Good Morning Friday 27th March 2026

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. It’s cloudy and mild this morning, not sure what the forecast is. Yesterday was bright, but still with a chilly wind. Finished the dusting and vacuuming yesterday, and did some necessary admin. DD2 rang in the afternoon to say she’d had to bring littlest home from pre school in the morning as she’d fallen and scratched her face near her eye. After a quick check with an optician she was pronounced to be fine luckily.
I’m out to lunch with some friends later, we’re trying a local pub which has recently changed management, it has mixed reviews, but we’ll see! There are already two well established pub/gastropubs in the village and it will be interesting to see how it compares.

nannyjan lovely photos, thank you. A shame the weather wasn’t better, but at least it was warm and you didn’t have to cook or do housework!

Good morning. Dull but dry at the moment so DH is off for a game of golf. Yesterday I finally managed to contact the Optometry department re. the eye problem I was seen for four weeks ago. I’ve had no results despite leaving voice messages. I now have an email saying they will chase it up. I’m hoping no news is good news but as we are travelling abroad soon I need to let the insurance company know.
A couple of cakes to make this morning, one a new recipe, rhubarb and d ginger.
Later this afternoon we have a small exhibition of work done at the art class I have been attending, so will be there for a couple of hours.

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 6° and dry, although there are the remnants of rain visible. Lovely photos NannyJan. Grammaretto fingers crossed for the furniture removal.
Yesterday I did another trip to the charity shop. I have one more trip to go and I shall have cleared the dining room of stuff. I also did more clearing out in the hall cupboard. Little and often for that one, I think. In the afternoon, I had the last of the art class sessions. She's so busy with her own art that 5 weeks is as much time as she can give us. I was pleased with progress and I'll continue to work on it at home.
The new mats arrived for my new car, courtesy of dd. They look very smart(for mats). Dd and dsil were at dgs1s parents night where he got a glowing report.
Today I might go to a different charity shop with table lamps which need removed. I have a bag of children's books which no-one wants too. It seems a shame to bin them. Apart from that, I have no plans. I think my lovely neighbours have returned from Lanzarote as their blinds are firmly closed this morning (nosy neighbour me!) If so, I might see them out and about. Dinner will be macaroni cheese as i have milk to use up. Have a good day all.

I did the shed roof ballast yesterday morning, managed to get out of here before being blocked in at 8. I was very careful up the ladder at the back, sloping grass there so I had moved large paving stones and levelled them first, I only had a remaining inch either side of the ladder but slow and steady worked

The total ballast weight now up there feels a bit less than previous but it will work. There is concavity on each side but I have to live with that, need to preserve that roof. I have ordered wood hardener which will add a little bit of strength to the underneath. There is no way I know how to add extra support underneath. Sigh, DH would have fixed that roof properly with struts on the inside.

Machine is still occupying my dining table and I have cut all the cordura out to make several more of these bags, It is very strong and will last outdoors. These will just be for weighting weed fabric down or bisto chairs and tables in storms

That is going to be my job for today, to try and get those bags done, ready to fill at the weekend when I will bring the old weakest bags home, before the contents spill out. Ebay wax cotton was never good enough

Now I am recovering after a heavy sleep last night, I have an aching rib and need to be stretched on my teeter, fascia has a lot to answer for and needs to be pulled apart

Good Morning all from a dull again central south coast. It's not as cold though - 9 degrees on the outside thermometer.

We spent a lot of time yesterday, researching and discussing whether to purchase a small automatic car, possibly electric, for me to use. My left arm injury has not allowed the movement needed to change gear for 10 months and I do not want to be unable to drive for much longer. So the plan for today was to go and check out a model I fancied.

However, after sleeping on it, I am unsure whether we need to do that and I now think I should have a trial sit in our present car to see if the slow improvement in my arm movement would allow me to drive again, using the gears. If it does, and my arm continues the improvement, maybe I can try a short drive somewhere with DH ready to take over if necessary. I'll see what DH thinks when he gets up .

My choir friend emailed yesterday to say how much she is enjoying the Gervase Phinn book I took her when I went for coffee on Tuesday. She is in pain and bored being unable to do much at all. I thought it might amuse her - he was a teacher, is a humorous writer and she is a former teacher too so there is a connection of experiences.

As always, thinking of our struggling GNs and hoping for a better day today for all.

A few of us are going to meet up with a Radio Leicester presenter to talk about our lovely choir. I have to get going. Waitrose on the way home and then I have a hair appointment.

Luckily, we have ordered a 'gourmet burger' for this evening which DH will pick up.

Good morning from the east coast and rain is forecast this morning. Woken at six by very loud seagulls right outside the window I think.

It’s been a difficult couple of days as DH and I have had a fall out over DGS as sometimes he doesn’t understand him. He thinks I overindulge him. DGS having autism is mostly a gentle soul but can rule the house and that is the issue. It will sort itself out. DH is threatening to get his own house🤦 sorry for moaning.
I haven’t had migraine auras for a couple of days so I’m hoping whatever was going on has stopped now. I’ll keep paracetamol on me at all times just in case.
I had a lovely walk through two parks yesterday and bought new linens from NEXT and a dress for China for the wedding we have been invited too. Mosquitoes are a problem for me in China as they seem to target me and it will be hot so I live in floaty linens while there to keep me covered.

Today I’m going to mums to hoover her stairs and landing. Having little dog who is white the dog hairs are everywhere. I will incorporate a walk as well it’s needed to clear my head. I’ll pick up an iced latte en route.

Good morning Mick and all from a very wet Morecambe Bay, though it’s forecast to dry up later so it’s more gardening for me. I used to work full time gardening but now only have a couple of gardens to care for. I also look after a patch in our local churchyard but I haven’t woke that one up yet.
Yesterday was full on with a visit to the osteopath, a quick trip into the village shop for a few bits including a birthday card for a third cousin once removed who I met through ancestry, a visit to the building society in town to get a form for my son and finally I got the bare root roses planted. I hope Crazy dog doesn’t dig them up or eat them. He’s quite partial to a nibble of rose bush. Thinking of all with problems and heartache. Take care.

It’s a miserable day outside
I’m not doing my walk this morning but doing my big Friday cleanup. DH is still in bed ,he’s feeling a bit poorly with a sore throat and a cough so I’m on my own. I’ll just have a flick round.

I’m working this morning. My friend will come round for coffee at lunchtime and I dare say I will have a little snooze this afternoon.

It looks like the weekend‘s going be wet as well, so I’m not sure whether we’ll get out on our bicycles again on Sunday.

It’s nice to see the garden spring into life.

Good morning from a dull and cloudy Black Country.

Arrived home last night around 7.30pm, a trouble free flight home, left on time and landed around 5.30pm.

The weather wasn't particularly brilliant in Corralejo, rain a couple of days, and mostly cloudy albeit warm. But was a lovely break, and no meals to cook etc! Poor MrJ couldn't swim due to his recent medical procedure on his head, as wound still healing.

Unpacking and washing to put on shortly, and sort some admin out for both myself and Mum.

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. I haven’t peeked outside yet as I’m still in bed.

I was just putting on my first boot yesterday when the dentist rang to cancel my appointment. He had several emergencies so I have been rescheduled to next month.

My book group was fun. The theme was Japanese authors or books set in Japan. I talked about Remains of the Day, which is in my top five.

I am attending an Arts Society meeting this morning on John Singer Sargent. I have to drive in early as the parking is horrendous. I will have breakfast there. Afterwards I will drive to Oxford for the Literary Festival. I have a ticket to see Alan Johnson.

OH is also out all day with his Shooting Club. I will cook us salmon when I get home.

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders.

I was woken by the smoke alarm!
My tenants in the flat downstairs were also woken and we were both looking for the fire.
It turns out to be the electric kiln in the pottery which caused the room to fill with smoke/dust as the fan must have stopped working. I opened a window and the back door and it's stopped.
Phew! Good to know it works.

Back in bed with a cuppa.

What a wasted journey Mick. I wonder why you weren't informed . Surely you weren't the only patient put out.

As for your thoughtless DSis Roses. You may have to spell it out to her.

I have my shift at the community store this morning and a removals team will collect some of my big furniture this afternoon to
take to auction. I had to clear an exit route for the long benches.

We had our final ceilidh dancing last night until the Autumn.

My friend may come for supper tonight.

Good morning, it’s cool and damp here in South Lanarkshire.

Hope you’re feeling a bit better now Mick, how annoying that your appointment wasn’t cancelled before you got there.

I had a day of proper cleaning yesterday, got into all the corners and wiped down all the woodwork. Nothing like the prospect of having a house guest to put a rocket under me.

DD and I are off to Dublin early tomorrow to visit family, I still have two aunts and an uncle there as well as many cousins and I do try to see them while they are well.

My brother who lives abroad and my sister who lives four hundred miles from me will meet us there and she will return with me and stay for a few days.

Today I’m having a visit from someone who will take my measurements for a support garment. The belts I have been prescribed for the last couple of years don’t work for me so we’ll see if she has a better solution.

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire where it is raining hard at the moment. Yesterday was lovely if a little chilly, and I went for my usual Thursday walk, opting to go with the faster and further group in an effort to push myself a bit. I enjoyed it, but my legs didn’t. I had a very pleasant
Iunch with DD during which I had a call from a chiropractor whom I had contacted, to arrange an appointment. I shall see her after Easter. Came home and cleaned some trays ready to sow flower seeds this weekend and spent the rest of the afternoon reading.

I shall go to the gym this morning, and then I have a short session at school this afternoon. GS is back this evening for the Easter recess and I am so looking forward to seeing him.

Roses I’m with you. Wash it, shove a brush through it and all good😁!

Bellasnana: Some years ago my ex and I had a holiday in Malta at Easter when the weather wasn’t great. One day, we braved it in shorts whilst local folk were in Winter coats!

It’s good to have sorted out some people to support you, RosesandLilac. It relieves your mind to have them in place, I expect.

Yesterday, after my hair appointment, DH and I spent a most enjoyable few hours in the company of Marzipan22. We met at a hotel on the seafront where a few glasses of Chardonnay added to the conviviality.

Today my cleaner is due so we shall probably go out for a while in the (hated!) hire car. Now I’m not going to France any time soon, I need to do a Lidl shop, not least because DH will be here for another 10 days or so.

I really don’t want to walk the 40 minutes to my Spanish class in this, my usual lift isn’t going. I’ll try to get one of my classmates to take me in but are holding my breath. Bus is too complicated…
We had a very long day in London, the traffic getting in and out was atrocious; it took nearly 2 hours together out of London! I was exhausted.
Yes, it was the Constable/Turner exhibition. I enjoyed it very much but wasn’t so sure about the curation; in fact we both felt that after nearly 2hours and 2/3 through, we couldn’t take any more and left.
Yes, I did take the two huge large print books so I didn’t have to stick my nose against the labels, but got very irritated by the people who endlessly took photos.
All in all an excellent, if exhausting day out. The coach journey was smooth but so very long.
I’d taken lunch for both with me which we ate in the sunshine in a little park next to the Tate.
You sound much happier today, “bellas*, I hope your hair doesn’t get wet later.

Good morning, dull, grey skies here in south Glos, chilly too.
I enjoyed my trip to the hairdressers yesterday, had a good chat and giggle and I love my new hair style, short and choppy. I’m not someone who can faff with their hair so it’s an easy wash and go style for me 😊
I did usual housework when I got back and sorted out the fridge and freezer, we’re not going to starve any time soon!
I have also found a potential cleaner and someone to walk tiddler should I be unable to, so that’s good.
My bossy sister phoned briefly, she thinks keeping busy and never sitting down is the answer to everything. She doesn’t listen and abruptly rang off when I said that I couldn’t meet her for coffee because I have a hospital appointment that day 🤷🏼‍♀️
All the washing dried nicely on the line, such a satisfying thing for me!
All’s well at the moment so long as I don’t think…. Such a surreal time.
Let’s hope the sunshine returns today 🌹

Good morning from a very wet, windy and gloomy looking Malta. The high today is 13°C and the low only 5°C. I pity the poor tourists who are coming for some sun as it seems we are having winter now. 🥶

Yesterday was lovely and sunny so I took Milo dog for a long walk which we both enjoyed very much. He behaved very well, ignoring passing dogs instead of his usual reacting to them. I was proud of him!

My treasures arrived after school and I kept them both whilst DD3 went to do her nails (like mother, like daughter!) She then came for DgS2 and took him for a haircut. DGS1 wanted to stay with me so I enjoyed his company.

When they first arrived, DGS1 had left his precious dinosaur book in the car so went with his mum to get it. DGS2 thought he was going with his mum to do her nails and said ‘Good, I need a bit of peace!’😂. They do make me laugh and lift my sagging spirits, bless them.

I shall have to venture out in this vile weather as I have my hair appointment at noon. I walked it last week but won’t be able to today with a force 8 wind blowing. 💨

Sorry you had a wasted journey to the hospital, Mick and hope your innards have settled before you go out.
