Yesterday we had a massive march believed to be 500.000 people in London against the Far Right and not a word on here, vey little on the news and way way down towards the bottom on the BBC news page
I ve put this in chat as I m not looking for hard politics or arguments but I m proud of the people marching against the rise of the far right, against the division and hatred that is currently being spewed out by Farage and friends
Well done London and all the people who travelled to give out a message of togetherness, of kindness, of inclusion.

What do you understand by British identity? sixandahalf

Allira Sun 29-Mar-26 13:18:42

Identify away to your hearts content wrapped in a flag if you wish.
Thanks 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

What is this loss of British identity? Really I don't get it.

Identify away to your hearts content wrapped in a flag if you wish.

Thank God, young people are so switched on.

sixahalf you do realise that the photos from this demonstration yesterday didn’t place it in the UK? It could have been anywhere. So if it’s okay with you, a whinge about St George is quite minor considering the loss of British identity currently being approved of by the msm.

I didn't see it as a whinge, ronib.

We rarely agree but I do agree with you about this; as I posted above, a perfect time to reclaim our national flags from the far right. They do not own them.

Allira Sun 29-Mar-26 12:35:55

BlueBelle

Ronib unfortunately our flag has been used and abused by the Far Right hate mob, so it may take a little while for us to reclaim it

The perfect time to reclaim it, I would have thought.

Your thread is the first I've heard of this.

500,000 march to oppose the "Far Right" yet the party gaining most votes is right wing Reform maybe that shows how far out of touch Londoners are.

According to the BBC, the police have said the numbers were around 50,000 that’s an awful lot less than 500,000…

Oreo Sun 29-Mar-26 11:49:42

Tho the police say it was more like only 50, 000 not the number claimed by organisers .

Couldn’t help but wonder where were the Union Flags and St George’s Cross flags?? Was this really the future of the UK? Iranian and Palestinian flags but not our own plus of course a video from Elon Musk. What’s not to like?

A dreadful advertisement for our country. As usual the hate fest of the far left has no time for the country they live in.
Heard more hatred from them towards ordinary British people who are so fed up with the way this country is going, admiring vile terrorist regimes, such as Hamas and the ircg being idolised on the streets our forebears fought to keep away, fascism was there . Far right has nothing on this lot.

Being Rebecca Of Sunnybrook Farm simply won’t get us anywhere.

So very easy to say those sort of things Cossy isn’t it?
The real world shows you how things stand, so what you mean is that you want Utopia … yes wouldn’t that be nice? Not going to happen tho.

^... it wasn’t unified about anything.^

Were you there? I was.

Sadly, a thread that Bluebelle started with good intention has very quickly been hijacked by the usual negative people. Time to hit that hide button.

Yup!

Let’s see the very worst in everyone and everything and let’s call those who hope for a better future for our children and grandchildren “naive”.

I know which approach I prefer, and thank you meandrogrog for your kind comment!

I live in the same world as the rest of us, I still have hope and empathy and 🙏🙏 I always will flowers

There are two different demographics of Iranians who live here, those who fled the country after the Revolution, we lived next door to such a family for over 20 years in our previous house. Then there are those who support the Mullahs and the hard line regime, that has murdered so many of its brave young people, which begs the question why are they here and not back there.

I agree, those who back such a disgusting and murderous regime should go back there and live it!

I also agree, hence my previous post regarding the Iranian flag/s (which were not so called Shah’s flags) on the march.

Oreo Sun 29-Mar-26 11:33:36

When negative means true and realistic Graphic you’re at liberty to hide it.

The level of naivety on here is astounding at times.

It certainly is.

That’s my question too, what the heck are they doing here if they love the oppression and the mullahs so much?

So what do the Iranian and Palestinian flags represent? Cossy

Solidarity, I would imagine.

I wish our flags hadn’t been “hijacked” I still them as representing our country and see many flying in windows and on cars during international sporting events.

If people hadn’t hung our flags everywhere, blinding following Farage and crew, then I have no doubt these people marching would have happily marched proudly waving our flag, along with others.

Unlike some, these marches believe in equality for all, love for all, hope for all, that includes all of us as well as our foreign brothers and sisters.

You do live in the sunny uplands Cossy!

Put my name down for a march against the Far Left!

😂 Just as unlikely to happen here ( government wise) as the Far Right.

Oreo Sun 29-Mar-26 11:17:39

Unity against division doesn’t mean anything concrete. There were so many reasons for those on the march that it wasn’t unified about anything.

JenniferEccles Sun 29-Mar-26 11:15:51

Graphite Sun 29-Mar-26 11:08:55

Exactly, a total mish mash of groups with different gripes.

Our members represent over 15 million people. We are teachers, firefighters, care workers, cleaners, midwives, engineers and so much more. We’re all marching for unity against division.

What is wrong with that, Oreo?
