We have been out for dinner, I had prawns for starters and scampi for main course.

Probably have fish 3 out of 4 Fridays 🍤

I'm not remotely religious but we usually have fish on Fridays and on Tuesday's too for supper and sometimes on other days for lunch. Tonight we had a mixed veg and brown rice topped with salmon in a lemon herb sauce. It was very tasty and healthy too.

We’ve just been to our favourite fish restaurant on a harbourside and owned by the trawler family.
Not because it was Goid Friday, but for the freshly caught fish and seafood.

Always eat fish on Fridays... Just do not religious or anything, same as Curry or Chinese on Thursday. Rest of the week pot luck.

No, we're having homemade toad-in-the-hole.

We don't specifically choose fish on Fridays. If we happen to have it, it's just a coincidence that it's on a Friday. In fact, most Fridays we have some sort of meat. As it happens, I did actually have salmon and mayo on toast for lunch, but again, only because I fancied it, not because it's Friday.

As for the OP, does hubby usually have any input regarding what meals are eaten, and when? I may well be wrong but it sounds to me like hubby basically gets what he's given. Like it or lump it sort of thing, in which case, I guess he should accept what is prepared for him.

I do all our cooking but always ask my wife what she wants to eat. I would never just present her with something I have made.

Don’t eat fish or meat so some veggie noodle stir fry today

Btw your supper sounds delicious flowers

Does prawn cocktail count?

I’d eat fish more often if MrJ liked it other than in batter Greyduster!
He’s from a Catholic family, but non practising, so we don’t stick to fish Friday, tonight we’ve got cottage pie, cauliflower and carrots.

Not religious at all. I’m a Humanist.

But I usually (unless invited out) have fish & chips from the chippy round the corner every Friday night. The queue was out of the door tonight being GF. £7:50 and delicious as always!

Good RC upbringing, but while we never had meat on Friday we did not necessarily have meat. M mother uite often served a cheese or egg based meal.

Yep Friday fish n chips just because we love them any excuse!

Just eaten my lovely chippie fish n chips. It's always fish Friday in this house.

Norah Fri 03-Apr-26 18:15:17

Yes, we always have fish on Friday for guests.

Holy week, I'd think Good Friday is fish day for those who eat fish?

Greyduster Fri 03-Apr-26 18:08:43

I’m having fish cakes and salad tonight, but to be honest, most days are fish days here. I just love it.

crazyH Fri 03-Apr-26 18:06:27

Definitely - fish Fridays, especially Good Friday. I too was brought up a Catholic, and try to maintain the tradition.
My mother usually fasts on GF. I don’t . I forgot to take out fish from the freezer, so today, I’m just having Rotis and a Veg curry.

Witzend Fri 03-Apr-26 18:06:21

I made a fish pie last night! TBH it wouldn’t even occur to dh to think we should be having fish tonight. In fact we’ll be having readymade spinach and ricotta tortellini, but with homemade tomato sauce, and salad.

My family always had fish on a Friday. We are travelling home from our daughters house and have just stopped for our meal at a fish and chip restaurant.Very nice too!

merlotgran Fri 03-Apr-26 17:58:51

I’m not RC but was brought up in a churchgoing CofE family and we always had fish on Good Friday.
Tonight I’m cooking Fish Pie for DD and DSiL as they’ve been helping me with some decorating. He’s RC (sort of lapsed) and always talks of Fishy Friday as though the sky would fall in if we ate meat.

DD and I reckon it’s because he’s scared of his mum! 🐟🐠😂

Mel1967 Fri 03-Apr-26 17:57:44

We are, but only because it was in the freezer & needed to be used 🐟🍟

PamelaJ1 Fri 03-Apr-26 17:55:27

We are having salmon. I think lamb is acceptable too isn’t it?

Sago Fri 03-Apr-26 17:48:55

Having been brought up as RC meat was never eaten on Friday and certainly not on Good Friday.

We have our son and DIL staying for Easter, I have made a vegetarian lasagne and salads for supper, some smoked trout on homemade bread beforehand and a cheeseboard (which sadly I can no longer eat)

My husband is gutted!
Honestly you would think it was the end of the world, he is so disappointed not to be having fish and chips from the “chippy”

He keeps asking if the lasagne could be frozen or if it could be eaten on another day……I’m close to giving in but have just made the salads and dressing as a commitment!

Are you having fish tonight?
