Could I have 2 please? First would be A Street in Brittany by Stanhope Forbes. Second is The Little Street by Vermeer.

I chose Artimesia on mumsnet. Her work uses chiaroscuro to great effect. She was compared to Caravaggio and was one of the first women artists who painted people and very powerful subjects. I also love Caravaggio. More modern, my favourite is Christ of St John of the cross by Salvador Dali. I saw it first in the Kelvingrove Art Gallery when I was 12. I was taking part in an art competition for secondary pupils. It enthralled me than and does so to this day

I love the Lowry paintings. Especially the ‘going to work’ one. Don’t really know why but I’ve always loved the simplicity of them.

Wow petra. I cannot imagine how something so hard as marble or any stone can be carved to look so soft and see through.

The Annunciation by Fra Angelico, which is in the Prado. It is so beautiful and fresh. I stood looking at it for ages.

I also love Las Meninas by Velazquez, also in the Prado.

There’s a huge painting of Queen Charlotte (wife of George 3) in the National Portrait gallery.

All these pictures are huge and I don’t have a big enough wall.

The Penitent is beautiful. I have never seen her before. It mkes me want to jump on a train and visit some galleries.

And I will look up Artemisa G. She also was a Mumsnet choice
I look forward to the GNS choices which I have never seen before.

The Last of England by Ford Madox Brown. I'm a Brum and when I lived there I was a frequent visitor to Birmingham Art Gallery. I love the PRB paintings but was always drawn to this painting, it's shows a man and his wife and baby crossing the sea with hope of finding a better life in Australia. Nothing really changes, does it?

Yes beautiful dark penetrating eyes, as you say mesmerizing .

Pretty much anything by Monet.

She’s mesmerizing Terribull and looks right into your soul.
