Good Morning Tuesday 14th April 2026

Good Morning all from a sunny central south coast. I think we are supposed to warm up a bit today. Do hope so. I ache more when I am cold.

Yesterday afternoon I had a long chat with my sister on the Isle of Man, who has now got an enhanced hearing aid and some gadget on her phone so she can hear much better. She told me that our brother was in hospital having surgery on his diabetic feet. It involved the amputation of some toes on his good foot, having already has the same surgery on his other foot some time ago. He lives in the same sheltered housing complex as she does but is a bit of a recluse and spends his days reading and watching TV. He does not reply to emails, letters or answer his phone so I have virtually no contact with him.

My sister, 92 on Sunday just gone, is as bright and chipper as she has always been but it needs patience with all the repetition. I don't mind - she needs to talk!

Your new car looks a real sporty job, Ash! Hope you love it as much as your Fiesta and wishing you safe travels!

Hope for some good news from all with troubles or worries of any kind and some respite for strugglers.

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders where it's sunny but cold.

Yesterday was interesting. My friend's cousin is a writer and film editor who's worked on Antiques TV programmes. She brought him to look through my books to see if I have anything very special before I deliver the lot to charity.
He was here all day and wants to come back for another look.
He found some first editions, some very old and rare and some that he wanted to keep! I was able to tell my son that a stamp album he was given as a child is worth £££. He may come and collect it now 😂🤣

I treated us to lunch out.
I had a meeting on zoom on the evening.
Today I may do some gardening and more house things.

I am having a Spanish helper for a couple of weeks arriving tomorrow. He doesn't have much English and my Spanish consists of asking for coffee and tomatoes or quince on toast. Hopefully he'll be useful with a paintbrush and a shovel.

gMattie you must learn to say no occasionally! Keep doing the things you love. 😊

Good morning from a warm sunny Suffolk where I’m pleased to say I did manage to clear the ironing pile yesterday.

My dear friend who had a stroke in November has made a miraculous recovery and was declared fit to resume driving a few weeks ago. She is coming to pick me up later this morning and we are going to Dunwich for a walk along the cliff top and then fish and chips in the beach cafe,well known and loved by Gingster.

I hope MrG and Mr MD are both improving health wise and taking any medical advice given on board!!

I too am impressed by the number of activities some of you take on in a day but not surprising when you remember the adage my dear mum often said…..” If you want something done,ask a busy person”.

Hope today is a good one for all.

A good report from the consultant yesterday so will see him again in twelve months 😅I then did a Sainsbury’s shop and admin when I got home.DH has a really heavy cold and a bad cough so I am on nurse duty😬

Today I am taking my friend out for lunch.When she got her State Pension she took me out so now I have mine I am returning the favour.

Good morning from frosty South Lanarkshire.

Yesterday’s bright start lulled me into thinking spring may just have arrived, the squally showers later disabused me of that notion. I’ll stick to the winter layers for the time being. Ne’er cast a clout…..

Meanwhile my hardy DS and his eldest camped out on the beach last night and survived. He and his children are coming here to stay for a few days, I’m looking forward to seeing them.

We have to take the little car for new brake pads today, then I have choir and then a few ofvus adjourn to a local cafe for lunch - or tea and cake.

Yesterday was a little fraught as my friend and hairdresser (who calls herself our 4th daughter) came first supper and some advice. What she imparted about her business partner (and ex husband) was quite shocking and will take very careful handling.

Good morning from a grey cloudy east coast but I think it will be mild.

I’ve just had a lovely video chat with DS and GS they are excited about our visit to China we are now on countdown. DS is sending the shopping list from his friends from chocolates to biscuits all the way through to Pro Plus🤷‍♀️ so one cabin bag is filled with old clothes from GS with the 3-4 clothes now going to China. The other cabin bag will be full of the ‘shopping list’ and my gluten free stuff like bread and pasta etc. Must remember my toast bags. Eating gluten free in China is very difficult. Their local continental supermarket does now sell gluten free soy sauce which is a help.
We will have two empty cabin bags to fill to bring home. I usually bring half a dozen soy sauces home as I find the Kikkomen gluten free soy here very salty.

Today we have the window cleaner coming he does inside and out and the plumber later because we have a drip on the bath tap. DH thinks the bath will have to come out. I really hope not 🤦
I’m going to visit mum and take her some shopping so I’ll leave DH to all that. I’ve made the effort in that I’ve cleared the windowsills in preparation for the window cleaner.

DGS had an amazing first day at school yesterday and was perfect at ours. The DGDs were beautiful last night so a good day all round.

Good morning everyone from a bright and sunny 🌞 Northampton; just about to put a load of washing in the machine.

Lovely day yesterday, but still a chilly wind. Yoga in the morning which was unexpectedly well attended with barely enough room left to fit anyone else in - there were twice our usual number. Cut the front grass in the afternoon and then dealt with the worst of the weeds on the drive.

A bit of tidying up this morning, hang the washing out, then after an early lunch hope to join my walking group.

Good morning all from a sunny Glasgow,but it is only 1°C. Brrrr!

I am in awe Karma. I can strip down a computer or photocopier, but would be afraid to touch a washing machine. My tumble dryer has been out of commission for three weeks, due to an elusive repair man and spare part. It looks like, I will have to buy a new one. 😪

Yesterday, I finally got to speak to someone about DH. His BP was almost back to the level, which caused to be admitted to hospital.
I couldn't believe, I was no.3 in the queue. It was not a receptionist, who answered the phone, but the healthcare assistant, who checks my bloods and BP. Talk about relief. She looked up DH's hospital notes and was shocked. Asking why, I hadn't done an e-consult, I explained it had been deactivated. The staff had no idea about that.
She said she would pass on my concerns to a GP.
Also, knowing my history, she said I needed to look after myself. Little did I know that my BP was nearly matching DH's.

I felt awful all day and did very little, but fret.
DH's erratic behaviour is really upsetting me.
Finally in the afternoon, the GP, who gets me to be a guinea pig for the students phoned.
I had to bite my tongue, trying not to interfere interevene, he was talking nonsense, despite me writing everything down for him. He went totally off piste. 🤬
The best laugh was when, she asked how he was feeling, Fine, said he. Heaven preserve me from this eejit!
I whispered that he should mention his stomach upset. Instead of saying, he had diarrhoea, he said he had had to sit down, four times. There was a long silence, the doctor was totally puzzled, then the penny dropped.🤣

His medication has been doubled and he has an appointment for bloods and a BP check on Friday.. Getting the new prescription, meant driving to Paisley in the rush hour. I have driven this road (which I hate) so many times in the last week, I could do it blindfolded.
DS1 (the stressed one) has said he will take DH, to give me a break.

I also forgot to order my own prescription, because of everything, that has been happening. The online ordering has been deactivated, so I was in a pickle.
I was nearly in tears, explaining my predicament. A lovely receptionist has sorted it for me. ♥️

Today, I have my other hat on. I am driving DIL and Dollie to Silverburn. I can get back home very quickly, if necessary. DIL is wearing a twelve year old child's clothing and needs new.
clothes. She won't be allowed to drive for weeks.
We had promised to take Dollie out over the holidays and she was so disappointed, that Papa is unwell.
I am trying to make up for it.

Good morning from a bright S E Essex it is currently 8 rising to 15.

I have had an industrious hour already, sorted out various bit and pieces for my tax return. We have changed accountants and we need to get used to each other 🙀

I did t do the ironing yesterday, so that s my next job (allegedly)

This afternoon I have an aroma therapy massage and facial, part of my Christmas gift from DD. I will miss the first swimming lessons of this term (it’s rather like herding cats with The Imp 😹)

Thinking of our morning friends with illness and worries about their DH’s and other family members and friends 😘

Good morning everyone from a chilly and cloudy south Manchester. Showers are forecast.

No matter as I’m going along after lunch with a friend to listen to a talk by GMP on cyber crime, how to recognise scams and keep our money safe from criminals.

Afterwards we plan drinks in our favourite little bar to enjoy a proper catch up together. I’m so looking forward to this whole afternoon.

Good morning and it’s bright but not sure how warm it is.

Dh came out of hospital yesterday afternoon after a few hours of me and Dd struggling to see a doctor (strike) to see if he could come home. They are so busy but the wheels turn so slowly, getting information and meds.

Anyway he’s home and pleased to have had a quiet night.
His discharge letter said he’d had a UTI. The ward he was in was very noisy with elderly men, demented, in pain, confused etc. Not conducive to getting well.

I have to read all the instructions for each med- I need a degree to fathom it all. 🤯.
His walking is improved - still not great but at least he can move about a bit.

I hope Mr Marydoll is ok. He indeed sounds like many other husbands. Stubborn, head in the sand, and not taking ‘advice’ from their wives.

Roses well done with your clearing out but don’t overdo it.

Good morning from a dry Stockport.
Yesterday was a lovely sunny day until teatime when we had a sudden hailstorm, it was bouncing off the ground and then rained for an hour .
I had a busy day yesterday, two phone calls to customer service departments who were very efficient and resulted in a refund from one and a replacement item from another.
I was both pleased and impressed.
Then a message about the spring Covid vaccine which took me by surprise, I didn’t know they were being offered.
I decided again to take advantage and have one booked for next week.
After the usual Monday morning clear up I made “fridge bottom soup” it was very tasty and after having it again at lunch today I will have two portions for the freezer.
Sainsbury’s are delivering after lunch and I shall cook the piece of gammon arriving which will be enjoyed hot today and cold tomorrow, depending on my appetite there may be enough for an omelette the next day.
I hope the several unwell H’s are feeling somewhat better and are behaving themselves.

Good morning Mick and everyone from a now cloudy Carlisle.
I woke to a clear blue sky and went for an early walk. Just me, a few dedicated dog walkers and lots of birds singing their heads off. There was a slight nip in the air, very refreshing.
I have returned feeling re-vitalised and will get on with a bit of bathroom cleaning followed by admin. A Tesco delivery is scheduled for midday and will be followed by lunch, maybe a nap and then I'll play catch up with my reading, it's piling up.
There's just not time enough in the day for what I want to do, pity we have to sleep...speaking of which, I have been sleeping very well the last few weeks often getting 7 hours in. No idea why especially as I've upped my caffeine intake.
I've lowered my steroid dose again today so fingers crossed for no ill effects.

MD have a look for that part on ebay, you will need the model number. Lots of people strip and dismantle machines to sell the parts individually. If you can get it, find someone via local FB. Its worth a try

Re diy, I am no expert, just willing to give it a go and have tools. I always think it is worth a try if I can get to it via the reversible route ie screws out can return to screws in, hole in a wall through bad screw fix, easily filled and made good

If you can bend, squat and have enough energy, try it when the alternative could be expensive or a wait that is a pain in the arris

Today is my birthday and I’m going out with my daughter and daughter in law to visit a grand house with lovely gardens so hope the rain keeps off. Looking forward to spending the day with them.

Just had a smile of recognition at what appears to be men's universal reply to an enquiry about anything health related. "Fine"
Some years ago, my DH was admitted to hospital direct from the GP, as an emergency with a perforated appendix and needed immediate surgery. He reckoned he was "fine" and would walk to theatre for the op. The surgeon swiftly disillusioned him on that daft idea. Turned out he had gangrene from ignoring the increasing pain, until he couldn't.
There's being brave and there's being stupid!

I never could understand the “ I’m fine “ answer to medical enquiries, until my OH said the same , he was hoping the doctor would mind read his symptoms!
I have to get an X-ray on Friday to see if my hip replacement is ok
The pain is gone , it’s a puzzle
But I’m resisting saying I’m fine !!

Good morning from a chilly but brightening northwest coast.
A very enjoyable day yesterday with DD in the Cheshire countryside, sunny too! We visited Lower Peover and the pretty ancient church and pub, then lunch in Knutsford followed by a trip to Great Budsworth. DD drove, which I like as I can enjoy looking at the countryside, lovely at the moment with all the blossom.

Then a quiet evening with quiche for supper as we had lamb for lunch and that was enough.
I’m on duty and singing at the music club this afternoon so will have a warm up.
DS is coming over for a meal this evening. I have salmon fillets to hand.
