Do you get up for something to eat at night?

When Mr York was very ill, our sleeping pattern became erratic. I often found myself serving up jam sponge and custard at 3am.
Luckily we are all back to normal and sleep very well. I do have a small bar of chocolate in my bedside drawer “just in case” 😄

No

No, never. When I get up to go to the loo, usually once a night, I always have a drink of water though.

No, never.

Certainly not. I’m desperate for all the sleep I can get, so whether I wake for a pee or with leg cramp, I want to get back to sleep, not go to the kitchen and end up even more wide awake, and needing to brush my teeth again.

No never. Not something I've ever thought of.

No not at all, I ve never felt I wanted to and although I wake in the night I don’t feel I want to get out and start eating and drinking, that would wake me up even more.( and put weight on me)

Classic comfort food - why not 🙂

Yes, quite often and it’s usually toast with lashings of Lurpak 😂

I have some fresh fruit salad quite often. I think it’s mainly when I’ve gone to bed slightly hungry.

Never, thankfully!

I sleep badly due to bad back and pain etc., so can be awake at 3 or 4 am etc. I keep some water by my bed in case my throat is dry, but dont eat anything or make any hot drinks as I know I can get into the habit. Then if I get a bit better night and am not woken up by pain I would wake up hungry, so vicious circle!

Yes, but I don’t as we sleep in an attic room and I simply cannot be bothered to walk down two flights of stairs then drag myself back up. Also, like others, it would probably play havoc with my digestive system!

Casdon Fri 03-Apr-26 11:03:15

No, never. I might have a glass of water if my throat is sore, but that’s all. I don’t normally eat anything before about 10am, I never want anything when I first wake up, except coffee.

On a rare really bad night I will have toast with honey on and a warm small mug of milk.

henetha Fri 03-Apr-26 11:00:11

Only very rarely, because I am lucky enough to sleep well most nights. But on the rare occasion that I do, it always has to be a cream cracker with butter or marge. Nothing else will do.

Yes, too often!
Anything both easy and tasty. Sometimes I just fancy bread and butter, but it could be a cold sausage and a tomato, or some leftover apple crumble - I’m not fussy.

I’m sure that if I could sleep through the night, as I used to, I’d lose a few of the extra pounds!

No, never.

I was tempted to get up and grab a snack last night, funnily enough, as I was awake for over an hour in the early morning. I didn't, partly as I think it was boredom rather than hunger, partly as I am now reading when I wake up, and also because (a bit like going to the loo) I thought that getting up would wake me up properly and I'd never get back to sleep.

Toasting, not roasting. * predictive text!

Fallingstar Fri 03-Apr-26 10:35:16

I never eat in the night though I feel like having a snack, I get reflux and would never be able to sleep.

fancyflowers Fri 03-Apr-26 10:33:36

I have got into the habit of wanting something to eat during the night. It has to be something ready made such as biscuits, or a bit of pork pie. My sister makes herself toast and jam, but I couldn't be bothered slicing bread and roasting it
