Good morning Mick and everyone from gloomy but as yet dry Carlisle.
Yesterday entailed a few cleaning jobs in the bathrooms and kitchen plus I put a load of towels through the washer followed by my white summer t-shirts. Everything dried in the sun by teatime.
I did nothing in the afternoon except read and do some admin as I felt a bit wobbly, probably fighting off a threatening infection. I usually do. It's stuff like digging holes in the garden that upsets things but I will not be beaten!

Today there is a pile of ironing but I may pop out for a stroll first as I suspect rain is imminent. Then the day will unfold as it will, I may check through some more kitchen cupboards, it's too easy to forget what you have, some of it quite unnecessary now.
Thank you for your words Marydoll, I'm hoping I don't have to take anything else but maybe needs must. I have been taking calcium and vitamin D supplements for a while and now have some hand weights. Studying my biceps this morning, I was not impressed! Must up my game...

Happy birthday to those boys Bella, they sound like really lovely lads.

Good morning all from a cloudy Glasgow. It is 7°, a huge difference from Malta. We also have rain predicted.

Yesterday started well, we set off for Helensburgh reasonably early, much to DH's surprise.
I had secretly wanted to visit Lomond Shores on the way, but thought that might be pushing things.
Just as we were approaching it, DH asked if I wanted a quick visit.
We laughed as we approached the roundabout, DH asked, Left or right? Left was the outlet, right was one of the many hospitals, I visit.

I had no idea, how to work the newly installed parking ticket machines. There was much hilarity, when a young foreign couple tried to help me.
I couldn't remember DH's reg, but young lady could see it and was dictating it to me.
I said, I was buying nothing, it would only be a quick visit. It was not and DH got lots of tshirts etc.
Also, he bought me a beautiful bag for my birthday next month. ♥️

Helensburgh was very quiet and we had a stroll before eating a delicious tapas lunch.
There was also free entertainment, Six elderly people arrived separately, appearing not to be acquainted,
They caused the staff so much trouble, agonising over their choices of food and drink and kept changing their mind.
After sharing bottles of wine and tapas, they asked the manager to give them all individual bills.
He said it was not possible, due to all the combinations they had and the fact that they had shared items.

That manager deserved a medal for his patience. They then suggested that the manager wrote it down on paper and worked out their separare bills.
The oddest thing was, they didn't seem to actually know each other. However, one woman took charge and continued to give them the benefit of her knowledge of Spanish food. She hadn't a clue!
She then asked for a glass of that red drink, with fruit in it. (sangria). However, she wanted a white sangria. The manager duly obliged through gritted teeth.

Afterwards, we planned to go for a stroll, but we were in a charity shop, when I saw DH hanging on to a bin of cushions. I thought this was strange. Then I realised, he looked as if he was going to faint. I got such a fright, as he is never ill.
No shopping for us, it was straight home.

On arriving home, I took his BP, thinking it would be low. It was sky high and getting higher. 😱 He should have been dead, according to the readings!
The new monitor is coming today.
He says he is fine, but has promised to see the doctor tomorrow, if the new readings are high. I don't think he is fine.

We have Babydoll arriving in a few minutes, so must dash.

Have a pleasant day.
Roses has been constantly on my mind..♥️

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s cloudy but feels mild
A very Happy Birthday to the birthday boys Bellas! Enjoy the party later 🎂 🎈 🎁
Pleased you’ve got some support from your DS and friends Roses
We’re going out first thing for a bit of shopping and will probably call into the garden centre on the way home for a coffee. After that I’m hoping to get some gardening done, fingers crossed it stays dry.
GG and Redcar a difficult day for you both 💐
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Good morning from a sunny St Albans. I’ve been awake since 6am but always come back to bed with a cappuccino. I’m looking at the terraced houses opposite and how the sun is making the burnt orange bricks glow.
I a very people day yesterday which was lovely but am just going to potter today. And go out and buy a pole thingy from Wilko’s which you can stick in the ground to hang bird feeders off. I have a tiny garden but there’s a corner at the back and I do hope they’ll come. I live in the town centre but this morning the bird song filled the air. It’s such a busy time for them 🐦‍⬛

Good morning from a sunny W Kent. A beautiful day here yesterday and visit to local garden was greatly enjoyed. Today I am off in search of new bras. I always get measured now but never seem to comfortable since my shoulder replacement.
Happy birthday to the twins Bella
Best wishes to all

Good morning from a dull northwest coast. I had a quiet day yesterday after a disturbed night and I am off soon on a day coach trip to Matlock Bath. Last time I went I took the cable car up to Abraham Heights, but this time just into the town. So sandwiches and coffee ready for the trip.

Thinking of you Roses at the difficult time and thoughts to all🌺

Good morning from Sheffield

I have 2 DGSs for the day as it’s school holidays. I’m not sure what I will do with them. I’m still not feeling right.
They have been very busy with their mum this week, various outings and play dates so I may just be quiet at home with them today. Although I’m not sure how quiet 9 and 6 year old boys can be.
Just their dad coming for tea as my other son and family are on holiday this week.

The show last night was very good, we enjoyed it thoroughly

Take care everyone flowers

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. I think it’s going to be cooler today.

I felt a bit under the weather yesterday. I rallied by the evening and went to the Local History Society meeting which was just a five minute walk. The talk was on the development of maps and was actually quite interesting. OH stayed home and watched Liverpool lose.

Today we will go to the nearby NT property. The trip will end with a Cream Tea.

I think I’m listening to a V&A talk tonight, although I haven’t received the link yet.

Have a good day. I hope those twin boys have a lovely birthday. Somewhere I have a video of my (now 41) younger son’s 4th birthday party!

Good morning all from a brighter Torbay than was forecast.

As elsewhere, we had a day of sunshine yesterday for several hours. DH reached home safely and within 12 hours of leaving here, having been on a few trains, including the Tube, Eurostar and the Métro, with a taxi for the final leg from Le Mans station to his home in the country.

At Wednesday Club, we enjoyed an interesting talk about Hans Christian Anderson, presented by one of our members. The writer was from very humble origins and, like many artists, was a rather tortured soul.

I hope today is kind to you all. 🦩💐🦩🥰🦩

WhiteSwan63 Thu 09-Apr-26 07:13:55

Good morning from the east coast and another mild day is forecast.

DGS had a lovely morning with me yesterday he was so good. I realised he needs to complete the routine from start to finish before he can relax. That is two parks and toast and jam at ours, the shop where he bought one lemon and one lime and two books exactly the same. I cut the fruit, he blended it then he decants it into matching cups and then it goes down the sink. Then I scrape it out and put it in the food bin and the routine is done. He was then able to truly relax and enjoy the garden. DSs partner then picked him up and off they went to do their routine. The joys of Neurodivercity.

This morning we are getting the train to London for three nights with DHs cousin and his wife. It should be fun they are great company. Tonight we are doing a dinner cruise on the Thames. My sister and brother in law are joining us all tomorrow. We are staying near Liverpool Street so lots to do around there.

Wishing your two lovely GSs a happy 4th birthday Bellas
Thoughts to those suffering illness and stress.
Have a lovely day if you can with moments of joy. 🌼

Roses, I'm glad you have some support.

Good morning, a bright start here on my hillside in south Glos. Yesterday was very warm, I did sit outside for five minutes but it was too warm for me so tiddler and I retreated to my Shed where I did some embroidery while listening to a crime podcast.
The birds were very noisy in the woods behind us, I don’t know what the little brown jobs were or what they were doing but it was lovely listening to their chatter.
I tried getting DH to listen to my fears, he’s a total ostrich when it comes to health matters, and gave up. I have confided in my best friend who is being very supportive and both DCs are aware - DS is being very helpful and will take me to any appointment if I wish ( he’s 100+ miles away so I have asked if maybe he comes with me to the first oncology appointment when it happens 😬)
On more cheerful matters I am sleeping well! I am enjoying a crewel embroidery I started yesterday evening, a first time for me and I have some M&S salads coming in my Ocado shop today to try and tempt me. My appetite is poor but not surprising really!
Let’s hope today goes well x

Good morning all from a bright North Leicestershire. It is currently 10°

We have an exciting time ahead today- indoor crazy gold with DGS4 and 5. It has become a bit of a tradition for each holiday. Sainsbury's delivery later.

Have the best day possible everyone.

monk08 Thu 09-Apr-26 06:59:56

Good morning all from the Black country bit cloudy at the moment so don't think it will as hot as yesterday.
DS is dropping the boys off on his way to work so I think a trip to the park will be in today's plans, he will pick them up on his way home.
We are then going over the club this evening to meet friends.
Happy birthday to the twins Bellas 🎂🎉 and best wishes to anyone else celebrating.
Have the best day you can everyone whatever your plans and may you all find a little bit of ☀️.

Gagagran Thu 09-Apr-26 06:59:42

Good Morning all from another lovely start to the day from the central south coast.

I have a hair appointment at 9am and it's WI this afternoon so, unusually for me, an action packed day ahead. Hope my energy levels don't run out before the day does!

Choir last night was missing quite a few members again and it is now 9 weeks until the concert. It is obvious that some of the planned programme will have to be cut as we are struggling with the most complex piece and haven't even started some of the others. I went to bed weary and a bit disheartened.

However, a nice surprise awaited me when I came down this morning to find that, after I had gone to bed, DH finished watching the football then assembled my new variable height dining chair. It is perfect for our rather tall dining table and will be much easier for me. I had thought he would do it today after being tired from his exertions cycling 60 miles yesterday. He can sometimes be a real treasure!

Happy birthday to your lovely boys Bellas! I reckon they are worth missing the tennis for their party!

Hope the day is kind to us all, especially our strugglers and those coping with sadness and health problems. sunshine

NannyJan53 Thu 09-Apr-26 06:58:57

Good morning from a bright Black Country.

Such a hot sunny day yesterday, anyone would think it was July. Popped into town in the morning, then afternoon was spent cutting grass and weeding. Then a meal with 8 of us ladies from the Thursday Walk and Chat group.

The other walking group walk today, so will be leaving at 9 to give a friend a lift (we take it in turns).

Wishing you all the best day possible.

Redcar Thu 09-Apr-26 06:56:32

Good morning everyone from mid Essex, where it’s a bright start to the day. A day of sunny spells and clouds is forecast. Yesterday was a lovely day, sunny and warm enough to sit in the garden with an ice cream! Chair yoga yesterday morning was challenging as usual.
A emotional day ahead for me as it’s my sister in law’s funeral today. A Requiem Mass, followed by a short service at the crematorium then a wake afterwards. DD2 will collect me when she’s delivered the 8 year old to her mil. The 3 year old will be at preschool.

Happy Birthday to your little grandsons bellasnana, I hope they enjoy their party.

grandmattie I read “Gone with the wind” about 60 years ago.

Have a lovely time on Anglesey Susan, reliving memories of previous holidays.

Thinking of those with anxieties and those who are poorly and hoping that the day will bring some relief for you.

Have a good Thursday if you can.

GrannyGravy13 Thu 09-Apr-26 06:52:30

Good morning, from a bright S E Essex, forecast is ok, not as warm as yesterday.

Feeling extremely contemplative today, 9 yr anniversary of my darling mum’s death, it feels like yesterday except when I think of all the things that have happened in that time.

My cleaning fairies 🧚🧚‍♀️ are here first thing, then I shall decide between ironing or popping into the nearest shopping centre to have a mooch round the newly opened White Company shop…

Happy birthday to your GSs Bellasnana I hope they have a lovely party 🎉🎂🎁🎈

Grandmabatty Thu 09-Apr-26 06:40:19

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 10° and looks damp. Bellasnana happy birthday to your lovely boys. I hope they have a wonderful day. Susan that sounds like a lovely day for you yesterday.
Yesterday I met up with a couple of friends and we had lunch then visited our other friend who has lost her son. Her and her husband are obviously devastated but enjoyed our visit. It distracted them from the long hours. After that, we three returned to one friend's house and blethered for a couple of hours.
Today my car is going into the garage to get a slight flaw in the paintwork corrected. Dd will pick me up from the garage and take me back later to collect the car. In between, I will potter about the house. Maybe go into the garden if it stays dry. Have a good day all.

Good morning Mick and all GN's on a clear still but darkish morning in North Yorkshire. I am slowly creaking around, and hoping to loosen up and improve moving about as am taking a friend out this morning, and after a rubbish night, just hope that I improve a bit soon.

Yesterday was a seesaw of feelings and happenings. The weather was lovely and warm and clear, and it was market day, which meant I needed to go on the buggy. I tried yet again to sort out this payment problem but it wasnt having any, so with poor grace I got myself down to the bank to hope to quickly get sorted. Well, being market day and after the holiday there were lots of people most of the morning in and out, plus our branch is going to be closing too, with something sorted out at a bank hub for one day a week!! Huh! But of course I had not been able to book a time at short notice and it took an age to deal with things.

So after speaking to her and confirming I knew what and who I was paying and no scam etc., I sat and tried again whilst she dealt with other people, and again a problem. Then it was timing out etc., and it ended up with me doing it with her watching and on the one hand I felt less frustrated when it still went wrong, so at least I did not think it was all my fault, but eventually it was all sorted, bill paid and I was able to fight my way through the very busy market and go for a much needed coffee and calm down!

The weather stayed really nice and warm and my friend Heather joined me and then came home with me , where I made us some simple lunch of sandwiches and salad , which for the first time of the year we were able to sit outside in the sunshine and enjoy . Very calming after the morning I had had, and while I prepared to make the lunch, I opened the washer which I had set going before trogging off to the bank, thinking I would be back shortly to put out. So she kindly said she would hang it out for me and off she went while I got things ready. We had the chairs out and the little fold up foot stool cum sturdy step out as our table. No one around and we enjoyed our time out in the sunshine, and I ignored the mess not dealt with inside and made the most of it. Later I gave her a lift home in the car as she had parcels from the market as well and then there was only time for a quick coffee and change of top and it was time to go to the whist drive.

A lovely drive to the village in the daylight, with still lots of lovely daffodils on the roadside and the blossom out everywhere. You could see which side of the road got the sun, as there were parts of hedges greening up very nicely and at the other side still bare branches . Didnt do any good at the whist or the raffle but good to see people and had a big range of hands from 10 tricks down to 2, in a hand which had no court cards at all.

Came home and was just about to plug the buggy in which I hadnt had time to do earlier and cover it up , when I suddenly realized that I hadnt got the washing in so had to go up to the lines in the dark and grab it in case there was a shower in the night. Consequently need to sort quite a bit out this morning before going out. A farm not far from here is experimenting and doing a yorkshire version of the tulip fields of Holland , but of course much cheaper to visit! So they have planted fields with tulips set to come out in early, mid and late times and you have to book timed entrance but can stay as long as you like I gather. So we are going there this morning and it will be quite an experiment for us too, as havent been there before for a start, and as they are fields dont think I will be able to use my buggy, so it will depend how well I can walk round. In any case I shall take my binoculars so can see at a distance if I cant manage the walking. Think fingers crossed that the weather is meant to stay good this morning but going colder and possibilities of showers later so we shall see.

The cleaners will be here hopefully working their magic this afternoon, and I must write a little note of bits like opening a jar and reaching into the back of the cupboard for several things, which I am finding hard to do at the moment, in case they are early and I have not arrived back from our trip. So this week seems to have rushed by and I need to have a straighforward week next time and hope to get back on an even keel. I had thought to go swimming, but it was still holidays and I didnt find the time to try anyway , but next week perhaps I shall get back to it.

So I hope to settle down and get out my summer time trousers and tops, but will still be keeping jumpers and some winter trousers out alongside my suncream and sunhat. Probably need them all on one day as it stands right now.

Glad you are feeling better Mick and hope the weather stays dry for your trip into Bicester. GrandMattie hope your next book provides more interest for you to read next time,Bellasnana, hope the party goes off well and you manage to see a bit of the tennis anyway. I need to get on with sorting bits out and hope to come back and read posts when I have got things ready for todays trip. Hope the weather stays kind for everyone and you all have a positive day , wherever and whatever is happening.

Greyduster Thu 09-Apr-26 06:34:48

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire where a lovely pink sunrise is streaking the eastern sky but we are in for a cloudy day. I had an episode of excruciating cramp in my leg which had me hopping around and howling at two o’clock this morning. It’s so long since I had one I thought they’d gone for good. Seems not.

Yesterday was something of a lost day, as I had booked a time slot for an engineer from my energy company to upgrade my meters and he didn’t come. Two phone calls to Ovo failed to track him down and all they could do was rebook it for next month. So, wasted all the gorgeous weather we had in the morning as I couldn’t leave the house, and missed writers group in the afternoon. The only productive thing I did was to wash all the inside windows in the conservatory. Managed a walk in the evening.

Walking group today and then lunch with DD. A haircut scheduled for the afternoon.

Happy Birthday to your boys, Bellas🎂🎉🎈

Have the best day you can, folks.

grandMattie Thu 09-Apr-26 06:24:48

Happy 4th birthday 🎂 🎈 to your treasures, bellas!

Good morning from South Lanarkshire where the rain has returned.

I spent an age sorting out my linen cupboard yesterday. Many sheets and pillowcases have been consigned to the ragbag as pretty much all of my bedding is white and these had definitely lost their pristine look.

A couple of friends and I walked over to our local hotel for dinner last night, the food was average but the chat was good.

Not sure what today holds, I’ll see where it takes me.

Wishing everyone the best day possible.

Susan56 Thu 09-Apr-26 05:59:29

Good morning from Caernarfon where it is dry and dark.Sunshine and showers forecast for later.

We had a lovely day yesterday stopping at Bodnant Gardens for a picnic and then onto Plas Newydd. It was lovely to be back on Anglesey and the weather was glorious. We had packed an overnight bag just in case and managed to get rooms in the Premier Inn.Not sure what today’s plans our.

I walked 14000 steps yesterday and was in a deep sleep when my low blood glucose alarm woke me🙄I don’t think I had eaten enough to compensate for all the walking.Wide awake now after eating my emergency jelly babies 🤮

Happy Birthday to the boys Bellasnana 🥳🎂I hope they have a lovely party.

Wishing everyone the best day possible 🌷🦩
