Has anyone else done anything as daft as this?

Went to choir last night but another event was taking place at the venue we use. Decided it wasn't on because our concert was on last week and choir leader must be having a break. Went to art class this morning - nobody there. Checked my phone and discovered it was Wednesday not Thursday - choir tonight, art tomorrow.

About 20 years ago I was in Marks and Spencer when I spotted a lady I knew. The lady had her back to me so I gently tapped her shoulder and said 'hello Maude'. The smiling lady turned to face me . She wasn't the lady I knew but she said 'we don't know each other, but my name is Maude '.

Many years ago, before strict legislation was brought in, all the taxis in our town were all old rust buckets. I once booked a taxi and asked it to wait outside my workplace. I jumped in the back and gave the driver my address. The driver looked at me horrified as it was a private car!

Didn't really notice until a sharp-eyed colleague pointed it out.

Oh Gwyllt, I had to laugh! That’s worse than forgetting a car. Good job you didn’t live in the States, probably worth a prison sentence, well it would now!b

I was merrily (ha ha) mowing the lawn on Friday and musing about what to have for tea when I suddenly thought “ Gosh it’s Friday!” I was supposed to take my car for its M.O.T. on Friday morning! Luckily they were able to rebook it for Monday and it isn’t due until Tuesday. I am going to drive it up tonight and put the keys through the letterbox.

I did this with navy court shoes from M&S, identical, but with different heel heights.
I thought I had had a stroke!

I nipped to the shops in the car one day, left the car in car park behind shops, walked home, then realised I had left the car, so had to walk back to where I left it. but of course there was a neighbor sitting on his front step ,shouted over as I went passed
did you forget to bring the car home.

Yep, done exactly the same - but in my twenties, so no excuse!

EkwaNimity I did that when I was in my 40's. On the bus returning home after work I looked in the direction of my usual car park and I remembered....I had gone to work in my car!!!

Dh and I had tickets for a concert at the Festival Hall. Arrived in plenty of time, but had trouble finding the correct auditorium. (For anyone unfamiliar, it’s a huge venue.) We once thought we’d found it, but there was evidently a rehearsal going on.

Eventually we asked a couple of staff, who looked at our tickets.

Er, right date, wrong year!! We were a whole year early!
We had to laugh, too.
Had a drink on the balcony overlooking the river, a riverside walk, and headed home.

Laughed out loud at a couple of these! Yes we all do strange and wonderful things sometimes! It can make life interesting also!

Fallingsrar I once got into the wrong car. Same make and colour as ours with a gentleman sitting waiting in the driver's seat. He looked startled when I landed on the seat next to him!

Nearly done that twice. I've done loads of the stuff on and off...above (just not leaving the pram), and think Fallingstar what nice neighbours. Nosy, but kind.

Life is more interesting this way. 😊

It depends how old you are, too. With white hair and a pleasant smile people usually smile back and are helpful. No point trying to be other than you are.

In my early days as a TA some years ago, the teacher explained to the pupils that they needed to measure 150ml of liquid.
My charge and I looked at the equipment. The 150ml tubes were all in use so we waited until other pupils had completed the experiment.
The teacher asked what we were waiting for. I explained the issue. He looked me in the eye and said, “perhaps you could use two 100ml tubes?”
I don’t think I’ve ever felt more embarrassed. Before or since.

EkwaNimitee. As a new mum more years ago than I care to remember. I left the pram and the dog outside a local shop. I can out untied the dog and walked home. Nearly home my neighbour asked me who was at home with the baby. I ran back quickly to find baby still fast asleep in his pram

Years ago, I drove homewards from work and parked on street outside our little town’s supermarket where I went in for a few items. Out I came and walked the roughly quarter mile to our house where I was astonished to find my car not on the drive.
For an awful moment I thought it had been stolen, then the penny dropped! I definitely thought I was on way to losing my marbles.

I'm fortunate to still have all my marbles too. But life has been rather busy at times during the last few months, buying and selling houses, organising works that needed doing on my new home. Creating a new garden etc etc. I'm 83 and managed everything on my own. So I'd say that's the reason for the occasional blip. At least it's given me something to smile about.

But this thread is very entertaining 😁

I must have more marbles than I thought I had because nothing like that has happened to me.

I do the wrong car thing quite often. Also wander off with other people's shopping trolleys. I've also got /stayed on the wrong trains sometimes, can lead to quite a panic trying to get back to our home station. I once took my toddler son to work instead of playgroup & we've turned up at school on in-service days.

I also went to the practical exam instead of the theory paper ( held 10 minutes' run away) as it was a retake & I was the only one doing it, didn't realise for a while I was in the wrong place. Luckily I scraped through my paper despite starting 20 minutes late.

I went to a hospital for an appointment last week. Waited patiently for reception to set up then approached the desk.
It was pointed out that I was 1 week early. Oh dear it was an early appointment so I needed to be up very early to get to the hospital. Never mind I made the same journey yesterday and did attend on the correct date.

I do things like this quite often. Would be an exhaustive list but the worst is when I arrived home quite late from seeing friends one night a good few moons ago and was surprised to discover the front door open was just about to have a go at my husband when my neighbour put the hallway light on and I realised I was in her house. She was creased up with laughter, the door was open to let her visiting son back in, he had been doing her bins and seen me go inside. He was creased up with laughter as well.
I had to tell my DH because was sure my neighbour would, in fact it was all over the neighbourhood be the end of the next day, and for a long time neighbours would joke ‘we’d better lock our doors tonight, you never know who might wander in’.

I booked theatre tickets well in advance to see Tim Vine in Norwich. Morning of the show I checked the time and date. All correct. Went to Norwich early to have a meal. Casually strolled into theatre and was just going up to our seats in the circle, when an announcement came over saying to take your seats as the performance of Macbeth will be starting shortly. I thought it was Tim Vine having a laugh until my husband checked the tickets and found we were at the wrong theatre! It should have been in Lowestoft. Back we go to the car and hightail it down to Lowestoft. When we explained what had happened, how the staff laughed! We were only about 15 minutes late and when we explained to the people we disturbed getting to our sets, they laughed as well. I'm just glad we hadn't gone to our seats at Norwich as I would have have been very argumentative with the people whose seats they were. Now my husband checks all tickets! Just in case!
