Good morning from South Lanarkshire. It’s cool but bright.
We had a fairly slow day in the shop yesterday, the children went back to school on Monday and the town felt quieter.
DH’s appointment was cancelled due to ‘the consultant being unavailable’ with a couple of hours notice and rescheduled to next week.
I have no plans today but hopefully will get outside for a long dog walk at least.
Have the best day possible everyone.

Good Morning Wednesday 22nd April 2026
(48 Posts)Good morning from misty Leicestershire, I can’t see the hill.
I sorted out some old family photos yesterday. I didn’t even know who some of them were.
Today we are going to meet friends for coffee then I may have to water my pots outside.
Fortunately Charlie, our robot, has been cutting the grass.
Lovely that your DH is coming back to you Ashcombe.
Wishing everyone the best day possible.
WhiteSwan, my condolences on the loss of your dear friend💐
I hope things settle down with your uncle this morning and that you are soon home.
Good morning from a bright and sunny day on the Essex coast.
DH has a Dermatology appointment this morning so back to the hospital for us.
He cannot see out of his right eye and has another two weeks to wait for his third transplant. He is really struggling and very uncomfortable and spends most of the time at home in a dark room.
Take care everyone and have a good day xx
Morning Mick, morning All from a sunny corner of Somerset.
Little activity yesterday as this head cold/sinus issue and no sleep left me with balance issues and feeling like a wet rag. We were due a trip to Longleat, just not sensible. Other than a GP practice meeting this afternoon today will be spent quietly. I have hope for better things tomorrow.
Best wishes to all, have the best day you can.
Good morning from the east coast and the seagulls are in fine voice. They are so loud. It’s a sunny morning.
I am in my uncles assisted living complex in the guest room they provide. I had to stay last night because the paramedics were called to him yesterday while we were visiting and he wouldn’t go to hospital so a dr from a frailty unit in Hull said he could stay at home but only if a family member stayed with him. So here I am. Even though he has carers through the night I had to stay. They are sending the Dr this morning sometime so I’ll stay until then. I’ll get sorted and go to his flat and sit with him. It’s such a long story and part of it if I told you you wouldn’t believe.
Yesterday was an awful day all round. We visited our best friend and sat with his family, held his hand and chatted about our memories of holidays and fun get togethers and tearfully said our goodbyes and he passed away in the early hours. I was messaging my darling friend at 2am she has such a long journey ahead of her now but has lots of support from family and friends we will miss him so much.
My heart goes out to friends suffering grief and sadness. 💐
Thoughts to those feeling poorly 💐
Hope there is sunshine in your day with maybe moments of joy 🌼
Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 6° and sunny. Long may it last! Marzipan your garden is so lush. Ashcombe safe journey to your dh. GrandMattie the story of your grandparents is really interesting.
Yesterday was another good day. The boys enjoyed school/nursery and dgs1 received 2 stickers for tidying up. I made a slow cooker pot of mince and vegetables then made suet dumplings and added them towards the end. The suet was out of date but doesn't appear to have done me harm. I have enough left of the mince for tonight and to freeze some.
Today will be a very quiet day. Tidying up the kitchen and pottering around. I'm looking forward to doing little. Have a good day all.
Good morning everyone from south Manchester. It’s a gorgeous start to the day here, sunny not windy and 16°C is forecast.
I have yoga at the library this morning then I’m meeting 3 book club friends for lunch in the square which I’m really looking forward to after Downward Dog! 😮
Good morning all. Just having a cuppa before getting Dh ready for his appointment with the nurse to have the stitches taken out from his chest . It doesn’t look very good and hasn’t healed well, so we’ll see what transpires.
I’ve put his friend off from visiting later as Dh will probably feel sore and not really up to visitors.,
Yesterday Dd and I and little pooch had a wander around the Mount. Lots of blue and white bells, blossom and wild flowers .
Just lovely.
I hope all poorlies feel better and missing grans are ok and will return soon.
Take care all 🌺
Good morning Mick and all from a sunny but very breezy Kidderminster where we are staying en route to Burnham on Sea. DH and Crazy dog are still fast asleep, it’s a much more comfortable bed in this camper van even though it’s no longer than our previous one. It has a separate bed area so I shall get up and make us a cup of tea in a minute. We are camping in a big field and as there’s only us here the owner has said Crazy dog doesn’t have to be on a lead. One of us needs to be with him though as we cannot be certain if there’s an escape route!
Yesterday I visited the village where my great great grandparents lived. The houses all looked similar to my photograph but I couldn’t really say that’s the one as so many changes will have been made in the last hundred years or so. My mother spoke fondly of her visits there and the country traditions of edible flowers and hand picked nettle soup. A world away from the crowded streets of Manchester where she grew up. It was good to visit and get a feel of the place. There were no obvious clues to the family in the churchyard either as the old gravestones had been laid horizontally and the inscriptions either worn away or covered with grass.
Wishing all a good day. Take care.
Good morning from a brightening, breezy Cornwall with a lovely wind blowing from the river across my patio. Mrs blackbird is under a shrub near me, on her quest to feed the babies. Lots of painting achieved yesterday at my daughter-in-law's new home. She's chosen to paint it a mossy green throughout and it's going to look lovely. Two very jolly men appeared from Cornwall Housing to check her gas boiler and answer any practical queries.
This morning I'm going to an art exhibition where someone I 'taught' a few years ago is showing a painting, a very brave step for her. Then on a bus back to do more mossy painting and helping assemble the bed for my eldest grandson who lives half the time with his mum.
Good morning, Michael, and all GNs. It is murky and cool in South Yorkshire this morning, but thankfully the wind has dropped. Putting my bed linen on the line yesterday was like wrestling the sails of an old Cape Horner!! I’m amazed it stayed put.
In the afternoon I went over to our country park and walked around the big lake. I had only intended to walk part of the way round but decided to push on and then forgot how far it actually was. I was walking into the wind on the home stretch which was not pleasant. When I got back to the car I was on my knees but pleased with myself for having done it.
Writers group at the library this afternoon.
Have the best day you can, folks. Safe travels to OldD, Ash!
Good morning everyone from mid Essex. It’s dry and sunny again, but still chilly. A nagging easterly breeze yesterday kept the temperature down. Still no rain so the garden is drying out and becoming harder to pull the weeds out! I haven’t been able to do much gardening for a few years, so it’s become quite overgrown. DD2 is coming to help on Saturday while both her daughters are at birthday parties!
Chair yoga this morning which will be a good stretch!
rosesandlilac I hope you hear something soon from the hospital.
ashcombe hopefully your DH will have a trouble free journey from France.
Thinking of those who are struggling at the moment, and hoping life gets a little easier for you all.
Have the best day possible everyone.
Good morning, it’s really chilly (3°) here on the hillside in south Glos, yesterday was the same until late morning - I had the central heating on as well as the wood burner, I couldn’t get warm.
I had a call from PALS at the hospital, apparently I should have had a letter on April 1 regarding the appointment with the consultant at LIFT clinic ( our postal service is appalling here). A copy was emailed to me but still no clearer as to when the biopsies or oncology appointment will be 🤷🏼♀️. It just says that the PET CT results will be discussed at a MDT meeting.
So the waiting continues.
I enjoyed having my friend for coffee, she’s enormously knowledgeable about birds and nature; we sat by the patio doors watching the birds on the feeders. There’s a greater spotted woodpecker nesting in a dead ash tree that comes to the feeder. I hope it will bring its young in due course.
I will do a bit of pottering in the garden today, I need to be outside and there’s always something to be done.
Wishing you all a good day 🌹
Good morning from sunny s somerset
It was such a lovely fulfilling and positive day again yesterday, my circadian rhythm is again working properly and I work with it, keeping it to a sleep/wake routine, so my energy is very good
Yesterday I cycled to my allotment and did two hours in the sunshine them home to a leisurely lunch. I sat for a short time and was itching to start work on my windows, downstairs inside and outside. I caught all bar one when the sun was not on them, 14 windows but they were easy as I have the ungers liquid and equipment
From then I just relaxed at home, easing myself to bedtime. It was a lovely day
Today I am walking and will do some spinning (on a wheel), I have some plying to do too and a book to finish and likely a lot of chat with my siblings, who are all retired and like me, are active with fulfilling lives. I love that we 6 are close, love to chat and are willing sharers of information and advice
Good morning from a bright S E Essex.
Another bad night here, I feel more tired than we I went to bed…
I have my chores planned before I go to the gym, strip the bed and feed the washing machine.
Hope your DH has an eventful journey back to you Ashcombe
(((Hugs))) to all 🙋♀️
Good morning from a dry NE.
Been awake since 3.30 so done quite a lot of reading.
My sister visited me yesterday afternoon and brought cake, we had lots of tea and caught up with news. She does remarkably well for her age.
Today my younger sister will visit and I will do a grocery shop.
Have a good day.
Good morning from Shropshire.A bright start with a sunny day forecast but still breezy.
I had a busy morning yesterday. The usual housework then a couple of hours sorting through clothes I know I won’t wear again.A couple of bags to the charity shop later.
Today we have somebody coming to clean the gutters and windows.DH usually does this but has accepted that we may need help with some things occasionally. We will collect DGD later for our usual Wednesday of meal out and then onto dance. She played netball for the school yesterday so we are looking forward to hearing about that.
Thinking of all absent friends and all struggling 🙏🏻
Wishing everyone the best day possible 🌷🦩
Good morning all from a chilly but brightish North Leicestershire.
DH is off to the gym early and I will do a bit of housework. We are going to a pub by the river for lunch as I am helping on an online course this evening which plays havoc with normal meals.
Have the best day possible everyone.
Good morning from Malta where a sunny day is dawning with a forecast high of 29°C🥵
Had a lazy morning yesterday due to having had such a bad night, but I was re-energised when I saw my two treasures on the doorstep after school. 🥰
We walked up to the local park where they had a good time playing, although they insist I go on the see-saw with them!
It was very hot yesterday and there was no shade due to the large sail that used to be strung above the play equipment having blown down in the high winds we had. I hope it will be replaced as it was unbearably hot yesterday.
This morning I have my nails after which I want to go and look at light fittings for the spare room. I will also pop to Lidl for milk and avocados. They do a string bag with five very small ones which are really delicious.
Glad to hear your DH is on his way back to you today Ashcombe. I wish mine was.😞 Thanks for the advice re drinking water. I’ve tried it today so we shall see!😄
I’m another who is very concerned about madeleine. I hope she is ok.🙏🏻
RosesandLilac I do hope you have some news soon regarding your next step. I remember my late sister going to her GP with a lump in her breast, the GP said she would refer her to have it checked, then nothing for two months. She was only 48 at the time. When she called to ask when she might expect to be seen , her GP said ‘oh, I’m so sorry, I forgot about you!’
Thinking of you all and hoping you have something to enjoy today.☀️
Good morning from Bristol.
I've been awake “forever”. I thought that I’d passed that stage, but…
Ash, I’m delighted for you that oldd is coming back. Welcome.
I did a lot of baking yesterday - my “famous” fruit cake, biscuits, flapjack and date loaf; much of it is in anticipation of the next live concert where +or- 100 people attend, free of charge, paying their £2 for coffee and a plate of cake on the table! It is not a money spinner, but is good for bringing together the lonely and old.
Later, a neighbour came to return the copies if my grandmother’s letters to her own mother, written in 1906, soon after her wedding. My grandfather worked in the goldmines on the Rand, and the move from Mauritius to Johannesburg, aged barely 18, was tremendously brave especially as she hardly spoke any English. My neighbour had lived in Johannesburg for nearly 30 years and was fascinated by the whole thing…
Today, FABcafe, more not-WI planning…
May your mountains be levelled, Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩
Good morning everyone, from a very windy Torbay. In fact, it has disturbed my sleep several times.
DH is returning today travelling by train and Eurostar so he will be setting off soon from his home in France. He wasn’t able to get a seat on the usual train so he will be rather later in arriving. I think he’s excited about seeing the new car, as well as us being together again, of course!
We have a quiz planned for Wednesday club this afternoon, so I shall go to that but I need to do some jobs at home this morning, including ironing, otherwise he’ll have no pyjamas to wear tonight!
Happy hump day, everyone! 🦩💐🦩🥰🦩
Good Morning Everyone,
A dark start but should be twilight soon here in Brackley this morning.
Todays plans a bus trip to Bicester as usual, shop and chat to those I know, have lunch and watch cycling from Belgian Ardennes on TV .
Health OK
Take Care,
Mick
