Good morning from a sunny but breezy Torbay.
Thank you for all your good wishes for olddudders yesterday and kind enquiries today. He arrived safely but later than usual so we’ve slept in this morning, a rare event for us! I picked him up from Newton Abbot and he enjoyed discovering the gizmos in the new car!
A trip to Lidl is planned now I have my porter to help with the bags. He needs to visit the barber, too!
Wishing you all a good day! 🦩🥰🦩💐🦩

Good Morning Thursday 23rd April 2026
(40 Posts)Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark but dry outside and no doubt chilly here in Brackley this morning.
The usual routine with a bus trip to Bicester to shop and say hello to those I know, I have been wearing a fleece , but I am going to wear my winter coat due to the chilly air outside ,roll on milder weather as to winds .
Health OK ,
Take Care,
Mick
Good morning from Algiers where we have just berthed. I have no read all the news yet but will when we return from our excursion. Just one more port of call before two sea days to get home.
Yesterday we visited Mojacar, a mountain village with pretty streets and long distance views.
Wishing all a good day with a smile along the way.
Sorry you had such a bad day yesterday Marydoll.I totally understand your distress over your hair💐
Still no sunshine here and it feels chilly again. It's so difficult to know what to wear. Thinner chinos are a bit chilly. Thicker joggers are too wintry. Thermals are in the drawer. Still in pjs so must shake a leg.
Hope it warms up this afternoon.
Good morning from Stockport where once again is sunny and bright blue skies.
I am rushing this morning as I am having my Covid booster and must be out soon but I shall read with a coffee when I get back, meanwhile have a good day.
Good morning from Shropshire.Chilly at the moment but another sunny day forecast.
Gutters, windows and fascia’s cleaned yesterday. We then dropped a box of rhubarb at the community kitchen and clothes to the charity shop.We collected DGD from school. The netball matches had gone well, they won three out of four games. We had fish and chips then on to her dance class followed by circus skills.
Today I will go into town while DH continues sorting out the garage.I have lost my confidence with driving since I was ill so as it’s not far will drive myself.I have driven several times with DH next to me so time to bite the bullet😬
Grandmabatty congratulations to your DGS.
Sar, your poor husband must be so fed up and hard for you too.Thinking of you both💐
I hope Marydoll had a better day yesterday.
Wishing everyone the best day possible🌷🦩
Gingster I want to wish you luck with your eye test, precious eyes, taken for-granted when we are young. I believe I know how you feel.
Good morning all from a sunny Glasgow, but it is only 3°C.
What fabulous nails, Bella! Your technician is very talented.
I am a very down today. I had a hairdresser's appointment yesterday, which was a complete disaster. I have been going there since 1991, because it was conveniently situated beside my school.
My hair is very thick and my painful hands make it difficult and exhausting to dry. I asked the hairdresser to thin it out and layer it.
I do not know, what she was thinking about. My only redeeming feature is no more, I look like Convict 99.
I wept in my car, because I look like a wee, frumpy old lady. and I am very vain.
When I got home, looking for support, DH stifled a laugh, which made me feel even worse. He has no filters and can be unconsciously, quite hurtful.
His behaviour is still being affected by his BP, which is remains extremely high. Consequently, I am living in fear of him having a stroke.
I was no sooner in the door, when I had to do the school run. DH came with me, because he wanted to see Dollie.
I hid in a corner of the playground, trying to avoid people.
That didn't work. I don't know how many people came to speak to me, but it was a lot!
The first thing Dollie said, after grabbing my hand was: I like your hair gran, 😪
How I adore that wee girl.😍
On arriving at DIL's, the look on her face said it all. Hopefully, you can see another hairdresser, to do something with it, she said. She couldn't even pretend it was O.K.
To make matters worse, she made me feel guilty, by saying that she got a bus and walked the rest of the way to the hospital. I was so annoyed, her parents were supposed to do it, because DH is still not driving. I felt so guilty.
It turned out, she hadn't even asked them🤬
I was so upset, when I got home.
She spent the whole evening messaging me, advising me to go to a different hairdresser today. She was making me feel even worse.
In the end, DD told her to leave me alone and stop messaging me, she wasn't helping!!
I have to visit the surgery today, I will be wearing a paper bag over my head.
This should be a Babydoll, day, but neither of us are well enough to look after her. I feel awful, about letting DS2 down, but we are not fit for purpose.
I really miss her.
Best wishes to all, who are struggling. Well done to your wee DGS, GMB and I hope OLDD has arrived safely.
Have a good day, all. Sorry for such a miserable post.x
Be very careful Greyduster that the email from your WiFi provider isn’t just random phishing scam ware.
Phone your supplier direct don’t click on any links as it sounds a bit suss to me.
Good morning and after a poor nights sleep, I slept in.
Just having a cuppa and then ‘walking’ (🙄) to get little pooch groomed. This non driving lark is catching up with me., I
have another eye test next week🙏.,
Sar so sorry to hear your dh is having problems. I seem to live at the hospital these days, so will look into Costa next time to see if you’re there.,
Rushing off now so will read your posts later xx
Good morning everyone from a cloudy Northampton, but sun is forecast later. My washing dried beautifully on the line yesterday, and I have a small load of delicates to deal with today.
A Sainsbury's delivery late morning, and hopefully I will get some jobs done from my long list. If I can get the bathrooms cleaned and vacuum upstairs and do the staircase that will do.
Had a lovely lunch out with my oldest friend yesterday for our joint birthdays; we reminisced about our days teaching at the same school in the 1970s, when we were young marrieds in our 20s; our husbands got on well together too, and we used to do lots as a foursome. Sadly both husbands are no longer with us.
I also found time to pop into the jewellers in town for a new watch battery - my watch had been losing all week.
Wishing all a pleasant Thursday.
Good morning from another sunny day in Norfolk. A good day out as far east as Holt. We stopped at Weybourne station and for the first time ever saw an adder wriggling around outside the station entrance.
At present DH is still asleep so we shall decide later what to do today.
Love the nails Bella
Best wishes
Happy St George’s Day from south Manchester where we have a cracking forecast with plenty of sunshine forecast and a high of 19°C
It’s also Shakespeare Day today today! (Bet you knew that already Ashcome!) 😁
I’ve a routine appointment at the GP surgery mid morning so I’ll get a coffee and walk through the park taking my sunglasses too I think. They are designer Tom Ford spex and the last birthday present from Himself to me last August.
Mid afternoon I’m meeting a friend who as an ex colleague at the hospital for drinks in the pub across the road. If it’s warm enough we can sit outside. I’m looking forward to spending a couple of hours with her, she makes me laugh and always raises my spirits. I haven’t seen her in months due to circs here.
Now to get mt second mug of TIB and read the thread! x
Good morning Mick and all from a cool, bright Burnham on Sea. The temperature later is forecast to reach 20°. We are spending today with my friend I believe she has booked lunch at a local hostelry. I must call somewhere en route to get her something nice for her garden.
Yesterday was very enjoyable, especially for Crazy dog, he thoroughly enjoyed running on the massive beaches and dunes here.
R&L when my husband was initially diagnosed every little step forward was 2 weeks apart. Why they can’t order all the tests and meetings at once is beyond me. Hopefully your answers will come soon.
Thinking of all with cares, sadness, and ill health. Take care.
Good morning all from a cloudy and chilly North Leicestershire.
As it was so sunny yesterday we decided to have lunch at the marina but it was so windy we opted to eat inside.
Today I am off for a pedicure and a good catch up on village news - both equally important! Se have a Sainsbury's delivery at teatime and a friend is dropping in some spreadsheets for DH to look at. She is still involved in a joint business with her ex husband and feels all is not as it appears.
Have the best day possible everyone.
Good morning from a bright but not yet sunny Suffolk. I’m off to my stretch class soon and then I’ll need to pop to the shops near the village hall where my class is held.
I’ve a parcel to collect for DD2’s birthday next week which needs to go in the post today probably. Although we always ask the children what they want for their birthday and Christmas presents, they seem now to be as bad as we are at suggesting things!
I hope today is a good one for all.
Good morning from chilly Leicestershire.
Will need to pop down to TKMaxx today to pick up some socks I ordered online. Will also pick up something in M&S as it is free parking if you spend £5. I hope it continues as it is an NCP car park.
This afternoon I am taking a friend, who has had an operation on her foot, out.
The pictures of the nails downloaded for me Bellasnana. They are beautiful. My DD has gorgeous nails, I just stick to clear shiny!
I am sorry you are being kept in limbo RosesandLilac. I found that once they have decided at the MDT meeting what they are going to do things move pretty fast. The waiting is horrid.
Hope your DH has arrived safely Ashcombe and wishing everyone the best day possible.
Good morning everyone from mid Essex. The cloud is just breaking up to show blue sky, so another sunny day today. Yesterday was sunny all day but with a cool easterly breeze.
Yoga was challenging as usual, but my back felt better afterwards. I met a friends daughter on the way home and had a nice chat with her.
I did some washing and it dried very quickly outside. Also carried on with the battle of the weeds. I hope my neighbour will cut the grass in the back garden today, if he doesn’t I’ll do it tomorrow.
I’m planning to go to the garden centre today, I need some compost and weed killer and a few plants to go where there are some bare patches.
bellasnana your nails look lovely.
greyduster it’s five years since my DH died and despite numerous attempts, I think my landline and broadband accounts still show him as the main account holder. My name is also on the account and that seems to be the only way that BT can cope with the situation!
sar I hope your DH recovers quickly from the treatment on his head. I’ve spent hours in Costa’s in hospitals over the years, a useful waiting room!
Have the best day possible everyone, with some sunshine for us all.
Good morning from a very sunny Black Country
Arrived home from a couple of days in Malvern yesterday, had a day at the Spa Hotel there. A really relaxing day, the pool was so warm it was like getting in a bath! You could also swim outdoors.
Then a meal that evening in the town. I think MrJ enjoyed his birthday present!
Walk today with my group who meet at the local country park. My friend who shares lifts with me cannot make it was she messaged yesterday to say she fell in the garden and fractured her wrist in 2 places! Apparently her daughter is coming over to stay for a couple of days.
Lovely nails Bellas I never have the patience to sit long enough to have mine done!
Wishing you all the best day possible
Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s a dry bright start to the day, sunshine in the forecast
Lovely nails Bellas
I’ve another volunteering session this afternoon to look forward to, nothing much else planned so I’ll get some gardening done. We’ve just taken our little solar powered water fountain out of the garage and put it in a sunny spot in the garden so it should spring into life today, maybe some birds will come along for a splash
Enjoy your coffee on the patio with the birds Marzipan, it sounds lovely
Well done to your DGS grandmabatty he sounds like a little football star
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐
Morning from a bright S Hants, hopefully we’ve lost the recent wind that was chilly.
Full fibre broadband installed yesterday, all devices now updated and working.
Tesco delivering later, bbq for two tonight, make the most of this weather.
Pretty Bellas.
No, as said, really not good enough R&L.
Have a pleasant day all.
🦩🦩
Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 4° and cloudy. Should brighten up later. Bellasnana your nails are lovely.
Yesterday I busied myself with housework. I hoovered throughout, washed floors and dusted the venetian blinds. In the afternoon I started a small cross stitch project. Dgs1 has been chosen with 6 others from his football club to go to Edinburgh and play against a young Heart's team. He is very excited about it.
Today I will wash the windows and glasswork. I might do some weeding too. I don't expect to see anyone today. Have a good day all.
Good morning from a brightening, calm Cornwall. Yesterday we had gale force winds which made my tall trees dance like mad. At least they stayed upright. More wall painting at my daughter-in-law's today. Yesterday her new carpets were laid and we assembled my grandson's new bed. Such a cosy home for them both. My daughter-in-law was delighted to discover that a nearby building is housing young teenagers in care and they've chatted to her as they pass by. Her background was very unsettled and she's at home among others in the same situation. Also there's a soup kitchen for homeless people across the road so she'll have these people passing her door and will quite naturally chat to them. She's very caring.
Much as I want to bring fruit bushes back from my allotment I've given myself a sensible talking to (the birds here would wreck them) and have decided to just bring my herbs back for old time's sake.
Right now I must get up, late for me, and have my coffee on the patio among the birds.
Good morning, we have sunshine in South Lanarkshire.
I was a busy bee yesterday. Brought out my summer clothes and sorted through them, filling a donation bag as I realised that I hadn’t worn many items for several years. Everything had been washed before going into the storage boxes so I ironed several pairs of trousers and hung them in the wardrobe. One pair was slightly too long so I bit the bullet and hemmed them before putting them away.
I have a free day today so unsure what we’ll do.
Wishing everyone the best day possible.
Good morning, Michael and all GNs from chilly, grey South Yorkshire. Ah’sll need me big coat t’day!
Writers group was not well attended yesterday but we did have a new lady join us. It will be good if she comes back - we need new blood. I came home to a scary email from my broadband provider which required an urgent phone call to sort out. They seemed to be under the impression that the account was still in DH’s name and not mine and had not connected the two, so as it was dormant, they were closing it down! The account has been in my name since he died four years ago! I soothed my nerves by watching a programme on channel 5 with Sam West and Ade Edmonson bird watching in the Norfolk Marshes - somewhere DH and I spent a lot of time, especially at Cley which was featured. It’s a gentle, amusing series and I can’t wait for the next episode when they are on the Somerset Levels.
Walking group this morning, and then lunch with DD.
Have the best day you can, folks.
