If you like to hang up a basket or two do you find yourself doing the same colours/plants each year or do you shake things up a bit?
I have north facing red brick where my baskets will hang so usually plant up with begonia' Illumination' or sometimes buy a couple of mixed fushias and fillers from the 2 lovely guys at their little garden center, so much choice!
This is the time of the year when I so long for a green house that I could pop!

I always opt for trailing Pelargoniums, as they don’t require so much watering and survive if we’re away for a few days.
So not much help, sorry.

I used to do my own with fuchsias and petunias but in recent years I bought them ready done from the garden centre. I'm afraid the cost has risen so much that I really must go back to planting up my own. I love to see houses in Italy covered in geraniums. I might go that way this year.

I’ve just done three baskets and put a mixture of plants in them all. I am going away for two weeks end of May and do have someone who will water for me so will hope for the best. The rest of the pots I will do when I return at the beginning of June. I enjoy doing my own but still works out quite expensive by the time you have bought everything. However the joy of seeing and caring for them makes it all worthwhile.

I can’t do any this year, but last year two had geraniums and trailing lobelia, another two had tumbling Tom tomatoes. Tubs had busy Lizzie.

Hi I love doing my hanging baskets. I choose different colours each year. Usually begonias, lobelia petunias whatever takes my fancy at the nursery.
My son and dil want me to make theirs this year but the front of their house faces north, I’m thinking begonias and Bizzie lizzie would be ok. Does anyone have any more ideas ?

I tried planting my own when I first moved here due to the previous owner leaving several brackets- they look great but boy were they difficult to water!

Now I hang ornaments off them!

It's a few years since I did mine!
It's not laziness -it's just that I have far too many potted plants to care for .
I've cut them down by about 40 % and still have well over a hundred .
In the past , I've planted my mother's hanging baskets with miniature roses ,fuchsia ,lobelia ,pelargonium and ivy.
The ivy gives a fantastic trailing effect .
I put my cold used tea bags on the compost when watering them
They conserve some of the water .
Do enjoy them .
