Good Morning Tuesday 14th April 2026

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders where it's sunny but cold.

Yesterday was interesting. My friend's cousin is a writer and film editor who's worked on Antiques TV programmes. She brought him to look through my books to see if I have anything very special before I deliver the lot to charity.
He was here all day and wants to come back for another look.
He found some first editions, some very old and rare and some that he wanted to keep! I was able to tell my son that a stamp album he was given as a child is worth £££. He may come and collect it now 😂🤣

I treated us to lunch out.
I had a meeting on zoom on the evening.
Today I may do some gardening and more house things.

I am having a Spanish helper for a couple of weeks arriving tomorrow. He doesn't have much English and my Spanish consists of asking for coffee and tomatoes or quince on toast. Hopefully he'll be useful with a paintbrush and a shovel.

gMattie you must learn to say no occasionally! Keep doing the things you love. 😊

Good Morning all from a sunny central south coast. I think we are supposed to warm up a bit today. Do hope so. I ache more when I am cold.

Yesterday afternoon I had a long chat with my sister on the Isle of Man, who has now got an enhanced hearing aid and some gadget on her phone so she can hear much better. She told me that our brother was in hospital having surgery on his diabetic feet. It involved the amputation of some toes on his good foot, having already has the same surgery on his other foot some time ago. He lives in the same sheltered housing complex as she does but is a bit of a recluse and spends his days reading and watching TV. He does not reply to emails, letters or answer his phone so I have virtually no contact with him.

My sister, 92 on Sunday just gone, is as bright and chipper as she has always been but it needs patience with all the repetition. I don't mind - she needs to talk!

Your new car looks a real sporty job, Ash! Hope you love it as much as your Fiesta and wishing you safe travels!

Hope for some good news from all with troubles or worries of any kind and some respite for strugglers.

I am so cross all my post has disappeared into thin air , and cant get it back. Yesterday lost an important link so might be laptop. Am going to just read your posts for now and hope that everyone else is having a better start to their day than me!

Yesterday was voluntary phone, not too busy and all requests for transport satisfied.

I too hope that all the poorly DH’s are improving, how I commiserate with Marydoll , I swear my DH is her DH’s twin 😬
Yesterday I tried out the new vacuum cleaner, I’m ashamed at how much dust it picked up 😵‍💫🫣
I spent a hour or two carrying on with my big tidy up and declutter, a bag of baby yarn went to my friend who’s son and DDIL are expecting a surprise baby 16 years after their youngest!
I don’t know that things are looking much different but it’s actually quite cathartic sorting out the living room. I’ll get that finished this morning.
I enjoyed my lunch then felt really 🤢 all afternoon, my appetite is really poor. One good thing is it won’t hurt me to lose a bit of avoirdupois, goodness knows I have enough ( is that the right word 🤔)?

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire where we have a dry day in prospect. Not as cold as yesterday morning when I got up to no heating or hot water as the pressure in the boiler had dropped through the floor. I repressurised it and it was fine but I have no idea why it happened except that combi boilers are fickle.

I had an assessment with a chiropractor yesterday who was so thorough that I felt at the end of it as if I had gone three rounds with Giant Haystacks! She’s drawing up a treatment plan, which means I will have to go back for more! Oh help!

I’m back at school for a volunteer session this afternoon and will walk there, hopefully.

Good morning from 4 degrees Cambridgeshire. I had a dreadful nights sleep and feel very weary.

Yesterday I walked with a friend our last catch up for a while as she is going abroad for a few weeks. Today I will need to catch up on washing and household things before getting the little ones from school later.

Hoping all those struggling will have an easier day today. Lots of DH’s seem to be having problems and sending best wishes to all.

Yesterday was a day of odd jobs. Ran vacuum round the music room and took picture frames etc off the piano in readiness for the tuner. It is never untidy so not a lot of work.
My sister was supposed to be travelling to the UK tomorrow but there is going to be an airline strike. No word yet on revised plans, can't be easy when you are 85 and have assisted travel.

grandMattie, you are always so busy, I marvel at your energy.
Yesterday I got up at 8am but had to have a two hour nap in the afternoon.
Thoughts are with poorly people and their carers.

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. It’s sunny and frosty again. We had several heavy showers yesterday afternoon and today looks much the same. My asthma review yesterday was a tick box exercise with someone who wasn’t a respiratory nurse. I obviously didn’t get some of the answers right, as I have another telephone review on Thursday with a respiratory nurse.
Today I have a long awaited appointment with a rheumatologist at the local hospital. DD2 will come with me, and I’m grateful for her company.

Sar I hope your DH’s hospital appointment is helpful in restoring his eyesight to normal.

ash, your poor fiesta looks so sad! I hope you enjoy the replacement! It’s good that a bus route has been changed in a way that’s useful for you.

bellasnana good that your internet connection has been restored. I always panic if anything goes wrong with mine.

Morning all from a slightly cool West Oxfordshire.

Yesterday was fun - while my cleaner cleaned I did the weekly Waitrose shop. Then, off to my friend over the road for our monthly craft afternoon. We are all working on various collages. One of our group is doing the most beautiful embroidery. We take it in turns to bring cake and this month someone had brought a delicious banana bread.

This morning I must complete all the various readings for my annual long term conditions check. Fortunately we have our own blood pressure monitor so I’ve been recording that for the past few days. I will measure and weigh myself too and send it all off. At some point I’ll have an appointment for various blood tests.

I often see friends on a Tuesday afternoon but I haven’t heard anything.

I need to be up and about early today as I’ve got a volunteering session this morning that starts at 8.30. Then I’ll go to the gym for just one class and have a quick coffee with pals before coming home mid afternoon. I hopefully get an hour in the garden later if it stays dry.

Good morning from s somerset, dull skies, cool and rain all day

Brilliant yesterday, I did all I wanted to do in my pullout larder, it is much tidier now, with storage containers filled and bags thrown out.

I noticed that the detergent dispenser lid in my dishwasher had gone floppy, it needed a repair. I did it, with trepidation, had to take the wooden door off followed by the back metal casing. The dispenser is that black and white box in the photo, something had become detached and I fixed it. The actual fix cost me minutes and I saved a shed load of money.

Its been an expensive couple of months, so many bills had to be paid including my water bill. I have to go to the opticians this morning and will need new expensive varifocals, I will be taking the bus and the scenic route

The weather was lovely yesterday, I went for a walk and it was devoid of car noise, there was only bird song and beautiful spring flowers and lots of lilacs

Ashcombe goodness! They certainly made a mess of your Fiesta!

Nothing exciting to report here other than disappointment that a decorator didn’t turn up as promised to price a job. Oh well. He’s off the list and better he’s proved unreliable before beginning work.

Routine Tuesday morning ahead, dust removal and grocery delivery. We have a tip slot booked for this afternoon which may be postponed if it’s too wet. We’re also on call to take a friend to hospital for cancer investigations if her daughter is held up. Really hope she’s not as it would mean a much disliked drive into a city centre.

Yesterday, I managed to complete all my errands in town, helped by the discovery that one of the buses from here has been rerouted so that I could alight not too far from the businesses I needed to visit, rounded off with a coffee in Waterstones. It is now a month since the accident and I will collect my ‘new’ car tomorrow. Attached photos show my poor Fiesta and its replacement.

Later I enjoyed a cuppa and catch up with my upstairs neighbour and friend before my usual daily Zoom with DH when he’s in France.

Thinking of those with poorly husbands in hospital and hope you have better news today, Marydoll and Gingster.

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently-1° and frosty. Brr! GrandMattie* I know that people pleasing feeling too! Bellasnana those cuddles are just everything.
Yesterday was a good day. Dgs2 started off grumpy but settled down. After I dropped off dgs1 at his football camp, dgs2 painted at the kitchen table for ages, then drew. He's started to recognise letters too and is curious about them. So we had a day creating mess. When I picked up dgs1, he was clutching a tooth. He was very proud that his wobbly tooth had come out. I had a very early night.
Today will be a repeat of yesterday. Football camp for dgs1, painting for dgs2. Firstly dgs2 and I might go for a coffee. Before all of that, I will have to scrape the car! Have a good day all.

Good morning from Malta where a fine day is expected with a high of 23°C.

I had the boys from 8am until 4pm yesterday and they were such lovely company.

They came with me to fill the car with petrol then I took them to the park where they ran around like Duracell bunnies! Oh to have a bit of their energy!

We spent a happy day reading, playing with dinosaurs and other activities that didn’t require internet, then they both took a nap, DGS1 climbing onto my knee and snuggling off to sleep like a baby, his little hand clutching my top. I cherish these precious moments with them as I know how quickly it will pass and cuddles with Nana won’t figure highly on their agendas!

I managed to call and speak to a human regarding my internet, An appointment was made for a technician to call this morning. However, in the afternoon DGS2 spotted all the lights were now lit up on my modem so it had been fixed remotely.
I have sent a message telling them not to come as I will be charged for a call out.

Signs have gone up on both sides of our road telling us there will be no parking on either side from tomorrow until 2nd May as the dreaded excavator will be digging its way up the street.
I think I might move into a hotel! The noise is going to be horrendous and relentless as they start at 7am and carry on all day with just a couple of breaks.

I have botrrowed my son in law’s power washer to do the backyard but dirty rain is again forecast for this evening so I am not sure if it’s worth doing it today.

grandMattie you are a marvel! I get anxiety just thinking about all you manage to cram into your days.

Good morning from Sheffield

A busy day for me too.
I have an osteopath appointment at 10. I think he’s doing a bit of good.

Then my hair appointment at 12:30.
My daughter is a hairdresser so I’m very fortunate in that. She hasn’t any appointments after me and has asked if we can have lunch together. I obviously said yes. It’s nice to see her on her own, it doesn’t happen very often with the demands of small children. I will get an update on the dog situation

I then have my volunteering from 5 to 8.
Sometimes when I get home at 8:15 I jump in the bath and then straight to bed to read. DH is out on a Tuesday evening, so I have the house to myself.
