This week we set ourselves a rather large gardening challenge on a piece of unclaimed land that borders out property.

We have been up digging out brambles, weeding, strimming, clearing and doing tip runs for 4 days.

We were also out for dinner on Friday and last night.

We weren’t home until 1.30am on Saturday and it was 2.00am this morning, I was driving so didn’t have any alcohol.

Today we have friends coming at 4 for a roast so I’m about to go and do some food prep.

I should feel absolutely done in but strangely I feel great, no back pain or fatigue, I’m a little sorry our project has finished.

I can only think being outside in the sun each day has invigorated me and it’s what I needed!i

I’m curious to know what you mean by ‘unclaimed land’ -

Just a strip of land nobody seems to own, the council don’t maintain it, it is not on the deeds of our property and has been left to go to ruin.

Well done!

Sago it's good of you to take care of a piece of neglected land. Just reading your post about how active you are has made me feel tired 😴

I’ve always believed that energy begets energy.
Added to that sunshine is the best energy booster.

Live in the house for another 12 years and you can claim it for yourself.

I have to confess, I’m jiggered today, having a lazy afternoon but I have another project lined up staring tomorrow!

I am about to go and have a walk and contemplate operation wardrobe!
I’m going to have another cull and get a lot of stuff listed on Vinted.

Oh I do think when we crack on with something and the results are good then that’s rewarding and uplifting. It’s definitely a mind set. Well done. 🌷

Land is always owned by someone.
My Local City Council and electricity company told me less than a year go.

That a street light that wanted fixing in my road was not in their area and did not exist

It had been there since 1965. Housing Association sorted it out with them.

Check with the Land Registry. They should have all records not just house deeds.

There are still small unclaimed strips of land or land whose ownership is lot in the mists of time.

The law also states that if you continuously occupy a piece of land for over 12 years you can apply to be registered as the owner. The law is a bit stricter over this than it used to be, but it is still possible. gov.uk/government/publications/adverse-possession-of-registered-land/practice-guide-4-adverse-possession-of-registered-land

My sister benefitted under the old system. There was a strip of land, about 15 metres wide, owned by the council, that ran between the gardens of houses whose gardens backed onto each other. The council owned the land and, in theory rented it to the house owners, but they never issued any rent demands or did anything to acknowledge their ownership. After 20 years they tried to claim it back, but the owners claimed they had a right to the land as they had all occupied and used the land for 20 years and that the council had never asked for the rent, so had effectively abandoned it. They won.

After 12 yeas

Gardening is definitely invigorating for me. I totally lose myself for hours on end. So relaxing. I always feel great after all that fresh air. But your post really reminded me of something I discovered by chance a few years ago. We went, with 2 friends from way back, to a weekend pop festival. When I came home, I looked and felt 10 years younger! I also looked so happy! I had found my people perhaps, and I felt like a teenager again. Needless to say, we go every year now!!. ;) We even camp, and it has been sunny and hot for the past three years..I might feel differently if it rained though...;)

I find that the sun and longer daylight makes such a difference to my energy levels and mood.

Even taking that into account, your efforts sound tremendous - I'm not sure I'd be up for 4 days hard work, two late nights in a row and then a full roast - well done you!

Operation wardrobe started today, I have listed loads of stuff on Vinted, sold and posted some already.

I discovered I am slimmer than I thought, I had some size 12’s I thought were to small but they fit🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉.
So I have some new additions to my wardrobe.

Tomorrow is the T shirt drawer, charity shop and then gardening.
