A huge march against the Far Right

The march was a mish mash of people. There were a large contingent of pro Palestinian and even pro Iranian regime numbties as well as the love thy neighbour and far left contingent with a sprinkling of the usual ‘whattya got’ rebels.
All it achieves is a euphoric feeling in the marchers brains.
I wonder if all these ‘free thinkers’ and ‘welcome the stranger’ marchers would do if SocialServices turned up on their doorsteps with a couple of asylum seekers off a boat and asked them to home them indefinitely.

Oh dear, I was hoping for better than the whole " Would you have them in your spare bedroom" rhetoric.

There’s no far right government here and never likely to be so marching isn’t just a waste of time but pointless.

I'm not sure what any of these marches achieve whatever their politics.

The bottom line is people are coming together for peace, to remind us we are all the same underneath.

They represent many people’s views, ethos and beliefs, including mine, that we must never lose hope.

Hope in peace, hope in humanity, hope that one day those in charge will discover war serves no purpose other than lining other despots purses, it shows ordinary people simply wanting to live their own lives and protect those lives of those they know and live, but also those who they don’t know.

You may feel it’s all pointless, but along with many many others I don’t 🥀🥀

It's probably pointless saying this, as only a few people will see it and it will achieve nothing, but IMO when people band together to resist hate it gives hope and a feeling that one is not alone in wanting a better world. I, for one, have taken that from hearing about the march, from this thread (thank you BlueBelle) and from seeing Cossy's photos.

Here are some photos taken from the march, they were shared on FB from people I know personally.

They are kind and loving Christians who show their faith and forgiving natures in both their professional and personal lives, they were joined by other free thinkers with similar ethos.

It is utterly pointless and somewhat frustrating trying to have any kind of meaningful exchange.

As intelligent people we are capable of holding many thoughts simultaneously eg I am worried about the rhetoric from Farage, I feel sad about the Middle East, I want to live well in my community .

Saying "whats the point" as it results in no immediate specific government action is in fact missing the point

it is part of building a movement where marches are just part of what happens.

News gets out - not just by MSM these days - I subscribe to a couple of newsletters that regularly share anti far right stuff on a very ordinary and sanguine basis - and millions do too.

Solidarity, I would imagine.

I wish our flags hadn’t been “hijacked” I still them as representing our country and see many flying in windows and on cars during international sporting events.

If people hadn’t hung our flags everywhere, blinding following Farage and crew, then I have no doubt these people marching would have happily marched proudly waving our flag, along with others.

Unlike some, these marches believe in equality for all, love for all, hope for all, that includes all of us as well as our foreign brothers and sisters.

We have weekly silent peace meetings with similar flags and words cossy.

I expect people carrying those flags have many personal meanings - I wouldnt myself, but seeing them reminds me and I hope others, not to ignore the suffering of innocents in Gaza, the West Bank, and Iran, perpetrated and backed internationally by far right regimes ( not the peoples in that regime).

sixahalf you do realise that the photos from this demonstration yesterday didn’t place it in the UK? It could have been anywhere. So if it’s okay with you, a whinge about St George is quite minor considering the loss of British identity currently being approved of by the msm.

I think people have already explained why the absence of our own flags, and is sad, and solely due to our lovely far right fractions literally high jacking both the Union and George cross flags and hanging them everywhere in what is not, imo, any kind of national pride, but a “warning to all them foreign people”

The numbers taking part were puffed massively by the organisers.

So very grateful to all those who were on this demo in London. Gave me back some hope for the future. Would have loved to have been able to be with them - I did my share back when I was younger!!!!
Yes ,it was all peaceful and have heard personally from several of those who were on it, what a great united feeling it gave them all.
The flags are totally unimportant, it is the people who matter!!!!
