Good morning from, as kitty says, a bright Leicestershire.

Such lovely news this morning, Grandmabatty how delightful that your DS is going to be a dad, Brook enjoy your holiday the Swiss mountains always makes me think of Heidi, great news your DS is coming home Mattie and I love your nails Bellasnana.

Not much happening here today except a wine delivery. I am hoping my plants will revive in the warmth as they have been pretty batteredby the cold nights.

Wishing everyone the best day possible.

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a damp South Yorkshire. Yesterday against the odds, I managed to get laundry dry. Writers group in the afternoon was fun. Our librarian leads a monthly session - the rest of the time we are self-regulating😏. She works hard for us and is always full of ideas. It’s not a session where you can ‘craft’ your work - more fly by the seat of your pants, but it gets the grey cells working.

Both DS, and then GS, rang in the evening - my cup ranneth over.

Today I am supposed to be out with the walking group, but it will depend on what the weather does in the next hour.

Have the best day you can, folks.

Morning Mick, morning All from a brightening corner of Somerset. A much milder day with some sunshine is forecast.

An easy trip back and forth yesterday. Sun was shining as we left, we drove into heavy cloud which had disappeared by the time we reached our destination. Rain greeted us on our return. It seems we travelled the best weather way.

An at home day ahead. Tidying and as little cleaning as we can get away with. Rat-gate continues with seemingly reduced numbers. Our alarm systems are being tested at some point, takes just a few minutes, I’ll oversee ours and also our friends who must be at the hospital for an introduction to her chemotherapy process.

Congratulations to you all grandmab, exciting times ahead.

Safe, trouble free journey brook.

Best wishes to everyone, have the best day you can.

Good morning from Durham. It’s grey, miserable and raining here. I’ll probably miss the gardeners today, as I’m meeting my poorly friend for coffee and cake. She’s a breast cancer survivor, but has had RA for many years. Her hands are almost useless, but she’s now having foot trouble with ulcers needing weekly dressings.
I should get some bedding plants for my front window boxes, but I’ll see how I feel later.

Best wishes to all. X

I’ve been diagnosed with osteoporosis, not really a surprise, but it has taken a day for me to digest.
Onwards - have a pleasant day all.

Good Morning all from a cloudy-so-far central south coast. We are promised sunshine from a bit later on then wall to wall for the next few days. I shall have to get watering the new plants then!

I managed a reasonably comfortable choir rehearsal last night by taking cushions to help with the uncomfortable chairs. Our MD decided one of the pieces in the programme will not be performance ready so will be axed but the other pieces seem to have improved a lot. It is enjoyable to sing when that happens. We have three more rehearsals before the concert on 13 June.

Hopefully a quiet day today apart from the usual chores, and only the Tesco delivery order to finalise for tomorrow, on my to do list. DH will be back on the patio furniture tracking but I am not hopeful of a positive result. He will certainly make sure of a refund if not!

Congratulations on your DS's happy news Grandmabatty. A new baby is such a joyous event and will bring you all much pleasure.sunshine (can you tell I love little babies!)

Kind thoughts to all with troubles or worries and hoping for a gentle day for us all.

Good morning all from a brightening North Leicestershire.

We had a lovely meal in a village restaurant last night. It was so lovely and, up to now, I have had no repercussions.

Today, I am helping at a 'cafe' for people with Mild Cognitive Impairment - always fun.

Have the best day possible everyone.

RosesandLilac Thu 21-May-26 06:49:23

Good morning, it’s rather damp here in south Glos, at least the washing I hung out yesterday morning will be well rinsed 🙄
I had a lovely lunch with my friend, the food was absolutely delicious! We chatted non stop for two hours!
I dropped off a bag of fabric pieces to a lady who lives near me, she teaches crafts at the school and I have said that any bits I don’t need I will give to her. I often have a sort out so it’s good to know where I can donate bits and bobs.
An appointment has come for another CT scan in a couple of weeks, quicker than an MRI Hollysteers but I know how noisy they are. I keep my eyes tightly closed because I’m claustrophobic so MRIs are an ordeal.
I need to get some plants put out in the borders today, so that’s my plan. There’s probably about 20 plus the dahlias that are coming on but I’ll wait until they’re bigger or the slugs will demolish them.
Sausages and mash for dinner 😋, so that’s my day planned!
Best wishes to everyone x

Bellasnana Thu 21-May-26 06:40:05

Grandmabatty congratulations! Delighted to hear you will have another little treasure to love.❤️

Ashcombe Thu 21-May-26 06:35:21

What happy news, Grandmabatty! How lovely that your DS is taking it so seriously!

Ashcombe Thu 21-May-26 06:33:20

Good morning from a bright and sunny one here in La Sarthe! Such a joy to see the sun following so many dreary days.

Great news regarding your DS, grandMattie and I hope his journey goes to plan when the time comes.

Younger friends are such a tonic, Bellasnana!

I’m sorry the nurse wasn’t kind at your scan, hollysteers; they can be nerve-wracking experiences so you’d expect to have supportive staff.

My DS is rejoicing over Aston Villa's success in the Europa Cup Final last night. He has been a loyal fan since childhood so was delighted by the result. They were playing against Freiburg, one of the places we visited on our recent cruise!

Wishing everyone a good day with sunshine, we hope! 🦩💐☀️🥰🦩

Good morning everyone from Inverness where we’ve light grey clouds and it’s dry
How lovely gMattie that you’ll be seeing your DS soon. Same here as we’re off down to Edinburgh later today for an overnight stay before heading off to Switzerland tomorrow to visit DS and partner. We’ll stay with them until Monday and then head off into the mountains for a few days sightseeing and walking. I’m really looking forward to seeing them both
What lovely news grandmabatty, so thrilled for your DS and partner, and you too of course! Exciting times ahead
Beautiful nails Bellas
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Grandmabatty Thu 21-May-26 06:18:33

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 12° and cloudy. I think the forecast is wet and warm. That'll make the weeds explode! Bellasnana your nails are lovely. What a happy meeting with a nice young person. GrandMattie it will be lovely to see your ds again.
Yesterday was a quiet day and I pottered about and rested. I contacted lots of friends by text and they all replied. Today I shall do an hour in the school library and some art work at home.
I have news that I never thought I would have. Im going to be a grandma again! This time it is the partner of my son. It's a fairly new relationship and they were both shocked but are very happy about a forthcoming baby. Ds is thrilled and has signed up for parenting classes. I am also happy for them. Very unexpected!

Sar53 Thu 21-May-26 06:14:14

Good, very early, morning from the Essex coast.
I have lots on my mind and am finding it very hard to get a good night's sleep 😴.
This morning I have an appointment with the hygienist then a top up shop.
Later I have more admin to do, it never seems to end.
At least the weather is looking good for the Bank Holiday weekend 😎.
Wishing you all a pleasant day, best wishes to all xx

Bellasnana Thu 21-May-26 06:10:04

Dearest grandMattie, your hands do a great many more useful things than mine. I wish I had your skills at producing beautiful things (and delicious ones!)🤗

grandMattie Thu 21-May-26 06:05:17

I shouldn’t be envious of your lovely nails but I am, bellas. I have ghastly, small, stubby hands, quite at odds with me being tall. Having nails done like yours would only emphasise them… 😢

Bellasnana Thu 21-May-26 06:01:14

Good morning from Malta where it’s sunny, the wind has dropped and the high is forecast to reach 28°C.

Yesterday, before going to my nail appointment, I noticed a request on one of the local recycle sites asking if anyone had any sheets/duvets to give away. I have a lot which are no longer used but in good condition so I replied that she was welcome to have a look and see if anything was suitable.

I enjoyed my nail appointment, chatting with the sweet nail technician is like therapy, she’s lovely and I’ve been going to her for over ten years and she never disappoints (photo in case you’re interested 😄)

I did a quick trip to Lidl then back home where at 3pm the young lady from the morning turned up. She is here from Brazil and is working but has come to improve her English (which is already very good). She picked out what she wanted then I made us a coffee and we chatted for a while.

She FaceTimed her parents in Brazil to introduce me! How sweet. She is 30 years old, looks 19 and absolutely beautiful. I gave her a lift home as there was no way she could have struggled on the bus.

She asked if we could meet again which will be lovely. So one of life’s unexpected blessings came my way just when I needed it, I’ve been feeling so down this week after the debacle on Saturday with the boys witnessing my fall,

grandMattie, hooray! I’m so happy to hear your son will be coming back soon. Some good news for you and a joy to look forward to.🤗

No plans for today other than some housework. Dust removal, floors and front steps being the main targets!

Hope all our holdaymakers are enjoying their breaks, best wishes to the all, especially those carrying the worries of the world on their shoulders. ☀️

hollysteers Thu 21-May-26 05:56:39

Good morning from a damp northwest coast.
I had an MRI scan yesterday at the local hospital for my painful neck and shoulder administered by a very grumpy nurse. The bangings and clatterings as the machine does its job seem designed to drive one crazy, so I went through a couple of songs I am memorising to detach myself.

A quiet day here after that and didn’t go to the opera co rehearsal in the evening as still not feeling one hundred percent. I’m glad to have an ‘empty’ today too.

Thoughts to all🌺

grandMattie Thu 21-May-26 05:15:19

Good morning from Bristol. It has rained during the night. Today? Who knows? It certainly is less cold. Perhaps the bank holiday won’t be wet. 💦
I was having breakfast when my phone rang. It was DS to let me know when he was coming home for the summer holidays. He’s anxious about all the flight cancellations and would prefer not to be stranded in Nairobi. Anyway, iwas thrilled to hear from him!
FAB cafe went well, although it was a bit quieter than usual.
The ladies’ guild meeting in the afternoon was fine, The speaker had called off that morning, and the organiser managed to get a lovely young woman, physiotherapist, to come at short notice. She talked mostly about “falls”, about balance.
The organiser said that, at a pinch, she would have asked me to talk about my background. I said that had no experience, but if push came to shove, I could….
I was very tired, but gladdened by my free flowers. The manager of our local mini Tesco has become very friendly and often gives me the out of date flowers. This week it was sweet Williams!
Today is full. Glasses to be straightened, nurse appointment, t’ai chi, and dinner at DD’s.
I hope things are working out for you all. 🐦‍🔥 Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩
