Hi, has anyone tried collagen supplements with any degree of success? Fewer aches, less wrinkly skin?

I have taken them for some time, not sure about what they achieve.
I recently, last week listened to a BBC 4 programme ‘Toast or sliced bread’. Not sure that the correct title.
However, the scientific experts didn’t seem to think taking Collagen made much difference. I’ve stopped now.

Ive been taking it for 6mths and although I've not really noticed my skin is any less wrinkly my hair is another matter. Its been getting thinner over the last 4/5yrs but I now have an inch or two of new hair growth which is very noticable as I have long hair and the new growth sticks up and is fly away like a halo 😂but thats ok if I end up with thicker hair all over.

I've been taking collagen for a few months but not convinced of any changes. I am on other supplements too but recently my friend gave me some Creatine to try. It's meant to improve muscle strength and power, supports muscle growth, supports muscle recovery, may support cognitive function and may support healthy aging.
It's early days yet but much of the brain fogginess that seem to plague me - seems to have improved.

I've been taking collagen capsules for 4 weeks and certainly noticed my hair is growing thicker and nails are breaking less. I have new hair growth on my forehead. I'm not sure if I can give the details of the supplier.

I’ve been taking marine collagen for just a month, hoping it would help with my back and joint pain. I’ve noticed I’m definitely not taking quite as many painkillers in the last week or so. Not sure if it’s a coincidence but the other thing I’ve mainly noticed is the improvement in my nails! They were dry cracking and splitting but they are now much more supple. Definitely worth giving them a go.

I have just finished 90 days of marine collagen and was thinking that I wouldnt bother getting any more as I didnt see any change anywhere.
Then when I was drying my hair I noticed I have a halo!!
Lots of baby hair about an inch long all along my hairline!

I bought some more marine collagen at the weekend!!😊

I have been taking marine collagen. I highly recommend it and buy from the website. 'British Supplements'.

I have been taking bovine collagen powder for a couple of months. My main reason is I have resumed my weight loss journey. I halted it a year ago as I was horrified how my skin was wrinkling. Vain I know.! I had been taking collagen that was added to a vitamin tablet but not really noticed a difference!
My daughter suggested it for helping retain muscle mass( along with strength training).
The biggest issues I had were crepey bingo wings and inner thighs that looked like a deflated balloon. The turkey neck 😱 plus facial lines!
Im 64. Since finishing first pack ( 90 days worth) I have noticed an improvement. Facial lines and turkey neck appear less deep. Arms and thighs skin appears firmer -which could be strength training as well.
I haven't changed moisturisers or my hydration levels!
I think what made me think was yesterday a friend took a photo. I had not a scrap of make up on and she didn't use any filters. When I looked at the photo I was really surprised! No,I didn't look like a 30 year old but despite a few nights disrupted sleep I looked WELL! Dare I say my skin even had a slight glow?
Im well into accepting the perils of ageing skin and realise its down to genetics etc and no cream or oil is going to be life changing. I was very sceptical about collagen powder but ive seen an improvement since using it!

What do vegetarians use instead please?
Anyone know?

Dorsetcupcake61 Sat 18-Apr-26 11:35:31

I think its quite hard to get a vegetarian form? My daughter is vegetarian-mostly due to fact doesn't like taste of meat and she takes the same one as me. If there was a vegetarian alternative she would have found it.
