How many guys are on here

The men in I'm friends with in our local pub talk about various sports, mainly football and golf, cooking, restaurants, their partners, but more their children, gardening and politics.
Then there’s anything happening in the village, whether it’s new builds, roads being dig up or local shenanigans, aka gossip!
I’ve known some of them around thirty years and am often the only woman in the conversation.
We help each other out a lot and I enjoy their company.

Men talk to men about their dogs, tools, gadgets and DIY projects, sports hobbies, cars and the best route through town to work, weather.

My dog told me this. He has to listen to it.

I wonder why the owners of this site and MN don't start one up for men? There are half a dozen men that pop up on here, but I'm sure that if there was one aimed at them it would be popular and well used.

I heavily suspect there's a darn site more than half a dozen.

I wish they would keep their mysoginy-leaning thoughts to themselves. Why does the testosterone factor have try and monopolise everything in life?

Many of the topics discussed on GN affect men as well as women, I find it interesting to hear the female point of view even if I don't agree with it, in reality it's the political views of some women on GN that I will contest most.

Oreo - I think some "feelings" are discussed via the football thread actually. I know there's some personal messages about "feelings" though because my husband has sent them.

And I also know there's a lot of humour - because he regularly laughs out loud whilst reading or writing on it.
I have maybe just a couple of times laughed out loud on Gransnet.

...But then my husband is obviously a rare and precious gem 😍 - he would not be regularly on a train with a friendly commuter without knowing about them.

Not sure how long you have been on GN TheSunRisesInTheEast but we have had some very strange men on here - maybe because it is seen as a female thread. We have also had female trolls but they tend to stir things up and. Are quite easy to spot.

As I said above, I would love it if there were more men in the general mix - just like real life.

And, just like real life, some of us are busy during the day and don't post much. That is of no relevance.

I just found Grandads' Shed and read through all the threads which are very female dominated. There are very few men posting, and those who do get questioned about their motives, challenged about their opinions and generally not very well received. Despite some posters on GN saying men are welcome, it is not very evident from reading the exchanges, there is a lot of suspicion whenever a man appears and tries to join in, with the exception of Mick who starts every day off with his friendly "good morning", but doesn't post much else throughout the day. He's like a friendly neighbour who you greet in the morning and then you don't see him any more until the next day 😄.

We have a long tradition of males down one end of the room, females the other. Aussie blokes separate themselves out at BBQs at more or less any social gathering. I was horrified when I first came across this but now can see why . Who wants to talk about Aussie Rules, cricket , golf etc? They do.

Unfortunately one or two men have behaved rather oddly on here one called Mickey someone who just wanted to discuss stockings and suspenders, a very strange guy who would dominate threads and cause all sorts of problems.
We then had Australian Benny Hill, now deceased.

Thankfully we do have some real gents on here and you are of course welcome.

A big shout out though for the lovely Mick or Michael that starts the Good Morning thread every day.

If you go to forums on this site you will see a list of the gransnet forums, Grandads shed is one of them.

In my experience, some of the women here are a tad suspicious of why a man would want to be on here as it seems to be a domain of, mainly, women. In fairness, on the odd few times that I have posted, I have been well accepted and well treated, but many of the conversations are heavily female orientated.

Many men prefer male company and male-type conversations. Personally, I am not one of them (even though I like football!)

Interested to see what men actually talk about, I googled "Grandad's Shed" and all I found was furniture shops and signs, no forum 🤔.

Yes, there is an element of that. I have often preferred the company of, and conversations with, women, since I was quite young - in a platonic way may I add - for the avoidance of doubt!

🤣🤣🤣🤣 Exactly the same as my DH and my DF, my DF committed to London his entire life, he travelled in the same carriage as another commuter, and they exchanged pleasantries, for almost 20 years, my DF knew his name, where he worked and the area in which he lived! That’s it! My DF hated sport so goodness knows what they did discuss, DF didn’t even know if this chap had a wife or children! 🤣🤣

My husband discusses lots of things via a football forum. It's part of "his" club... or maybe it's not but they are all fans.

Not just football talk though.
News, politics, clothes, books, TV/film...
Not sure he discusses clothes to be honest!

And, I wish women wouldn't talk as though this site is exclusively for females saying things like 'Morning Ladies' and 'What do you other ladies think?' Etc.
