Agreed, BlueBelle. This thread is horrible. Difference of opinion is one thing, but the name calling and disrespect of those who don’t buy into the anti-immigrant rhetoric shows those doing it for who they are.

Otherwise we will end up with another airy-fairy government which hasn't a clue how to run a country

14 years of Tory government and their 5 Prime Ministers left us in a mess. These Tory’s now joining Farage to have yet another go with their wrecking ball! No real interest in the country - just an interest in their career. Morals and values that shift like straws in the wind. Farage and Truss sniffing round Trump and his vile view of the world.

The loony left is probably more of a threat than Farage. The UK needs, a centrist government that understands that the workers and businesses pay for the social spending. Starmer started with pretty good policies but his loony MPs won't let him implement them.
Rayner or Milliband will be a disaster as PM and a pretty good opening for Farage at the next GE

I can understand so many people who wish all the worlds population could live together in harmony. However, human nature prevents it happening, so they must face reality. Put aside all this hippie love stuff and accept the fact that there are people out to destroy our country.
At the next election, all the sensible, rational people who didn't vote last time must get out and do so at the next one. Otherwise we will end up with another airy-fairy government which hasn't a clue how to run a country.

Flags don't denote superiority!

Almost every sovereign country in the world has its own flag. It is a recognisable symbol and identifies that country to others.
Countries have national anthems too - would you do away with those?

I believe that some would, especially here in the UK 🇬🇧

Only by those with short memories though Oreo. There have been a lot of historic marches and protests through the ages that have changed the order, and made it into the history books.

But not with the march last Saturday 😄 it was made up of too many groups with different gripes.

You’re right regarding the forthcoming elections Allira. I suspect there will be a big UK political divide emerge as a result. Pulling back from that is going to be tough, whoever is in charge at Westminster.

The results of the forthcoming elections, local and mayoral elections in England, Senedd in Wales and Scottish Parliament will give an indicator.

This march will probably have passed the majority of people by. It could have had much more impact if there had been one unified message but that message seems to have been lost with all the different groups involved with their different banners.

A few days later these marches are forgotten about.Especially one which espouses myriad causes.

I’m not sure that’s a fair generalisation. Several people here have already shared examples of marches they or their families took part in that clearly weren’t “forgotten.” It seems more accurate to say that some marches fade from public attention, while others have lasting impact. Assuming they’re all quickly forgotten feels more like a personal belief than something supported by evidence.
