Morning Mick, morning All from a grey, chilly corner of Somerset

The wind was biting yesterday and took away enjoyment of the sunshine. So cold.

A quiet day ahead, we hope, as we need to be up and gone by 6.30 tomorrow to meet our son and travel north for a funeral. There is a difficult dynamic around this one and I’m quite anxious about it and for our granddaughters.

Best wishes to all. Have the best day you can everyone.

Gingster Sun 29-Mar-26 08:19:33

Good morning all. Bright but still chilly here in Essex.
Goodness that wind yesterday was icy.

DS1 worked hard in our front garden, digging up old roots and getting compost and stones. He later came back and took Dh to a local footie match which they both enjoyed.

Today Dd and DGD will come for lunch and then we’ll walk up the hill to our local community hall for a flower / crafts festival.

We’ll meet friends there and have an afternoon tea.

Marzipan I’m glad you enjoyed your few days away . Always lovely to get home though, isn’t it. I love your patio.

Roses lovely for you to have your son and family for Easter. Especially as he’ll be doing all the cooking.

Ash what a shame about your church. They will miss you if you leave.,

I’m looking forward to ‘The other Bennet Sister’. I wonder why they had a gap in the episodes. Confusing!

I hope you all have a restful, gentle day.🌺

ginny Sun 29-Mar-26 08:18:02

Good morning. Up a little later than I was intending after an unsettled night.
A quiet day planned. I have an on line watercolour lesson in a couple of hours and then will put a few Easter decorations on the hall table. There are things to gather together for a craft day with my two younger DGSs tomorrow.
The next few days will be busy.
Wishing all a peaceful Sunday.

GrannyGravy13 Sun 29-Mar-26 08:11:58

Good morning from a bright, sunny S E Essex, still rather chilly though.

Nothing happening here at Gravy Grange today, I didn’t get round to opening my Kindle yesterday, so hopefully I can settle on the sofa with it today.

Thinking of those with troubles or illness 🙋‍♀️

Grammaretto Sun 29-Mar-26 08:11:05

Daffodils picked yesterday from my garden before the winds

Grammaretto Sun 29-Mar-26 08:09:21

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Wintery weather for my walk today.
Goodness Marzipan I thought your garden was the Eden project! It looks so
lush. East West home's best

I came down to make a cuppa about 4 ish, decided to change the kitchen wall clock but only succeeded in knocking it from its hook so the battery fell out and is lost behind something.

I have tons to do before the auction house removers come back so clearing the giant bookcase is first on the agenda.
We had hoped another family member would take it but noone has space. A friend/ex helper is coming later today to help with that and we'll go to the cinema later.

I hope everyone has the sort of day you like.

Good morning from an overcast NE, the wind has moderated which is a relief.
DS and GD visited yesterday and we had dinner together and then GD played the piano followed by DS playing the mandolin.
GD also streamed songs from the musicals oh her phone as my TV no longer supports iplayer.
Quiet day today, will watch some TV.
Have a good day.

Happy Birthday to your DH luluaugust enjoy your family lunch together 🎉

Susan56 Sun 29-Mar-26 07:59:53

We stopped attending our church for similar reasons Ash.Sad as it’s where DH and I met and got married but we realised we were just going out of habit and we weren’t enjoying the services.

Enjoy your meet up with your son Grandmabatty and your breakfast.Sounds good!

WhiteSwan63 Sun 29-Mar-26 07:59:49

Good morning everyone from the east coast and another windy day is forecast.

Yesterday we visited our best friends and it’s heartbreaking seeing him almost bed bound now. He’s so thin too. Whenever my friend made another cuppa us girls chatted in the kitchen while the men watched football. She knows she has our support. Next year us girls have been best friends 50 years so will do something special together.

I got another migraine aura yesterday and it was exactly the same time as it was the Saturday before. I was upset because I don’t know what’s going on. I’m writing them down when I get them and also my blood pressure because I will go to the docs after my eye test in a couple of weeks probably after China if they carry on.
Today DH wants to go in the garden and clear the debris from the wind and fill the garden bin up. I will probably go for a walk. I may do some chicken legs in the oven for tea.

Hoping today is filled with moments of joy and special family visits. Thoughts to those struggling with illness and worry🌼

luluaugust Sun 29-Mar-26 07:57:32

Good morning from a bright W Kent. DH is 83 today and we are having lunch with all the family that can make it. Afterwords we are going to DD2 to cut a birthday cake. Hoping all goes to plan with the hour change
Best wishes to all

kittylester Sun 29-Mar-26 07:55:48

Good morning all from a chilly and grey North Leicestershire. There was a fabulous red sky earlier on.

We had a lovely time with Persie yesterday - she has such a lot to say.

Tiday, we are going out for lunch at a small restaurant in the village abd reading the papers.

Grandmabatty Sun 29-Mar-26 07:54:30

Bad news, not van news.*

Susan56 Sun 29-Mar-26 07:54:04

Good morning from Shropshire.Dry at the moment but rain forecast for most of the day.

Yesterday we had sunshine, rain, wind and hail but DH still managed to cut both lawns and wash the garage door. The children enjoyed playing in the garden,H was feeling better and spent time making mud pies 🤦🏼‍♀️he was muddy up to his elbows and knees!DGD was practicing her dances for her upcoming exam so a good time had by all.

Today I have a cardiology appointment at lunchtime then on to Staffordshire to DD2’s.

It will be lovely to see your son and family Roses☺️

My thoughts are with all who are struggling and wishing everyone the best day possible 🦩🌻

Grandmabatty Sun 29-Mar-26 07:53:55

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 6° and pouring rain. Bellasnana enjoy having your boys a Roses i hope you have sunshine and can get into your garden.
Yesterday I had a nice catch up with my pal. She was struggling with all the van news in the world and closer to home, so we decided to talk about happy things. I remembered to pick up a gift card for dgs2s nursery teacher who is getting married. I bumped into my lovely neighbour who was there with her sisters. By all accounts, lanzarote has been very wet and stormy.
The rest of the day was spent in washing and remaking the bed and generally faffing about.
Today I'm heading to Stirling to meet ds for breakfast. A new Turkish restaurant has opened which he tried for dinner and he asked if I wanted to try for breakfast. The lady already has the most amazing bakery and café, so I readily agreed. It'll be nice to see ds and have something a bit different. After that, I'll have a lazy afternoon. I will make soup at some point and a chicken curry. Have a good day all.

Gagagran Sun 29-Mar-26 07:51:15

Morning all from a still chilly but sunny central south coast. It's laundry this morning and I am all set up - just waiting for my assistant to turn up to help! His breakfast is waiting for him and all he needs to do is carry the laundry bins downstairs. I daren't risk it myself with my arm problem.

DD and her partner are safely back from Ecuador after their adventure holiday in the Amazon. She will be telling me all about it later today after they have caught up on some sleep.
This is the same anxious teenage girl who was scared of going on a train journey on her own in case she missed her stop to get off! Now a seasoned world traveller!

DH's Easter egg came with the Tesco delivery yesterday and has been secreted in my hiding spot for surprises until Easter Sunday. I don't like Easter egg chocolate as it always tastes stale to me but the chocolates inside always taste alright!

I am thinking of all our GNs struggling with anxiety, pain or struggles of any kind and hoping Palm Sunday brings some relief and comfort. sunshine

Marzipan22 Sun 29-Mar-26 07:50:18

Good morning from a very still, overcast Cornwall. I meandered my way home yesterday, stopping off at Totnes en route, and was home by the evening. It was lovely to walk into my little flat full of colour. Much as I enjoyed the hotel room I found it grey and bland. It was a joy to see my patio again. The echium has grown several inches this week and the wild garlic I planted last year is about to flower.

Today we have café church which is nice as we get to sit at tables and have discussions. Afterwards I'll hop on a bus and go to M&S and buy a tasty treat for tea to round off the week.

Ashcombe Sun 29-Mar-26 07:42:14

Good morning from a brightish Torbay.

No early service at my church as there’s a combined Parish Mass at 10,00am. That means the incense will be in free flow which makes me cough so I’ll stay at home. I’m seriously considering giving up with my church. We’re still without a priest and I no longer feel enriched by attending.

Your granddaughters' show sounds great, Redcar; I’m sure you’ll enjoy it. 🩰💃🏻🎭

A blessed Palm Sunday to you all. 🦩🥰✝️💐🦩

NannyJan53 Sun 29-Mar-26 07:41:45

Good morning from a chilly and cloudy Black Country.

Surprised to wake up at 7.15, but then remembered it was really 6.15.

There is a new walking group walk this morning, meeting nearby at the canal. So I will walk down to meet them. It is only once a month.

Roast chicken today, then hoping soon it will be more BBQ weather, with salads.

Wishing you all the best day possible.

Ladyleftfieldlover Sun 29-Mar-26 07:31:26

Morning all from a slightly cool West Oxfordshire.

Church this morning at my favourite church in the Benefice. It is tiny and Georgian,

I am looking forward to The Other Bennet Sister which starts again this evening. I will cook beef bourguignon for dinner. Probably for the last time until next winter. It is Easter next weekend (leg of lamb) and after that it should be warmer and not really casserole weather! I need to think of a pudding. I have some cream left over from the chocolate peppermint ice cream I made yesterday, and I always have chocolate and lemons.

Have a good day everyone.

karmalady Sun 29-Mar-26 07:29:47

Good morning from s somerset, cloudy and perhaps dull, a bit of damp and certainly cool and windy

I had been contemplating going to the allotment today, I want to put hardener on the shed ceiling but no, the weather is not nice enough. I want to be up there in joyous weather-driven mood as I will need to empty the shed

I am so glad to be in summer time again, this suits me, up early and bed early

I will probably do low-level cleaning, shower edges and skirting. My older eyes just don`t see much by the floor and it won`t take me long. No other work nor maintenance planned today so the day will be hedonistic and I will enjoy spinning, reading and so on, not forgetting my all-important hilly short walk

Old sewing machine was very easy to clean, no fluff from cordura, Oiled and ready for the next time I want to sew on her, I broke two needles and threw two away. Goodness she is heavy and in her storage case, weighs over 26kg. I moved all the cams and gears inside by running it through the 33 different stitch patterns, without needle or thread, also buttonhole and stitch lengths. Nothing is stuck and so she is in good condition, not bad at all for a machine I only bought for parts. She is a Bernina record 930

I enjoyed sitting out every time I had a drink yesterday, I cannot see me doing that today

Redcar Sun 29-Mar-26 07:12:25

Good morning everyone from mid Essex, it’s sunny and frosty out again. Rain is forecast for later.
I have already had to reprogram the underfloor heating in the bathroom, as it thinks we’re in January 2011. All ok now, but I think the control panel may need to be replaced as it seems to revert to 2011 for no reason.
Two of the DGDs are involved in a show put on by their dance and drama classes, which is at lunchtime, but they have to be at the theatre by 9.00. DD1 will collect me at about 10, we’ll go for brunch then go to the theatre for the performance.

I hope that all who are in pain find some relief today.

Have the best day possible everyone, enjoy a peaceful Sunday.

Good morning Mick and all GN's on a dark still but dry so far morning in North Yorkshire. Can just see the outline of the tree, so not totally dark, but it will take me a day or two to get used to the new timings, as not a good sleeper anyway. Ah well will enjoy the lighter evening.

Yesterday I had a quietish day. Rather a struggle with knees as well as back and needed to go onto the market so went on the yellow peril with mac etc as we were told to expect heavy rain. Nothing of the sort, it stayed windy and chilly all day, but not a drop of rain. Lots of people out early, as no doubt they also thought they needed to get out before the rain. Hadnt planned to get a great deal but had forgotten that there was to be a "Ukranian Market " in the town hall and called in there. It was supported by Ukranians from all over the region, and was very interesting. There were stalls of all sorts of things, some wonderful woodwork things with also beautiful painted eggs - no faberge ones avialable - a whole honey stall, food, and lovely embroidery. The stall holders were all wearing lovely costume and looked delightful. They also were serving borsht and little pancakes and of course cakes that I couldnt have. At the woodwork stall I bought some beautiful little wooden eggs and plan to give them to a friends children for them to paint themselves and then do "Pace eggs" on Easter Sunday. . It was all very interesting and worth visiting and as I went on to more shopping, I told various people , including a group visiting for the day etc., and then returned myself to sample the borsht and little pancakes, which were delicious, and saw two couples who I had told about the do, enjoying themselves too. A gentleman from one of the stalls came over and thanked me for directing people there as he had asked someone who had told him and they said the lady in the red coat on the buggy, which was me of course. I was only too happy to help them raise what money they could for Ukraine.

So that was quite an unusual start to the shopping and then went on to Tesco to get more mundane things and then home to unpack and sort stuff out. I would have liked to get out into the garden as it stayed dry and windy all afternoon, but couldnt manage it after my morning, so read my paper and listened to the opera from the new york met, Traviata, in the evening. So plans for today are just staying in, and might tackle the ironing if I feel up to it. I shall enjoy my music but will be out of kilter with the clocks changing and need to see which things have changed automatically and those I need to faff about with myself.

Mick hope you enjoy your cycling later. GrandMattie, hope the service goes well and you manage to have a little nap this afternoon to revive you. RosesandLilac, hope you get a little sunshine later today to enjoy your garden. My honeysuckle is sprouting and I need to get it wound in and out of the willow obelisk thing before it gets too stiff to bend. Perhaps a job for today. Bellasnana hope you enjoy the tennis , even without your favourite in the game.

The sky has lightened somewhat, but still very grey. Time to creak off for a shower and hope that it will help me to move about a bit easier. Wishing you all a good Palm sunday and a peaceful and calm day

Bellasnana Sun 29-Mar-26 06:03:53

Good morning from Malta where it’s just getting light, the wind has dropped and we are forecast a cloudy day with a high of 17°C and a low of 6°C. Evidently this week is going to have very wintry weather.

I had the boys yesterday, what dear little chaps they are. They were both good as gold and not missing their mum at all. She’s in Florence with her friend having a break until Monday.

I will have the boys today for a while then their daddy takes over. He’s a lovely man, understands DD3’s need to escape from all her responsibilities and is great with the boys. They are all off to Bologna next weekend for a family holiday.

I’m up, showered and dressed as I couldn’t sleep but I had gone to bed early so I think I had about 6 hours which isn’t bad.

I’ve stripped the bed and the sheets are in the machine. It won’t be a day to dry them outside, unfortunately.

I don’t like this change of hour. We keep being told they aren’t going to do it any more but here we are…….

Tennis final tonight should be good. Now Alcaraz is out I don’t mind who wins which makes watching it a lot less stressful! 😅

Wishing a peaceful Sunday to you all.🤗

RosesandLilac Sun 29-Mar-26 05:26:42

Good morning from cold, dark and cloudy south Glos, I’m hoping for sunshine today but rain is forecast.
Yesterday I gave the kitchen a good clean and tackled the muddle in the living room, sorted out my yarn to give to my lovely neighbour for her to make gnomes and trolls for charity.
I did sit in the Shed briefly but I had the fidgets.
DS and family are coming for Easter, it will be lovely to see them again. I’ve sorted an online food shop and DS will do most of the cooking which is wonderful!
Everything in the garden is growing quickly, my clematis are in bud, primroses everywhere, it’s looking lovely.
Best wishes to you all 🌹
