Good afternoon GN’s from East Hertfordshire.
Very breezy today and had rain and sleet earlier , the blue sky is turning grey now, might get more rain 🤨🤨
We’ve booked 4 days away to a Warners hotel in a couple of weeks to celebrate our 60th anniversary, hopefully our health and the weather will be kind to us 🤞🤞
Hope everyone is having a good day , and those in pain or suffering in any way , my thoughts are with you all .

Good morning from sunny East Lothian - we drove up from the south coast yesterday and arrived at our flat about 10.30pm. We should have left home earlier than we did (12.30pm) but the last minute clearing of the fridge, cleaning up etc always takes longer than expected- it seems to make no difference how much I/we have done in the week before.

RosesandLilac your embroidery is beautiful. I did track down your post on the 3am thread and am so sorry to read of your lung scan results. I hope you will soon be offered a treatment plan that will give you a better quality of life than you have had recently. I always enjoyed reading about your lovely countryside walks with the dogs.

Marydoll, sorry you are no better. Thinking of you and of your DiL 🌷

We will finish unpacking and stroll across to see DD and family. Twin (non-identical) DGSs are in the last few weeks of their school life with exams after Easter. One is hoping to get a university place but it will depend on results - he struggles with severe dyslexia and difficulty in concentrating on revision. The other is applying for the Royal Navy, having been a Sea Cadet for the past 5 years. If he isn’t accepted he will try Merchant Navy. He also has his challenges as he is autistic. His current ‘enthusiasm’ is piping (not bagpipes but a high pitched pipe that gives orders) for the Sea Cadets’ drill competition. He is hoping to get to the national final for a second time. I may need my ear plugs when round at their house 😂

💐 so sorry to read your post Roses and I too think your embroidery is lovely. x
I once started a tray cloth at school- I’d be about 15- it took me so long to do that I left school with it still unfinished! 😱

Yes Grammaretto I am ,they are going to help keep the roof on and the roofing felt down. Allotment, I had just replaced the felt november 2025, the wood was wet, the felt blew off and the shed fell down. I have ballast on now but it needs to be in rot-proof bags. My shed now has concrete slabs on the floor and is bolted down as much as I could, full water butts each side to support if it tilts. Nice and dry inside but I don`t trust those present ballast bags. I`ll have to take the ladder up in my car, on a very still day

Good morning from a chilly and very windy NE.
Sister and BIL visited yesterday and we went shopping, shelves were full of Easter eggs but the ones I wanted there were only two left.
GD got in touch last night to tell me that she had passed a music exam with distinction, we are planning a family celebration when her aunt returns to the UK next week.

Sorry to hear your news Roses, I know that feeling when you are told that further investigations are needed 💐

Grammaretto Wed 25-Mar-26 08:45:18

Whoops sorry Baubles and Karmalady but I am impressed by your crochet!!

BlueSapphire Wed 25-Mar-26 08:44:22

Roses, just found your post; I am so sorry and wishing you the best outcome. 💐💐

WhiteSwan63 Wed 25-Mar-26 08:32:11

Good morning from a breezy bright east coast. The beautiful magnolia is looking very roughed up after the windy night.

I had another migraine aura in the night. I woke up thinking there was water gushing down the passage at the side of the house but my phone was playing the sounds of a rushing stream. It must have come on after my flute music I had on to get to sleep and that’s when I noticed the auras. I took paracetamol and went back to sleep. I will be booking an eye test next week.

When I was young Roses I loved embroidery and was making a tray cloth for my boyfriend’s mum for Christmas but she died before I finished it just before Christmas and I put it down and never picked it up again. I was 19 I think.
Sending you special thoughts as you deal with your difficult diagnosis. 💐

I may go to the gym this morning and I have DGS after school. Our son got his new car yesterday with the help of DH and he brought it round to show me last night and he was beaming. I will tell GS and show him the picture just before his daddy picks him up as he had last night with his mother. He will be so excited.

Wishing all a pleasant day with moments of joy🌼

Good morning everyone from a bright Northampton, but showers expected all day. Felt freezing yesterday with a very chilly wind.

The outcome from my first cataract appointment yesterday was surprising - the consultant disagreed with my optician as to my worse eye, said that both needed doing, and will start with my left one (and not the right as my optician thought).
I have an appointment for surgery on 2nd June.

DD very kindly took me, and afterwards I treated her to lunch and wine at our local garden centre. I also bought a tray of pansies for my front door pots, some new secateurs and gardening gloves, which were buy one get one free.

No plans for today; shall probably hoover upstairs and then do the staircase. If there's a dry spell, I may plant the pansies.

Still have some leftover chicken, so it will be chicken soup for dinner.

Wishing all a pleasant Wednesday.

Good morning all.
I'm so sorry to hear your news Roses, big hugs and lots of love from me xxx

Good morning Mick and all GN's on a breezy chilly looking but bright morning in North Yorkshire. I have been awake for a long time but had such awful cramp, that I have only just dared to start moving about normally. I can only hope that following the doctors instructions means it gets less likely soon.

Yesterday I was rather plodding along, and everything seemed determined to be as awkward as possible, Strings tied themselves into tight knots and papers I had carefully gone through and sorted slithered to the floor in a pile etc. However I did manage to finish all the bedroom, and now have some good quality clothes going to support the Yorkshire Air Ambulance including a much loved silk shirt that I feel is now too short, having grown used to getting longer length T shirts and blouses. My tatty but sturdy bookshelf is now tidied and filled from end to end but soon I plan to get a new bookcase which will hold many more books and I shall return to my organised shelves of specific areas for different things such as gardening and a totally separate section for my music. Woe betide anyone who puts things in the wrong place! Anyway I was pleased with the result and the knowledge that though all the doors were now shut, the cupboards were all in a much better state than when I started and of course resolved never to let them get like that again Huh!! My friend arrived and we had a lovely afternoon and evening and the thick pork chops cooked well and were very good and the treat of some new fresh rhubarb to follow made a simple but enjoyable meal.

Today so far it is blustery but clear and hope it stays like that until lunch time as we are going out for lunch. They have started ,I think since covid, to do this restaurant week , both here and in Teeside and no doubt other places , where they want to encourage people to eat locally and bring trade in. So the scheme is simple . There is a menu with options to choose from, but the cost is £20 for a two course and £25 for a three course. As I am diabetic I usually go for the 2 course. What is clever about it, is that not only the cafes and restaurants that you may have been to before are involved, but one or two of the places you have felt are a bit too expensive or you may never have ventured there before are involved. So sometimes you have a good meal but dont think it is for you normally, but other times you discover a new place that then becomes a go to place. It not only generates business for the hotels and cafes but of course people make the most of it and often spend the day locally visiting other shops etc , so as today is also market day I am expecting a very busy town, and fingers crossed there will be some lovely fish soup on the menu at the place we are going to.

So , it is going to be put some glad rags on for once, well something smarter than normal but it will still be trousers I think ,as not quite warm enough for dressing up. It makes me think back to when I was a child, the majority of older women always wore dresses or skirts and at home had overalls or a pinafore over them. My granny ran her farm, where she fed animals and walked through fields etc but I never saw her in trousers ever. She would have stout boots and in the winter I presume thicker stockings but never trousers. How hardy people must have been then with no central heating or the really warm outer clothes to wear. On a farm near us they grew brussel sprouts as one of their crops and you would see the workers bundled up in coats and scarves and hats but they used to put a hessian sack as a sort of pinafore style thing to stop the wet going through. We are all as they say round here "nesh" and people complain of the cold even when they have much warmer outfits these days.

have a good trip into Bicester today Mick . Karmalady you had a very busy day yesterday didnt you? Put me to shame, GrandMattie sounds as though you did a fair bit of sorting at the meeting. Hope the same can be said of your new manager to get something going from your wretched landlords,RosesandLilac I could not find your post, but it sounds serious and I send you my best wishes , that you can receive the best care possible. Your embroidery is very lovely. We seem to have had the best of the weather as though it was windy it wasnt too bad and no broken branches around here, whereas many of you have had it much windier.

Hoping you all stay safe today and that the day brings something to enjoy for you all. Take care when you are out and about.

RosesandLilac Wed 25-Mar-26 08:14:27

Thank you for all the love and support, you have no idea what a comfort it is 🤗

ginny Wed 25-Mar-26 08:13:44

Good morning. It was very blustery and wet during the night and now dull and chilly.
Roses I have not seen your post but your news is obviously not good, thinking of you.
A see how it goes day and then DH is looking after two DGS early evening. I have a WI committee meeting. I expect the new membership forms will be discussed. They seem to be causing some problems.
Thinking of all who are worried or poorly.

baubles Wed 25-Mar-26 08:08:20

You have me confused with Karma I think Grammaretto, I wish I had her skills.

baubles Wed 25-Mar-26 08:06:36

Roses, I hope you don’t have to wait long for your appointment. Thinking of you.

Gingster Wed 25-Mar-26 08:06:31

Good morning and it’s bright, calm and sunny here in Essex after a wild night. The garden table blew over with a large plant on top.

Yesterday’s Bridge club was good and I was ‘top of the pops’ again. 😳. Two weeks running! 🥳. So good when you have a decent partner. 😉.

Today I’ll walk up to town , wander round the market and meet my friend for a coffee. Dd might join us but she has to sort out her phone, which has suddenly stopped working. .

Dh is going out for brunch with his old pal, who is a diamond 💎.

Roses so sorry to hear your news. 💐. Beautiful embroidery, you must have the patience of a saint . 😇.

FGT. Yes it’s good to keep busy. Just go each day with how you feel 💐.
Marzipan enjoy your few days away. Dh and I met in Torquay, on holiday with our families. We were just 16.

Take care all 🌺

Good morning from a sunny Suffolk. A.though I haven’t seen your message Roses I realise from the responses of others that you’ve had bad health news. My heartfelt sympathy goes out to you and Ihope you find strength and comfort from others to deal with it.

I have my monthly meeting by Teams which is just a morning one and I hope to catch up this afternoon on a bit more sorting out of the smallest bedroom, otherwise known as ‘the dumping ground’.

Thinking of all who are unwell or with worries.

karmalady Wed 25-Mar-26 07:58:43

Good morning from West Sussex coast, chilly but bright. The day has come at last for a phone call from the pain management doctor following the MRI I had last month. That showed significant problems so I have been looking forward to this morning’s appointment after a painful difficult month. Then this afternoon it’s a cortisone injection in my knee, been waiting for that since August! But squeezed in between I have my lovely hairdresser coming to work her magic. Lots to do and a bit of pampering too. Enjoy your day everyone

monk08 Wed 25-Mar-26 07:51:36

Good morning all from the Black country.
The roofers did a good job, we have had overnight rain and there are no big puddles on the garage roof before the water lay there for a considerable time.
No toddlers today they are off to a soft play as refreshments are served there I will not be needed.
Roses so sorry to hear your news💐.
Have the best day you can everyone whatever your plans ☀️.

karmalady Wed 25-Mar-26 07:49:57

Couldn`t help myself, after seeing Roses lovely embroideries. I am going to have another new and peaceful hobby. Mini kits ordered. A couple from ebay and a couple from the designer. Including lavender pouches and a christmas tree heart

How awful, Roses….what dreadful news to break to the family if the diagnosis is as you suspect.
Will be thinking about you, hugs from me, xx
