Over the last few months, a neighbourhood cat seems to be aware of my comings and goings. He's groomed and looks well fed, so he's not after food. I don't think our relationship is based on cupboard love?

He sits there and opens his mouth but it's not a typical meow noise he makes. It's more like a squawk.

Me, going to my car on the drive: Notice cat.

"Oh, good morning darling. Aren't you a handsome fellow? "

Squawk

'You are lovely, aren't you?'

Squawk

I go over and stroke him. He doesn't run away. He head-butts my legs and purrs.

Squawk

"Well, I've got to go shopping, but it's been so lovely chatting with you."

Squawk, squawk.

He turns and saunters off, tail in the air. That will do for today.
This scenario happens so frequently, I'm sure he visits just for the ego trip. He always squawks at me when he's in position, waiting for his fan club to admire him. grin

Gracey, there's a cat who visits at meal times, he comes into the kitchen and says Hello, when I ask If he's wanting breakfast he says Yeah, after he has eaten I say gimmy a kiss, he stands on his hind legs and head butts my face.

I have a blackbird in my garden who spends most of the day shouting ‘Billy no mates’.

The geese at the local lake would be regarded as antisocial if they were human teenagers - the bad-tempered racket they make!

Judging by the pigeons on my back wall:

I love you.
No!
Pretty please.
No! Go away.
Just one more time.
Get lost….
Come back…..
…….
I’m coming after you……

My pigeons have those conversations too..

As soon as dawn breaks, the collared doves on our roof start chatting to each other. I'm convinced that they are saying "I love you, I do." They carry on like this for hours.

The H of a friend of mine didn’t like one of her friends.
He insisted that pigeons were saying J… is a stupid woman, J… is a stupid woman…
When you listened it did sound like that.
Unkind but his opinion.

That's so funny but true - I speak back to them in their language - I know, I'm a bit off the wall! Or perch!

I remember someone on here posted that two doves sitting together and one said ‘My toe hurts Betty ‘.
I always think of that and smile when I hear pigeons, or doves.

Arrived home from work yesterday just after 4 and standing at the door listening to the hilarious conversations of 2 birds!

We all know how very human-sounding their voices are at times! Funny little squeaky voices as if they've been on helium!

One - Where've you been?
Two - I'm here!

One - No, you're not!
Two - Yes, I am!
One - You're a birdie! HA HA HA!

Two - Where's Bill?
One - On the farm!
Two - Are you sure? HA HA HA!

I had tears streaming down my face, doubled over with laughter!
