Prawn cocktail, a traditional mixed grill, and jam roly poly with custard, all washed down with sweet prosecco

If they were tiny portions I would go for goats cheese soufflé, baked halibut and green veg, and crème brule all washed down with a dry white. Now I’m hungry.

I’ve never had, or wanted, a three course meal. When we eat out it’s usually pub grub and after a main course none of us even want pudding.

Providing I had a big appetite and limitless resources -

It would be -

A chilled prawn ,crab and lobster salad

Roast lamb

An Italian style fresh fruit salad

With champagne .

dragonfly46 Mon 06-Apr-26 21:13:07

If I had to!

Garlic prawns
Crab salad
Gooseberry crumble

Usedtobeblonde Mon 06-Apr-26 21:10:31

Another one courser here but…
Calamari with a mayo dip
Roast leg of lamb, dauphinois potatoes and veg
Crème brûlée with raspberries.

Casdon Mon 06-Apr-26 20:42:55

I don’t want a full on starter, so I’d go for a dry martini with olives first
Spaghetti all'aragosta
Lemon posset (but I’d be happy with any other lemon dessert too)

Georgesgran Mon 06-Apr-26 20:41:31

Old fashioned prawn cocktail with brown bread and butter.
Lobster - any style, as long as I don’t see it alive/have to select it!!
Crème brûlée (but only from a now closed restaurant).

I’d struggle to eat it all, but I’d give it my best shot!

Redrobin51 Mon 06-Apr-26 20:40:49

I can only manage 2 courses, not keen on starters.
The main would be roast lamb, Yorkshire, seasonal veggie, good thick tasty gravy with lashings of mint sauce.
If summer dessert would be lemon meringue pie with a scoop of best vanilla ice cream or in winter a nice crumble not made with oats and custard.

Coronation chicken terrine

Belly pork with apple sauce, roast potatoes and veg

Home made ice cream (or almost anything from the pudding menu).

Jaxjacky Mon 06-Apr-26 20:32:30

No starter, I’d be too full.
Sole Meunière, chunky chips with a dressed green salad.
Crème brûlée.

I haven't had dinner yet. You are all making me hungry.grin

Deep fried mushrooms
Vegetable moussaka
Pineapple upside down cake Yum!

AskAlice Mon 06-Apr-26 18:47:57

I don't eat desserts, just don't have a sweet tooth so it would be starters and mains for me too.

Anything seafood for starter - calamari, prawns, mussells, razor clams.

Something cooked with cheese for main course as DH won't eat cooked cheese, so maybe hunter chicken topped or stuffed with cheese, cheese-topped lasagne, fish pie topped with cheese (you get the idea!)

rafichagran Mon 06-Apr-26 18:46:39

Deep fried mushrooms starter with a dip.
Medium rare steak, chips, tomato, and mushrooms.
Coffee mouse
Glass of white wine

Tenko Mon 06-Apr-26 18:42:30

I’m another who couldn’t do three courses. I don’t have a sweet tooth , so I’m happy with a starter and a main .
I couldn’t choose a favourite. It’s depends on my mood, where I am and what time of day .

NotSpaghetti Mon 06-Apr-26 18:37:31

I suppose it depends on the day, my mood, the weather...
I love too many things to just choose three!

Greyduster Mon 06-Apr-26 18:34:13

I’m another who can’t manage three courses these days but if I could, it would be

moules mariniere;
A good fish pie;
Pineapple upside down cake and clotted cream.

hollysteers Mon 06-Apr-26 18:29:08

Fruit de Mer/Egg mayonnaise
Beef Wellington
Warm meringue with morello cherries and sauce.

I’m a one courser these days though…

Desdemona Mon 06-Apr-26 18:20:01

I couldn't eat 3 courses in one go any more, but could manage it with enough gaps in between!

Mine would probably be:

Prawn and Avocado salad with lots of brown bread and proper butter.

Vegetable Moussaka with a Greek salad and a handful of chips.

A good thick cheesecake, preferably a fruity one.

Fallingstar Mon 06-Apr-26 18:18:27

I never like a starter so avoid a set menu.

crazyH Mon 06-Apr-26 18:13:15

Prawn/avocado salad
Roast pork, mash potato and swede, Runner Beans, Carrots ,Spinach and gravy
Icecream

kittylester Mon 06-Apr-26 18:12:52

dragonfly46 Mon 06-Apr-26 18:09:10

I can’t manage three courses any more.

valdavi Mon 06-Apr-26 18:08:04

Fried whitebait or sardines

Chicken jalfrezi with all trimmings

Rhubarb crumble & clotted cream

(realise they don't complement each other)

Magenta8 Mon 06-Apr-26 17:57:25

Mine is:-

Leek and potato soup

Spinach pancakes in cheese sauce with ratatouille

Coffee mousse with tuile biscuits

(Cheese board optional)

Washed down with vegan Reisling
