Fitted sheets

I fit the sheet around myself rather than the bed.
I find it easier. Bit like a pie crust. I'm the pie.

I bought IKEA king size fitted flowery sheets for a double bed.
Because they are dark background I’m always clean, wear pyjamas and slippers etc., I washed them on 40deg, as opposed to 60deg. hung them on the washing line.
They still shrank. One side fits perfectly, the other curves upwards. They are meant to be deep but not any more.
I now fit two identical sheets one on top of the other which camouflages this effect.

I have considered flat large cotton sheets, an alternative as
elasticated corners take a while to dry, then the struggle to haul them into place as described, these fitted sheets which I believed would make bed making easier.

I've been looking on Amazon reviews as well, as i don't want anything that's too hot to sleep on either.

I buy sk for my king size bed & king for my double as I was fed up with shrinking sheets. Now both are a perfect fit.
M & S sheets I should add.
I also use a top sheet tucked in at the bottom with added pleat so that I have room to put my feet straight up.

Flat sheets and do hospital corners? My fitted MS/Tesco/Debenhams sheets do shrink after a while and the elastic loses its ping. Maybe I wash them a bit hot or the sunshine dries them out too much.Not much to go wrong with flat sheets even if they shrink a bit.

Well, our valance glides. It really has a mind of its own.

One side disappears and the other side drapes across the floor. Very strange. It's just an ordinary cotton one, Dorma!

I'm sure mine isn't an extra deep mattress, so I'm really not sure what my problem is, but ive still not managed to finish putting a sheet on it.

I habe to do it in installments, and was almost reduced to tears earlier.

MissA, I recently bought a new bed with an extra-deep mattress (37cm) so I had to buy new fitted sheets. I couldn't get the M&S ones I've had before in the colour I wanted so I thought I'd try Cotton Traders for the first time.
Why haven't I found them before? They're brilliant. The corners fit on easily, leaving the surface of the sheet perfectly smooth and taut across the bed - but without the need to 'wrestle' the last corner into place. No broken nails or sprained thumbs and they haven't shrunk in the wash either.Ten out of ten from me.

If anyone hss sheets that glide on, smooth out, and are reasonably priced I'd be grateful for suggestions, please.

I suggested those to DD at the weekend when GS was complaining that the sheets on his three quarter bed at uni wouldn’t stay on the corners. I’ll press the point home!😊

Ive tried those, but my problem seems to be lots of extra, unwanted fabric on the mattress, and still the kind of corners that break my fingers trying to get them on.

I was wondering if perhaps i need to just pay a bit more and buy branded sheets?
I've tried the ones with the deeper base, and that doesnt seem to help.

Get yourself some 'sheet suspenders' - they're elasticated straps which clip onto the sheet and keep them in place. Total game changer.
