I cant do...

I wish, just for the fun of it, that at 84 I could tuck my skirt into my knickers and do a handstand up a wall.

There are lots of things I struggle with. I'm sure I could do it if I only did some research first. I couldn't make a pop-up roof for the Campervan we were restoring. I was really pleased with the final result, especially as it didn't leak. I couldn't make my own Christmas crackers. Everyone loved them, especially with their personalised gifts inside. I couldn't knit a baby shawl using circular needles. 9 months later and the baby was snuggled up in it. I couldn't drive an automatic car. Well, I'm still working on that as DH usually drives so I only get to drive it one evening a week when I go line dancing - which I couldn't do.
I suppose it's more a case of giving something a go. If it doesn't work out at least you tried.

I don’t remember a time when I couldn’t swim. Butterfly and back crawl were my best but I wanted to dive as good as I could swim. Our school instructor just couldn’t manage it.
Then the girl next door married a PT/ swimming instructor.
He did it in about 3 sessions.

That’s what I need . My ds swam for a club and tried to teach me, with no success.

67NotOut- haha- i am same with that too- although tbf not anyone in our house can work out the heating either.So we just put it on when we need it then off again when we dont.Its new fangled eco system, in new build house(2 yrs ago)! My daughter has same in hers and even she cant work it out,so i think they do same as us, put it off/on when needed. 😂

And any things i cant do i have chosen not to mostly.Except dancing, i used to love a boogie,sadly my knees/legs now wont let me..(osteoarthritis,so possibly too much boogying!) I would like to master crochet though,but cant.Can knit though,and hand sew beautifully.

My mother used to say (frequently!) "There's no such word as can't. You can if you try".

However, I really cannot stand on the edge of a steep drop. Or climb mountains. It's not as if I haven't tried more than once.
Well, I suppose can't is the wrong word - won't is more appropriate.

I can do all of those (chess, thanks only to our 5 year old grandson, tbf) and as well as winking, get this, cross each eye independently 😁

Actually, I quite often said to my late dad that I could do more things better than most people. He agreed. So did my mum. Sorry.

I can’t work out my central heating system and not even Hive can sort it properly. Frustrating but at least the weather is warmer so I am not using it much.

These clever grans on here who make amazing crafty things make me feel terribly inadequate 😂

There are a lot of things I can‘t do and I don’t care that I can‘t. I do wish I could cook and play the piano - not at the same time obviously.

Holly, I’m glad there’s a posh name for not being good with numbers. My teachers just thought I was dim!!

Just love all these confessions. How does the world manage without us!!?
I am feeling so much better for reading this thread. I can do a lot of things many ops can't but share fellowship with even more of the can't do's. So invigorating to be part of this CLUB!!

Blind pastry very well at all! I had a post about it a few days ago. Thanks for those that offered tips.

I can’t watch surgical operations, horror films or clear up broken glass.
Make meringues. I’m heavy handed and best at main courses.
Count, or anything mathematical (dyscalculia).
Plan things too far ahead.

I’m rubbish at maths due to a horrid maths teacher who’d humiliate you if you asked a question.
I have poor hand to eye coordination and struggle with darts , pool, tennis and other ball sports .
I can’t play an instrument.
Can’t dive although I’m a strong swimmer.
Can’t hang wallpaper but I’m good at painting .
Can’t play chess or speak another language. Apart from school French .
I wonder if the things we can’t do , is because we didn’t get a chance to do them. Either when young or if there wasn’t the money or the opportunity to do things .

I can't do a cartwheel nor do the splits.
I cannot sail a yacht neither can I play the piano, although my 3 sibllings can.
I cannot crochet or do tatting.

I can't run, sing in tune !crochet or hang wallpaper
