Good morning from a sunny St Albans. I’ve been awake since 6am but always come back to bed with a cappuccino. I’m looking at the terraced houses opposite and how the sun is making the burnt orange bricks glow.
I a very people day yesterday which was lovely but am just going to potter today. And go out and buy a pole thingy from Wilko’s which you can stick in the ground to hang bird feeders off. I have a tiny garden but there’s a corner at the back and I do hope they’ll come. I live in the town centre but this morning the bird song filled the air. It’s such a busy time for them 🐦‍⬛

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s cloudy but feels mild
A very Happy Birthday to the birthday boys Bellas! Enjoy the party later 🎂 🎈 🎁
Pleased you’ve got some support from your DS and friends Roses
We’re going out first thing for a bit of shopping and will probably call into the garden centre on the way home for a coffee. After that I’m hoping to get some gardening done, fingers crossed it stays dry.
GG and Redcar a difficult day for you both 💐
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Good morning all from a cloudy Glasgow. It is 7°, a huge difference from Malta. We also have rain predicted.

Yesterday started well, we set off for Helensburgh reasonably early, much to DH's surprise.
I had secretly wanted to visit Lomond Shores on the way, but thought that might be pushing things.
Just as we were approaching it, DH asked if I wanted a quick visit.
We laughed as we approached the roundabout, DH asked, Left or right? Left was the outlet, right was one of the many hospitals, I visit.

I had no idea, how to work the newly installed parking ticket machines. There was much hilarity, when a young foreign couple tried to help me.
I couldn't remember DH's reg, but young lady could see it and was dictating it to me.
I said, I was buying nothing, it would only be a quick visit. It was not and DH got lots of tshirts etc.
Also, he bought me a beautiful bag for my birthday next month. ♥️

Helensburgh was very quiet and we had a stroll before eating a delicious tapas lunch.
There was also free entertainment, Six elderly people arrived separately, appearing not to be acquainted,
They caused the staff so much trouble, agonising over their choices of food and drink and kept changing their mind.
After sharing bottles of wine and tapas, they asked the manager to give them all individual bills.
He said it was not possible, due to all the combinations they had and the fact that they had shared items.

That manager deserved a medal for his patience. They then suggested that the manager wrote it down on paper and worked out their separare bills.
The oddest thing was, they didn't seem to actually know each other. However, one woman took charge and continued to give them the benefit of her knowledge of Spanish food. She hadn't a clue!
She then asked for a glass of that red drink, with fruit in it. (sangria). However, she wanted a white sangria. The manager duly obliged through gritted teeth.

Afterwards, we planned to go for a stroll, but we were in a charity shop, when I saw DH hanging on to a bin of cushions. I thought this was strange. Then I realised, he looked as if he was going to faint. I got such a fright, as he is never ill.
No shopping for us, it was straight home.

On arriving home, I took his BP, thinking it would be low. It was sky high and getting higher. 😱 He should have been dead, according to the readings!
The new monitor is coming today.
He says he is fine, but has promised to see the doctor tomorrow, if the new readings are high. I don't think he is fine.

We have Babydoll arriving in a few minutes, so must dash.

Have a pleasant day.
Roses has been constantly on my mind..♥️

Good morning Mick and everyone from gloomy but as yet dry Carlisle.
Yesterday entailed a few cleaning jobs in the bathrooms and kitchen plus I put a load of towels through the washer followed by my white summer t-shirts. Everything dried in the sun by teatime.
I did nothing in the afternoon except read and do some admin as I felt a bit wobbly, probably fighting off a threatening infection. I usually do. It's stuff like digging holes in the garden that upsets things but I will not be beaten!

Today there is a pile of ironing but I may pop out for a stroll first as I suspect rain is imminent. Then the day will unfold as it will, I may check through some more kitchen cupboards, it's too easy to forget what you have, some of it quite unnecessary now.
Thank you for your words Marydoll, I'm hoping I don't have to take anything else but maybe needs must. I have been taking calcium and vitamin D supplements for a while and now have some hand weights. Studying my biceps this morning, I was not impressed! Must up my game...

Happy birthday to those boys Bella, they sound like really lovely lads.

Hoping your DH is OK Marydoll

Good morning, another pleasant start to the day here in N.Bucks.
Yesterday’s weather was beautiful. My friend and I sat outside and chatted over lunch for more than 3 hours.
Today we have our youngest DGS. I have a manicure and pedicure appointment so DH will take him down to the local rec. buying a new football on the way, to replace the one which burst last week.
He wants to water the garden for us later and do some crafting. So, that’s our day organised!
This evening I am going to a choir for the first time. GagagranThe one in our town led by the same MD had to close for the same problem as yours is having. It’s a bit of a pain as there is now a half hour drive to get to practices instead of a 10 minute walk. I shall share driving with a couple of others who are transferring too.
Also need to put finishing touches to the packing for our holiday. We are off tomorrow.
Wishing all a good day especially out poorly and troubled friends.

Good morning from sunny Suffolk. We are awaiting the arrival of a local roofer to give us an estimate for replacing a cowl on 1 chimney pot and putting one on a chimney that, for some reason, has never had one. Scaffolding will be needed and that will probably take longer to erect and cost more than the actual job itself.

I have my stretch class this morning and the nothing else planned as yet. Hopefully I’ll be able to sit in the summerhouse and read.

I haven’t read your posts yet but hope they talk of enjoyable activities yesterday and similar things planned for today.

Morning from S Hants, dry and 10. Yesterday was perfect weather for me, we went for a river walk and met up with absent friends early evening for a drink. The gardener came, weeded and tidied, she does a good job.
Today out for a coffee and I must email my surgeon, a couple of things I need guidance with.
Happy birthday to the boys Bellas.
I’m very pleased you have some support now Roses.
Redcar 💐

Good morning from a sunny day on the Essex coast.
Yesterday was very stressful. DH had to have emergency surgery on his eye to reposition the graft he had last week.
I picked him up about 7 last night. He's very uncomfortable this morning but hopefully it will now heal and he will be able to see.
No plans today apart from club admin .
Wishing you all a peaceful day xx

WhiteSwan63 Thu 09-Apr-26 08:11:07

Hello and good morning LaCrepescule
You certainly live in a beautiful town. 👋🌺

Gingster Thu 09-Apr-26 08:16:48

Good morning all and the beautiful weather continues.

DH’s procedure went well and the hospital was a pleasure . It’s a primary health care place. Newish, clean and efficient. Cab driver waited for us outside in the sunshine. He’s a good chap.

DH is very sore now so I must go out soon and get stronger pain killers. Also walk into town to make an appointment at the gp’s for stitch removal on the 22nd.

We need a bit of food shopping too. DIL asked if I’d like to go with her but I don’t need much and the local shops will suffice.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOUR CHEEKY CHAPS Bellasnanna.
Those 4 years have sped by.🥳.

Roses I’m glad you have support from friends and family.🌺.

Take care all ☀️

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Summer was yesterday 😞

I'm expecting the last of the pots made by the 3rd agers to be collected this morning and then it's yoga.

I managed with a lot of help from a passing friend to rip apart a sprung mattress and a foam one and take them in bags to the local recycling centre in my new car.
The council charge £70 per uplift so I saved quite a bit.

Like you Madeleine, I have had bank troubles this week.
For me it was trying to re-establish mobile banking since my WiFi provider has changed.
I tried online but was so frustrated, I asked the chat bot if I could speak to a human!

You can speak to my human colleague. Hooray! She guided me through 4 passwords until I could see my own account.

I am glad Roses that you are getting support.

Happy birthday to the twins Bella

Have a pleasant day everyone.

I’m late on parade after 10 hours of sleep following yesterday’s deep body massage!

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s cooler today. Dry at present but showers are forecast and only 13°C expected.

I’m still enjoying my TiB but will be setting off to the jewellers mid morning. (Where I sold my gold bits and bobs). Himself’s wedding ring has been sized to fit on my right hand, my eternity ring mended and my favourite fan bracelet given to me by my darling mum just before she died has been altered with the fastening easier for me to do now I’m on my own. See pic of the bracelet I think it’s lovely.

Then this evening friends (who are neighbours in Málaga which is where we originally met) are coming over from Bolton. We last saw them in March last year when Himself was well and able to drive. It all seems a lifetime ago now. So much water under the bridge but I am really looking forward to seeing them and we shall meet in the pub at 5pm then go for a curry. They love the buzz of Urmston with all the choices of venue!

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Thu 09-Apr-26 09:14:04

Forgot the pic I need to wake up….

BlueSapphire Thu 09-Apr-26 09:29:09

A later good morning from a cloudy, but warm, Northampton. Slept in quite late today, but I shall need to get my skates on as Sainsbury's is delivering shortly.

Yesterday was lovely; two loads of washing washed and dried on the line, bed remade. After lunch the dentist for a check-up, all clear there and an appointment made for 6 months.

Sat in the garden when I got home, and the cats came out with me - they are house cats and don't go out on their own; they were very happy, did a garden inspection, ate lots of grass and then just sat in the sun for an hour. I managed to read a fair bit of my book on Kindle.

Not much planned for today: a Sainsbury's delivery, then may cut the grass this afternoon. Things need doing indoors, but I'd rather be outside when it's fine... #lazygran..

Wishing all a pleasant day.

GG13 we too have a newly opened White Company store in the Trafford Centre I took this photo when I was in last week. It’s spacious and I was sorely tempted but resisted buying anything. I need to get a better handle on my (new to me) finances before I buy stuff just yet.

Good Morning from a dull Co Armagh, when I started reading this thread the sun was at full strength!
I’m glad you have support Roses 💐
Marydoll , I hope your OH is ok , you will have a job getting him to look after himself !

I confess to having a White Company addiction, unfortunately DS4 has inherited it also 😹😹😹

I love their large candles, always have the winter one and the Christmas smelling one, I need (ok I don’t need but want) one of the summer scented ones.

My wardrobes are an advert to their marketing skills 🙀🙀🙀

Marydoll Thu 09-Apr-26 10:19:39

We have Whte Company store here.
I go in, just to smell the room fragrances.

Loch Lomond yesterday.

Marydoll Thu 09-Apr-26 10:21:31

And another one...

It was beautiful.

Silvershadow Thu 09-Apr-26 10:29:27

For ladies who like The White Company, you might like to know they often have clearance events across the UK at racecourses, via the Jockey Club. Huge huge reductions. I’ve been several times with my daughter to the one at Esher and it’s like a giant upmarket jumble sale! Alternatively the outlet stores are good at Bicester, Gunwharf Quays in Portsmouth, or the one at Gloucester which I’ve not been to.

I think they are expanding because our nearest large town also has a store opening in May!

Ilovedogs22 Thu 09-Apr-26 11:02:20

Good morning all from the west midlands. A relatively quiet day here today, thank goodness. DH is out shopping, flirting with all & sundry! Whilst myself & dogface are very busy doing nothing, quite honestly. Apart from wondering if we can slip in elevenses before lunch.
Wishing everyone the the best day possible. 🌞

Usedtobeblonde Thu 09-Apr-26 11:42:32

A late Good morning from me again.
I still don’t feel on top of things so I determined to do some necessary jobs before switching on my IPad.
Not so warm today , in fact yesterday was hot but I sat in all day reading and resting.
I have showered and washed my hair so far as well as sorting a rather large laundry load.
I see some of you are still enjoying the Easter break away or with family and friends so I hope you continue to enjoy.
Roses my thoughts are with you as you face your journey.

Georgesgran Thu 09-Apr-26 11:45:50

Such a late good morning from Durham. Heavily clouded, but not too cool. Week 3 of this virus and I’m bl**dy well sick of it.
Really just wanted to say I’m pleased you’ve confided in those you trust Roses. As for Macmillan?? Marmite as far as I’m concerned, but others have a different opinion.
Hope your DH is ok MD, at least he’s agreed to be checked out.

Best wishes to all. X
