Good Morning Everyone,
A dark start but should be twilight soon here in Brackley this morning.
Todays plans a bus trip to Bicester as usual, shop and chat to those I know, have lunch and watch cycling from Belgian Ardennes on TV .
Health OK
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning everyone from a bright and sunny 🌞 Northampton, another fine day ahead.

As I forecast yesterday, I got none of the jobs done that were on my list, and instead sorted and tidied the coat and shoe cupboard in the hall. I moved all my winter shoes and boots into the cupboard under the stairs, tidied my costs and jackets, and found new homes for some of my (many) handbags. I also now have a pile of scarves that I haven't worn for years waiting for the charity bag.
After lunch I joined my walking group and admired the sea of bluebells on our walk through the woods.

A few household jobs to do this morning then I am out for lunch with my oldest friend. DS and family gave me a voucher for Christmas for a three course Prosecco lunch for two at an Italian restaurant; as it was my friend's birthday last week and mine on Monday, it seemed an ideal time to use it. I must remember to wrap her present and write her card before I go.

Ginny enjoy Mojacar - I visited last month on my recent Spanish holiday and it is indeed a pretty little village and well worth the visit.

Wishing all a pleasant Wednesday.

Sad news WhiteSwan 🥀

ginny Wed 22-Apr-26 08:11:33

Good morning. Another day of clear skies and sunshine forecast. We have just docked at Almeria, Spain. We are going on a shore excursion to Mojacar and some other villages. Later this afternoon we have a flamenco show from a local group to look forward to. All the entertainment on board has been so good, many of the shows easily up to big theatre standard.
Condolences to those who are sad or poorly , I hope today brings some relief.

Good morning from Glasgow, where it is 5°C,

Bella that is hot!!! I have so many fond memories of Malta.

I have a busy day ahead. I have decided not to go down to church, I am worn out. Also I have neglected the housework, so I need to catch up --especially cleaning the skirting boards.--😉

I was supposed to take DIL to see the surgeon today, but it clashed with a personal appointment, so her mother will reluctantly take her.
DH is missing Dollie really badly. So he is accompanying me on the school run this afternoon.
Poor DIL. To add to her woes, her beautiful, long blonde hair is falling out.
She sent me a tearful message and photos of her bald patches. She is distraught. 😪

I spent most of yesterday afternoon, trying to renew DH's driving licence online.
My smart, capable and independant husband was so overwhelmed by it all. 😪
I had to make a Govt One login account for him. I am ashamed to say, that at one point, I lost all patience with him.
I had warned him to have his emails open, have his ID ready and phone in hand,
Of course he had totally disregarded my orders advice. 😪

I did learn one thing. You can scan the hidden biometrics in your passport, by putting your phone right up to it. Every day is a school day!

My plan is to do catch up, before my appointment. I kept waking up during the night, overwhelmed by my life and everything, it is throwing at me,
I know I am neglecting my own health, by trying to support DH and DIL, but have little choice.

The sun has just come out, everything seems so much better, when the sun is shining. 🌞

Sar, I am so sorry to read about your husband and also thinking of Mr & Mrs Ginster

Best wishes to all. X

Good morning from Cambridgeshire. Another here who had a bad night both DH and I were reading our kindles at 3 am wide awake. I managed to fall asleep around 4.30 ish and was awoken by the smoke alarm sending out a low battery signal why does this always happen at night🤷‍♀️

R & L hope you hear something very soon the waiting is so very hard.
Whiteswan my sincere condolences on the loss of your dear friend and current difficulties with your uncle.
Lots are struggling here with health issues and hope today may be easier and the help needed will be forthcoming 💐

I am meeting a friend for lunch today whom I met some 50 + years ago when we were both working at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, I was 18 and she 27. So many years have passed and so many memories.

Hope today brings some happiness and something to smile about to everyone on this lovely GM thread 🌷

Good morning from another sunny day in Norfolk. We plan a drive as far east as Holt, taking in a few old railway sites! Hopefully another enjoyable lunch included. DD2 is 52 today a day spent with her class of 30 six year olds.
Thoughts with those struggling along

Morning all from West Oxfordshire.

OH and I are off to the cinema this morning to see Project Hail Mary, a sci fi. On the way we will buy sandwiches to eat while we’re watching the film,

Have a good day everyone, especially those of you going through difficult times.

Good morning from another sunny Suffolk but I can see from the waving trees in the garden that there is still quite a strong wind. It was glorious at the coast yesterday but very chilly in the wind.

My friend and I enjoyed 4 hours together drinking hot chocolate from a little hut on the promenade, a further walk to a favourite cafe for lunch, inside rather than one of the tables overlooking the crazy golf pitch whilst chatting with much laughter all the time.

Today I’ll be off to my keep fit class and then getting the train for my afternoon meeting. Where possible these days,if a journey involves driving on the A12 I get the train.

Am about to have another cup of tea which I shall enjoy whilst reading your posts.

Kind thoughts to all, especially those struggling with ill health or caring responsibilities.

Good morning from Sunnyside sandhills northwest coast.
Reluctant to wake this morning as having some pleasant dreams, but the hip bothered me during the night. I’ve started using a pillow between my knees, but it doesn’t seem to make much difference.

The music club yesterday was enjoyable with some new members and I wasn’t on the desk so could relax more. Shopping in a cold wind, although sunny.

Today to the usual lunchtime recital and first meeting of the opera co after the Easter break tonight. I’m glad to get back to my usual routine, not being much of a home bird and certainly not domesticated, apart from enjoying cooking.

Thoughts to R&L WhiteSwan and all🌺

💐WhiteSwan63 - condolences on the loss of your friend.

dragonfly46 Wed 22-Apr-26 07:41:36

So sorry to hear your news WhiteSwan. Losing such a good friend is very hard.
I hope your uncle is a little better this morning

Jaxjacky Wed 22-Apr-26 07:41:21

Morning from a bright S Hants, we had little sun yesterday, the wind was cold too, the ground is very dry, no rain for ages.
Safe journey to oldudders.
R&L I’m dismayed by your lack of news.
Today Openreach will be here ‘between 8 and 1’ the next stage of full fibre broadband installation, hope it’s worth it.
I must ring my dentist too, I have a nagging tooth, hopefully a filling, my teeth are dreadful.

Good morning everyone from Inverness where its dry and bright with some blue sky, looks like a nice day ahead
WhiteSwan sending condolences on the loss of your friend 💐
rosesandlilac sorry you’re having to wait so long without knowing what’s happening
It’s the usual Wednesday activities for me, off to the gym for a couple of classes, coffee with pals, a walk by the river and the bus home. There’s also a dance class this evening that I’ll probably go to, it’s just as enjoyable for the social aspect as well as the dancing.
Safe travels to your DH Ash and everyone else on the move today
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Georgesgran Wed 22-Apr-26 07:38:29

Good Morning from Durham. It’s dry, with some patches of blue sky.
I had a lovely day in a windy Harrogate yesterday. Lived there for my first 4/5 years and my DM was always happy there, so it’s a cathartic place for me. I caught sight of myself in a mirror - can’t believe how much extra weight I’m carrying, but I can’t seem to shift it!
I’ve a friend coming for coffee, his first visit since his wife died. I think it’s going to be emotional.
💐R&L it’s just not good enough.

Best wishes to all. X

Good morning from South Lanarkshire. It’s cool but bright.

We had a fairly slow day in the shop yesterday, the children went back to school on Monday and the town felt quieter.

DH’s appointment was cancelled due to ‘the consultant being unavailable’ with a couple of hours notice and rescheduled to next week.

I have no plans today but hopefully will get outside for a long dog walk at least.

Have the best day possible everyone.

dragonfly46 Wed 22-Apr-26 07:37:18

Good morning from misty Leicestershire, I can’t see the hill.

I sorted out some old family photos yesterday. I didn’t even know who some of them were.
Today we are going to meet friends for coffee then I may have to water my pots outside.
Fortunately Charlie, our robot, has been cutting the grass.

Lovely that your DH is coming back to you Ashcombe.
Wishing everyone the best day possible.

Susan56 Wed 22-Apr-26 07:33:49

WhiteSwan, my condolences on the loss of your dear friend💐

I hope things settle down with your uncle this morning and that you are soon home.

Sar53 Wed 22-Apr-26 07:32:47

Good morning from a bright and sunny day on the Essex coast.
DH has a Dermatology appointment this morning so back to the hospital for us.
He cannot see out of his right eye and has another two weeks to wait for his third transplant. He is really struggling and very uncomfortable and spends most of the time at home in a dark room.
Take care everyone and have a good day xx

cornergran Wed 22-Apr-26 07:31:26

Morning Mick, morning All from a sunny corner of Somerset.

Little activity yesterday as this head cold/sinus issue and no sleep left me with balance issues and feeling like a wet rag. We were due a trip to Longleat, just not sensible. Other than a GP practice meeting this afternoon today will be spent quietly. I have hope for better things tomorrow.

Best wishes to all, have the best day you can.

WhiteSwan63 Wed 22-Apr-26 07:26:50

Good morning from the east coast and the seagulls are in fine voice. They are so loud. It’s a sunny morning.

I am in my uncles assisted living complex in the guest room they provide. I had to stay last night because the paramedics were called to him yesterday while we were visiting and he wouldn’t go to hospital so a dr from a frailty unit in Hull said he could stay at home but only if a family member stayed with him. So here I am. Even though he has carers through the night I had to stay. They are sending the Dr this morning sometime so I’ll stay until then. I’ll get sorted and go to his flat and sit with him. It’s such a long story and part of it if I told you you wouldn’t believe.

Yesterday was an awful day all round. We visited our best friend and sat with his family, held his hand and chatted about our memories of holidays and fun get togethers and tearfully said our goodbyes and he passed away in the early hours. I was messaging my darling friend at 2am she has such a long journey ahead of her now but has lots of support from family and friends we will miss him so much.

My heart goes out to friends suffering grief and sadness. 💐
Thoughts to those feeling poorly 💐
Hope there is sunshine in your day with maybe moments of joy 🌼

Grandmabatty Wed 22-Apr-26 07:22:24

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 6° and sunny. Long may it last! Marzipan your garden is so lush. Ashcombe safe journey to your dh. GrandMattie the story of your grandparents is really interesting.
Yesterday was another good day. The boys enjoyed school/nursery and dgs1 received 2 stickers for tidying up. I made a slow cooker pot of mince and vegetables then made suet dumplings and added them towards the end. The suet was out of date but doesn't appear to have done me harm. I have enough left of the mince for tonight and to freeze some.
Today will be a very quiet day. Tidying up the kitchen and pottering around. I'm looking forward to doing little. Have a good day all.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Wed 22-Apr-26 07:19:11

Good morning everyone from south Manchester. It’s a gorgeous start to the day here, sunny not windy and 16°C is forecast.

I have yoga at the library this morning then I’m meeting 3 book club friends for lunch in the square which I’m really looking forward to after Downward Dog! 😮

Gingster Wed 22-Apr-26 07:16:47

Good morning all. Just having a cuppa before getting Dh ready for his appointment with the nurse to have the stitches taken out from his chest . It doesn’t look very good and hasn’t healed well, so we’ll see what transpires.

I’ve put his friend off from visiting later as Dh will probably feel sore and not really up to visitors.,

Yesterday Dd and I and little pooch had a wander around the Mount. Lots of blue and white bells, blossom and wild flowers .
Just lovely.

I hope all poorlies feel better and missing grans are ok and will return soon.

Take care all 🌺

Good morning Mick and all from a sunny but very breezy Kidderminster where we are staying en route to Burnham on Sea. DH and Crazy dog are still fast asleep, it’s a much more comfortable bed in this camper van even though it’s no longer than our previous one. It has a separate bed area so I shall get up and make us a cup of tea in a minute. We are camping in a big field and as there’s only us here the owner has said Crazy dog doesn’t have to be on a lead. One of us needs to be with him though as we cannot be certain if there’s an escape route!
Yesterday I visited the village where my great great grandparents lived. The houses all looked similar to my photograph but I couldn’t really say that’s the one as so many changes will have been made in the last hundred years or so. My mother spoke fondly of her visits there and the country traditions of edible flowers and hand picked nettle soup. A world away from the crowded streets of Manchester where she grew up. It was good to visit and get a feel of the place. There were no obvious clues to the family in the churchyard either as the old gravestones had been laid horizontally and the inscriptions either worn away or covered with grass.
Wishing all a good day. Take care.
