 years ago and I have been gradually getting used to life by myself.
I met a woman on the train platform yesterday as we waited for the train to Scotland. She told me she was going to stay with her new partner. She'd been a widow for 18 years and never imagined she'd find love again and wasn't looking for it but in her later life she has!

I never had a bucket list, I always did what I wanted, when I wanted.

No use having a bucket list now as my life has changed completely since my husband had a major stroke. I’m lucky if I can get out for a couple of hours let alone take a holiday.

I guess my only wish for now is for him to be able to walk again or use his dominant hand again. Life is not easy with just one working hand.

Iceland and a northern lights cruise. Dubious about Iceland though, wary of volcanoes and getting stuck 😁
Our absolute dream would be a cross-Canada train trip but realistically with my husband’s health issues that’s not going to happen now.
Not complaining, though. We’ve been so lucky and travelled widely on 4 continents.

Just come back from a long trip to Newfoundland, Malta, Turkey, Singapore. Tracing family and Navy connections, researching possible future books. Back to Malta later in the year to donate family albums and papers to the museum. That's it for me. Don't need to travel any more, other than a zip across to Oz to see grandies. DH will not return to the UK. Nothing left on bucket list other than to finish book 6, and if the muse takes me, further scribblings. But no urgency...take or leave it. All I want is to look back on life with no regrets, no "wish we had..." Our cats, kids, friends, books and garden now. Oh, I might continue Italian studies, or Spanish, or making perfect compost, but too bad if it doesn't work out.

I think it's good to have things you want to do but just don't take it too seriously.

Before DH died but was being treated for cancer, we did several things together which we had never got around to. We spent our 50th wedding anniversary in Cornwall where we'd spent our honeymoon but this time there were the Lost gardens of Heligan and the Eden project, Poldark country as well. We also went to several Scottish islands.
I treasure those memories.

No snake though! It would be a pony for me.

We have recently started a U3A group for doing things we always wanted to try. So far there's been a gin tasting session, an afternoon at a famous skittles alley, a castle tour and later this month they are coming to my studio to do pottery.

Iv had children and grandchildren, happily married . I have some serious chronic health issues that mean I ā€œretiredā€ early . My husband still works so despite living on disability and his earnings I hope to enjoy my next few years .
We hope to

Visit various counties
Weekends away
Sort the house and garden into a sanctuary rather than functional.
Read and cook more
Enjoy hobbies, and iv discovered another in fine art .
I found it difficult at first but I’m trying to embrace the freedom .
And iv just bought a snake šŸ a life long dream
