Has anyone else watched Wuthering Heights 2026 on sky? I was hugely disappointed. It was very loosely based on the classic by Emily Bronte but that was the only connection. Just an excuse for gratuitous sex. They even changed Catherine Earnshaw's hair to blonde! I kept watching hoping it would get better. It didn't! I watched the original black and white version on TV when I was young and I was enthralled. My mother pointed to the book in our bookcase and I read it along side watching the TV version which was as close to the original story as you could get. However I doubt he 2026 version would ever inspire anyone to read the book! What do other Gransnet ladies (and gents) think?

I’ve seen all the film versions of this book (Timothy Dalton being my favourite Heathcliff) but this sounds too smutty for my liking so I won’t be watching it.

Do you remember one version where all the characters speech was mumbled, the actual colour was just grey or variations thereof. Also, the lighting was very poor. I think I watched about five minutes and gave up.

I live in Bronte country and very close to where some of the scenes were filmed. In particular the scene where Kathy is pleasuring herself at the Bridestones. I’m not sure that I will ever be able to walk there again without remembering that scene.
That piece of land has been bought by a collective and my partner owns a small piece as part of this. So it’s very local to me.
Having said that, I enjoyed it enormously. Hebden Bridge small but beautiful cinema was packed every night for a week with people watching it.
It was fun.

It’s funny because we were on about Timothy dalton, about favourite bond characters, then next thing he was all over YouTube. It’s like the tv Is listening to my conversations 😳

Love both Haworth & Hebden Bridge 😊

Turned off after 15 minutes. Sorry, but found the kids really irritating 🥴. Though Martin Clunes looked promising.
Daft casting. I like both Jacob Eldridge and Margot Robbie but they were just wrong.

I started to watch but after about 15mins turned off it was boring and very loosely based in the story.

We saw this at the cinema and I think I commented at the time on here that I thought it was Disney Princess meets Bronte- laughable and annoying. Not for us.
