I, too, love my home.
It's nothing fancy, but it's ideally situated for us - near the town centre, surgery, shops, restaurants and transport. We moved here when the children were small but old enough to be wanting to go further afield, and having everything in walking distance helped. Now they've gone, having things handy for us is reassuring as we get older.
I worked through the house a couple of years ago to get it ready for retirement (new kitchen, bathroom and general decor update), and although there are still a couple of things on the 'get round to it one day' list, I am happy that it's reasonably future-proof. On paper it is too big for two, but we use all the rooms, so I can't see the point in downsizing. Unless we moved out of the area for some reason I would have to sacrifice convenience (bungalows in this town are on peripheral estates rather than in the town centre), and this is not the right stage of life to do that. If necessary I would get a stair lift fitted.
