A huge march against the Far Right

I bet this march was organised by a bunch of London based Wokes. and their friends on the media.

That reads like a slogan rather than an argument. Real life is a bit more complicated than ‘everyone who disagrees is a threat.

Some people (yes, them again) just don’t know how fortunate they are. The country they describe bares no resemblance to the one we live in. No wonder anxiety and depression is on the rise when so many seem to wallow in negative, critical moaning and exaggeration of the difficulties we face.
The country is not ‘on its knees’.
It’s making me think we need a bit more Dunkirk Spirit and blessings counted.

If I was a migrant worker in the NHS or care industry I would be complaining like hell about the way I am paying taxes to support the freeloaders who won't cross the road to do the work that I have travelled thousands of miles to do.

Many of those in the NHS that were born overseas and highly paid, probably a majority of consultants are migrants, there are many other doctors and nurses too

Very unfair David49. Many of those are desperately trying to get work but the jobs aren't there.
Not everyone is able to become a doctor or nurse and it requires special skills.
I know some young people who attend several interviews a week, sometimes get second interviews and then nothing.
Calling them freeloaders is insulting to those who would much rather be in work.

Actually 22% are foreign nationality, many migrant NHS staff have obtained British nationality so the number is far higher for those born overseas.

Actually 22% are foreign nationality, many migrant NHS staff have obtained British nationality so the number is far higher for those born overseas.

For 18–24 specifically, there are about 700,000–750,000. Please check data before basing your argument on it.

"NEET” is often misunderstood. It includes very different groups:

Someone temporarily between jobs
Someone with serious health challenges
A young parent

So, around 1 in 8 young people (18–24) in the UK are NEET. The biggest drivers are health issues, job market barriers, and disengagement from education/work pathways, rather than a single cause.

I knew about it and am with you definitely against them, and think it was a good job to show how you felt. I spoke to several people here and we are also proud of them. I was busy supporting a special Ukrainian day we had here , which went very well and that is the way we try to help around here, and make people feel cared for and welcome

I have not attacked anyone for having different views. I am simply saying that the constant belittling (loony lefties, woke Londoners and so on) is 'not in the spirit of Gransnet'.

I'm only just catching up with this thread Bluebelle. Well done for posting, and starting a debate.
I agree that some of the rhetoric is demoralising but, I think, comes from a very vocal minority. I knew who was going to be adding negative, derisory comments as soon as I saw the post .
