Good morning from a beautiful, sunny morning in Torbay.

I am so sorry to read that you have had to face some horrid news about your health, RosesandLilac. The support on Gransnet is guaranteed but I hope you have friends and family with whom you can share, too.

Yesterday morning I spent most of the time making phone calls regarding the car which is now in Paignton being assessed. Nothing had been done for a week although the place where it was stored sent me a recorded delivery letter telling me I owed a sizeable sum for that! (Dream on!) As the chap who caused the accident is with the same insurance company, you’d think it would be more straightforward!

My trip to France has been postponed until later in the year. By rebooking, I haven’t lost any money on the ferry crossings or the overnights at Portsmouth Travelodge, both of which I’d booked as Flexible.

Wishing everyone a happy hump day! 🦩🥰🦩💐🦩

Roses my heart goes out to you what a shock for you (and us all here who care about you). 💐

Marydoll Wed 25-Mar-26 07:39:45

Good morning all from a cloudy Glasgow, where it is 3°C.

Roses, I am so sorry to hear your news and the way you heard it. I hope you are able to tell your husband, so that he can support you. 💐

I'm not feeling great, so will just wish you all a pleasant day.

Grammaretto Wed 25-Mar-26 07:39:34

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders where it's defying the forecast and sunny!

I didn't see your message Roses but it must have been bad news about your own health so I am wishing you strength and courage to face whatever the future brings.
🙏❤️

My recently bereaved friend came for supper last night and we talked and talked.
She's very thin. I hadn't really noticed before.

Today I am driving another friend to her eye appointment at the Golden Jubilee hospital - the other side of Scotland!
I'm driving her car which is a mobility vehicle and more reliable than my little one.

Baubles your technical abilities are a marvel. Did you mean you were sewing bags for weighting the roof?

Hoping everyone has some joy today.

dragonfly46 Wed 25-Mar-26 07:35:23

Good morning from a damp Leicestershire we had torrential rain and wind last night.

So sorry to hear your news Roses. When I was about 9/10 I used to spend all my pocket money on embroidery silks. I loved the colours especially the two tone ones. I would then come home and sew. I must have made lots of dressing table mats. Now I can’t thread a needle!
I hope you get an appointment soon flowers.

Today is a stay at home and do admin day.
Wishing everyone the best day possible.

Good morning Mick and all from a blustery Morecambe Bay. I’ve just posted on yesterday’s thread. Oops!
I’m hoping for a calmer day weatherwise as yesterday was horrendous. We took Crazy dog for his usual walk through the woods, then he stayed curled up all day, realising how awful the weather was. During his last walk there was a sudden flash of lightning followed immediately by the loudest clap of thunder. Crazy dog sensed something was coming as seconds before he shot under the hedge and laid down.
Shortly we will drive to the woods if the roads are passable. Hopefully if it dries up the onslaught of clearing brambles from our hedge will continue. The next job is to plant 5 bare root roses. Take care everyone.

Morning Mick, morning All. Our corner of Somerset is calmer after yesterdays wild weather.

We spent most of the day at an indoor museum with a very good cafe. A head wind on the motorway coming home was more than noticeable. Today it’s a shopping mall, more wet weather coming and the wind is picking up again.

roses, I’m sorry your suspicion was correct, hope the clinic appointment is speedy. Coincidentally a local friend had the same news yesterday, I’ll be supporting her at clinic appointments and hope there will be caring support for you too.

Best get a wriggle on. The shower is calling. The kitchen fairy is due to produce scrambled egg for breakfast and had best get organised. Our friends go home tomorrow, so far no food poisoning!

Best wishes to all. Have the best day you can everyone.

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s snowing and cold at about 3°
Roses thinking of you and hoping you get some family support and treatment soon 💐
I’m going to the gym this morning for a couple of classes followed by coffee with a couple of ladies and then home later. I’ll probably not do my usual riverside walk into town unless the weather picks up
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Wed 25-Mar-26 07:25:42

Good morning all from a wet and very windy south Manchester. Alexa says only 7°C and freezing tonight. I’ve got yoga mid morning and my friend from Chorlton is meeting me in the library. We will have coffee afterwards in Starbucks next door so that’s my whole morning taken care of and this evening I’m being picked up to watch L’il Miss swim at her lesson. Having something to do (but not too much and not every day either) helps steady the Ship of Grief.

Ladyleftfieldlover Wed 25-Mar-26 07:24:17

Roses, I’ve just seen your middle of the night post. 🌹

Redcar Wed 25-Mar-26 07:20:32

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. It’s sunny out at the moment but quite windy. A wet and windy night and I could hear things moving about in the garden, so will need to investigate soon.

Chair yoga this morning and a meeting this evening to discuss plans for further development in the village, which has grown massively since we moved here over 40 years ago.

Thinking of all those with worries and hoping the day brings some relief for you.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Gagagran Wed 25-Mar-26 07:16:58

Good Morning all from a bright central south coast. There are big puddles across the road from the heavy rain last night but it looks as if it may be better today. DH is out with his cycling chums so do hope so.

Roses I was so sorry to read your middle of the night post and hope that you find the words to tell your family - especially your DH. Family support is such a comfort and as always support will be readily available on GN. flowers

My visit to my choir friend yesterday went well but I was shocked to see how unwell she looked and how much pain she obviously is still in. There is talk of a shoulder replacement now and she is to have a scan next week to decide. It made me appreciate how much further on the recovery path my arm is and how much more I can do than she can manage. Her DH is even having to assist with her toilet visits as she can't manage her pants. I have never had to cope with. that.

I have choir this evening and hope for a good attendance but I do have misgivings about that. It does not bode well for our being ready to perform the more difficult pieces at the June concert.

Kindest thoughts to all our strugglers with hopes of some ease and comfort today.

Georgesgran Wed 25-Mar-26 07:14:13

Good morning from a fine, windy Durham. Seems cold though.
Just coffee with a friend this morning, then looking after DGS2 for an hour this evening. I’ve a sore throat and the beginnings of a cold.
💐Roses I hope you get an appt soon to learn what happens next.

Best wishes to all. X

karmalady Wed 25-Mar-26 07:13:49

I am loving the embroideries Roses Maybe one day I will attempt an embroidery, I can see lots of bookmarks for friends and family. Everyone loves a bookmark. First I have to learn

Susan56 Wed 25-Mar-26 07:08:25

roses so sorry to hear your news flowers

Ladyleftfieldlover Wed 25-Mar-26 07:07:57

Morning all from a very windy West Oxfordshire. I’m not that far from Fairford and was woken by very noisy planes.

The WI secretary is popping round this morning to go through the data base. I think all the members have now signed the new application form confirming they were born biological women! Most ladies seem rather bemused.

It is the final day of my V&A course on the Renaissance so I will have three lectures to watch. Then this evening a free WI lecture on London’s bridges.

Have a good day everyone especially those of you going through difficult times. 🪻

Usedtobeblonde Wed 25-Mar-26 07:05:38

Good morning from a calmer Stockport.
Like many we had a rough and noisy night.
At one point I wasn’t sure if it was wind or a rumble of thunder it was so loud.
Roses I send my kindest thoughts and prayers for you as you navigate the coming weeks.

Greyduster Wed 25-Mar-26 06:50:41

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire where the sun is up, but it’s going to be a mixed day. The wind was shocking yesterday - on the way home from school I drove round a corner and narrowly managed to avoid a large tree branch lying across my lane. It hadn’t been there on the way in. I had a message from my neighbour in the evening to say that my bin, which I had put out for collection, had blown over and scattered the contents. I never heard it as I was working in the kitchen with the radio on. He had picked them up and put the bin somewhere sheltered. Fortunately it was the bottles and cans bin, and not the paper and card bin!! I thanked him and said he should have knocked and the door and told me. He said he wouldn’t have dreamed of having me come out in it - he could barely stand up in it himself.

Writer group this afternoon at the library and then a trawl round M&S while I’m at the mall.

Have the best day you can, folks.

Grandmabatty Wed 25-Mar-26 06:50:32

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 3° and dry but cold. Roses what devastating news for you. I'm so sorry. 💐
Yesterday was a quiet day. The boys were good. I managed to catch the fish van and had lemon sole and chips made in the air fryer. I went to bed very early and had two really good stretches of sleep.
Today I must get to the charity shop with two bags of stuff. Baubles we're only allowed to hand over 2 bags at a time. I'll do a bit of tidying in the school library. Apparently I was being praised to a school visitor yesterday. Once back home, I'll potter. I might venture into the garden for a bit, depending on how cold it is. Have a good day all.

GrandmaC47 Wed 25-Mar-26 06:45:06

Roses 💐
I had a busy day yesterday. Hairdresser in the morning then dentist and hygienist after lunch. Back there on Monday for a replacement filling.
Early Sainsbury’s delivery today then no other plans. At least it’s not raining today.
Have a good day ladies.

GrannyGravy13 Wed 25-Mar-26 06:41:20

Good morning from a wet and windy S E Essex. It has been so windy overnight.

Off to the gym this morning, then a few jobs to do in doors.

My finished pieces

RosesandLilac Wed 25-Mar-26 06:33:13

Thank you so much Karma and Grandmattie, I very much appreciate the support and love from wonderful GNers, it’s truly comforting.

Well, it’s blowing a hoolie here, the rain’s lashing against the windows, a stormy start here on the hillside in south Glos. Tiddler and I will have a soggy walk this morning 😊
I have finished my embroidery, and a second one that’s a piece of slow stitching which I really enjoyed doing.
I have set up the next one, from a kit, so that will keep me occupied today.
After yesterday’s phone call from the lovely doctor I saw in ambulatory care, I am waiting for the clinic appointment to see what happens next. I’m oddly relaxed about it at the moment.
I haven’t told anyone, including DH.
I hope you all have a good day, thinking of those who are struggling and sending love and hugs x
