Oh no! I dont think I can choose. I feel like different things on different days.

I can’t choose either😄 all the options listed sound good.

Mine would be Lobster and caviar, followed by Turbot with seasonal vegetables and for desert either Floating Islands, Lavender Posset or Eton Mess, with Champagne (if money were no object)

polly123 Wed 08-Apr-26 12:44:41

Prawn and avocado salad.

Fillet steak (medium) with green pepper sauce, potato dauphinois and seasonal veg. (not overcooked)

Apricot crumble and vanilla sauce.

Glass of Nero d'avola.

Ah, Eton Mess or Summer Pudding, lovely.

Ladyleftfieldlover Wed 08-Apr-26 11:53:47

Eton Mess…

Ladyleftfieldlover Wed 08-Apr-26 11:52:29

I forgot about Elton Mess! A restaurant near us used to do the best. Just strawberries and raspberry purée - no blueberries or other unwanted fruit. Lashings of cream of course.

Ladyleftfieldlover Wed 08-Apr-26 11:45:05

Prawn cocktail with thinly sliced brown bread and butter

6oz fillet, medium
Black pepper sauce
Half a dozen chips
Mushrooms
Salad

A slice of lemon tart with a scoop of raspberry sorbet

All washed down with fizz (Prosecco/cava/champagne)

Americano with cold milk

Susie42 Wed 08-Apr-26 11:36:06

1/2 dozen Whitstable oysters washed down with a glass of Chablis
Ducjk confit, french fries, and green beans
Creme brulee

Yay! Menopausalbitch.... (I'm sure you are not a bitch) smile.

I don't eat out much these days, it's so expensive now, but sometimes do have just a starter and a pudding. The pudding is the best bit! And I like your idea of two starters!

Michael12 Wed 08-Apr-26 11:24:02

Starter soup L`ouf raw egg soup
Main Steak Tartare raw minced beef no fat done with various spicy sauces etc on toast
sweet a gateau slice

The most amazing taste I ever experienced was freshly smoked eels. But I was informed by the Dutchman smoking them that they had to be smoked over oak shavings.
Another one is oysters ( harvested by us) in a tempura batter.
Another is Octopus stew.
I know 😂 not to everyone’s taste.

3 courses would be impossible now, but if I could...

Something fishy, probably a really good prawn cocktail.
Then, absolutely a roast main. Lamb with mint sauce, and perfect roast potatoes, sprouts or cabbage, and garden peas.

Then Eton Mess, or Sherry trifle.

Sounds nice, I sometimes have two staters so I can have a pudding lol

So pate, steak and ice cream. That’s home food as well lol

If I had to!

Garlic prawns
Crab salad
Gooseberry crumble

Oh yes.

Menopauselbitch Wed 08-Apr-26 11:02:53

Some sort of fresh crab starter, followed by a Vongola and then a normal Panacotta not made from a mix ( most restaurants use mixes) and not messed about with.

For a Fine Dining Indian Restaurant

Starters: Onion Bhajis with Pappadoms.

Main: Chicken Biryani with Garlic Nan.

All with some type of chutney tray.

Washed down with a bottle of cider.

nanna8 Wed 08-Apr-26 09:48:48

Fresh oysters with lemon slices
A very small fillet steak medium rare with a few crisp roast potatoes, pepper sauce and broccoli, maybe some mushroom or carrots
Crème brûlée
Had that meal recently on holiday, yum. I also like lobster so long as it is cooked well and not dry. With a cheesy light sauce.

Umm. Nothing to excite me in many of the choices listed here. All seems ordinary stay-at-home weekday suppers.

Horses for courses, I guess!

Mine .....

Smooth Liver Parfait with Rum
- with toasted Ciabatta and Spiced Pear relish

Rare Ribeye Steak with Bernaise Sauce, Jacket Potato and Mixed Salad

Fresh Coconut Ice-Cream with Clotted Cream.

..... and I know just where I can get it and we'll be going there on Thursday!!!! Fortnightly treat.
.

Not sure what makes that meal special. I could do that at home too.

Most of us would be capable of doing most of the things listed at home. And, the OP didn't specify a location.

Very difficult to choose so can I choose 2?

Prawn cocktail, Roast Beef & Yorkshire Pud etc, Creme Brulee

Onion Bhaji, Chicken Tikka Dhansak, Mango Kulfi

Although I rarely have three courses nowadays.

lixy Tue 07-Apr-26 21:38:52

Three courses?
Crusty bread with balsamic vinegar and olive oil please,

Mushroom quiche with a green salad

Chocolate something - usually a brownie - with ice cream
and a really good cup of coffee.

(Though my favourite meal ‘out’ is a Buddha bowl, but certainly not a starter or pod with that.)
