Here's a thought .... maybe we grandparents have a use!

My grandsons are 20, 13, and 12, and they all still like me. They even kiss me whether I like it or not! My position as Provider of lifts might have something to do with it.

I see less of my g’dtrs now, about once every three weeks. They are 16 and 18 and both working for exams. They also have their own friends and busy social lives. It’s part of the growing up process. I’m just glad I’m not the one having to worry about where they are and who they’re with.

Feel for you. Our granddaughter is 14 now and has nothing to do with us. It's upsetting. More upsetting is that our daughter thinks it's fine.

Well, I see my 2 teenage grandchildren and we enjoy each others company. DD(not their mother) myself and 19 year old DGD are planning a weekend jaunt to see an exhibition that intersts the three of us. DGS and I, both hyper concentrators, have long conversations replanning and discovering the world.

As for being the best grandmother ever, Oh, no, no, no, no, no.
I am uite sure I am not. I hope when I die my grandchildren remember all the things I did that drove them nuts, as well as all my virtues.

Dont waste your time, I was the best granny in the world, as soon as they became teenagers never saw them again , my only grandaughter didnt even invite us to her grand wedding, nasty very nasty

Homework is for the parents to worry about not Grandparents.

I was the same Luckygirl, and mine are also doing fine!

I had a rule with homework for my children. I would say - have you any homework that needs to be in? - perhaps you should do it now.

And that was it - I just left them to it. They knew they could come to me if they needed any guidance, but they also knew it was their responsibility and if they did not do it they would have to take the rap in school the next day.

I never nagged at them about it. They knew from the start that it was their responsibility.

It worked - maybe I was just lucky with my children!

That's good to know. I don't know about having more patience though. I can get pretty impatient when my granddaughter is very reluctant to start her homework!
