Good morning and we’re in for a warm one.
When I did school pick yesterday, it had turned very warm and the short walk home drained us. 🥵. How the weather can change so quickly.

Today we have my surrogate’ daughter’s father visiting. He messaged me out of the blue and said he’d like to come and see us. Not a very sociable man with little conversation so with him and Dh it’s going to be rather hard work for me keeping the chat alive. 🫨.

Gd has her school fun day, this is instead of sports day now. (Too much competition 🙄). She’s going to her sisters in Southampton for a few days , so is excited about that.

I’ll get the fans down and try to keep cool.

I know I’m in the minority but really hate the heat.
Enjoy the sun those who love it. ☀️

Good morning everyone from a very bright and sunny 🌞 Northampton, and more of the same forecast for the next week!

Yesterday was quite overcast and windy. I went with DD to her.riding lesson before returning home, having spent the night at DD's.
She hosted a lovely wine evening on Wednesday with delicious food and chilled white.wine.
It was chilly at the stables but luckily they.have a little cafe, and I gave in to a cappuccino and sausage butty! I then watched the last 15 minutes of DD's lesson and had a chat with her instructor, reminiscing about Singapore where we had both lived.
Then home where I had to wait in for a phone call from the clinical pharmacist at my surgery to review my various medications - luckily all went well.

Dance classes this morning as usual, then I may.get out in the garden for a while.

So sorry to hear sad news about your hairdresser Bellasnana, I am sure you will find the right words.
Oh dear grandMattie I can imagine your distress when you received the worrying news from the nurse, but I am sure you will cope, as you normally do.

Wishing all a pleasant day.

Good morning everyone from Lancashire.
I'd be furious too, GrandMattie! I've recently been diagnosed with high cholesterol. Like you, I'm careful with diet and I'm very active. It's most miffing, isn't it?

Yesterday's tea out with my friends was enjoyable both for the food and the company. We taught together at a tiny village school that became victim of a local authority reorganisation. We vowed to keep in touch and 25 years later we still meet up on a regular basis.

We'll be packing up the car to head off to Anglesey later.
We need to take the little chap to family contact. It's an hour's drive away, off the M56, so we will do that and then drive on rather than come home.
Fingers crossed the A55 isn't too busy with it being the start of a BH weekend and the start of half term.

Wishing you all the best day possible. 🌻

Good Morning all from a lovely sunny and warm central south coast. I had to get up to open my bedroom window in the night as it had warmed up so much. Hopefully, my arthritic joints will enjoy the warmth.

DH had a tussle with the patio furniture complaints line yesterday but his persistence paid off and he got a refund through PayPal and the missing order was cancelled. I had already found a suitable, if not better option from a different supplier, so he ordered that and it is due to be delivered on 27th. Fingers crossed.

He is out for a coffee and cake cycle ride this morning, with his club and I have a Tesco delivery to restock the fridge. I shall also be watering the new plantings which are settling in nicely. The roses are in bloom and looking as beautiful as roses do. They are my favourite flowers.

So sorry to hear about your diabetes GM. Two of my siblings have type 2, including my big brother who has had amputations to his toes and now his foot as a result. It seems we all have to cope with some health issues as we get older and things start to not work as they did. I am sure you will manage this issue as well as you do all the vicissitudes you have endured. flowers

Thinking as always of all our friends with troubles or worries of any kind and hoping for some comfort and ease today. sunshine

Good morning from South Lanarkshire.

Lovely news for you and your family Gandmabatty, I’m so pleased for you.

Congratulations to your GS Glammagran

Bellasnana, poor woman, sending good wishes for her.

Sorry to hear about your diagnosis Mattie, I’m sure you will do all the right things to manage it.

The last couple of days have been fairly busy with one thing or another, the weeks just seem to fly past, here we are at Friday again! Oddly though it seems a very, very long time since Christmas, so strange.

The children were all in good humour yesterday, the eldest has definitely matured over the past year, they were a pleasure to be with.

This afternoon I’m helping to set up the church hall for our Sunday Café. Friends have invited us over this evening so that will be enjoyable. Even though I retired years ago I still think of Fridays as being the end of the working week.

Wishing everyone the best day possible.

Good morning all from Morecambe Bay where a pleasant day weatherwise is promised. DS3 has gone back home and normality can resume for a time. An early visit to the osteopath then I will investigate what 2 weeks away has done to the garden.
I’m sorry to hear your diagnosis GM it must have been quite a shock to you as you were only saying the other week how good your health was. Frustrating when you already follow a healthy diet.
Wishing everyone a good day. Take care🌸

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. A warm day of 25 degrees is promised.

We are off early to our nearby town. We will have breakfast and then attend an Arts Society talk on Holbein.

Not sure about the rest of the day. I have to see my friend over the road and I should get on with a massive collage I’ve been working on.

I hope we hear from our missing posters. Have a good day.

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 13° with some cloud. There's been rain recently. I don't think Scotland is to be as warm as elsewhere this weekend. GrandMattie that's annoying for you. I am type 2 diabetic and it's partly genetic- my father and his aunt had it. Could it be a factor? Bellasnana poor lady.
Thank you all who expressed good wishes yesterday about the baby. I've known for ages as he told me very early because he was so excited. The poor girl has had dreadful sickness which fortunately is lessening now. Life works in mysterious ways, doesnt it? I thought i had lost him up till last year and here we are!
I did an hour and a half in the school library yesterday and then pottered at home.
Today dd and I are going to a very nice restaurant in Stirling for afternoon tea. It was a Christmas gift which needs used. Ds is going to join us to tell his sister his news. Dinner will be soup I think. Enjoy your day.

Good morning from. bright, sunny and warm S E Essex I think spring has finally sprung 🌞🌞🌞

Sports day was good fun yesterday, by the time the youngest children’s events started after lunch it was very warm, and they were getting hot and bothered.

Oh that’s a nuisance grandMattie , are you going straight on to medication or a change of diet?

Sad news Bellasnana and a difficult time ahead for the poor lady.

Enjoy the weather 🙋‍♀️

Good morning from the NE where it is dry after overnight rain.
I was woken by the heating switching on.
Yesterday's appointment with the GP didn't give me any answers, all my blood results were normal but I still feel unwell.
My elder sister flew back to Germany yesterday, she has assisted travel through all 3 airports but it wasn't up to scratch this time.
Younger sister and BIL are off on holiday today to celebrate their wedding anniversary on Tuesday.
DD is travelling to Canada for work and SIL is going with her, lucky him, I never got to travel with my DH when he travelled the world.
It is going to be a noisy weekend, the Radio 1 show is in a local park.
Have a good Bank Holiday weekend.

Greyduster Fri 22-May-26 06:29:56

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire where it is set to be 25 degrees.

Our walking group yesterday had a lovely walk around a section of the woods we hadn’t been to before. Our leader usually takes the bigger group. We just blindly followed him and if he had disappeared into thin air we would still be wandering round trying to find our way back to the meeting point. The wood is 360 acre. It was not until I spotted the miniature railway centre on the outer fringe that I realised how far we had walked but it was so much more enjoyable than the walk we usually do. I had lunch afterwards with DD where we discussed her plans for the new raised area they have created in their garden. In the late afternoon I did some more “hands and knees” work in my garden.

Gym this morning, a visit to the garden centre on the way home and then - not a lot.

Have the best day you can, folks.

Good morning from a bright and sunny Sarthe. Yesterday we ate lunch and dinner in the garden, making the most of the sunshine.

The birds are still visiting the feeder and the other day I was delighted to see a greater spotted woodpecker on the fat balls! I’ve never seen one at such close quarters. A special moment! We regularly hear a distant cuckoo - it does make a change from the noisy seagulls in my home town.

It must have been a shock regarding the diabetes, grandMattie! I hope advice was offered about the way forward. A few years ago I was told I was pre-diabetic but nothing came of it.

Sad news regarding your hairdresser, Bellasnana; I’m sure you will find the words to support her today because of the kind person you are.

Yesterday, we shopped in Lidl where I can use the loyalty App on my phone to access the special deals as I do at home. Besides having five euros taken off the total, I was given a free bottle of fizz as a birthday present!

Happy weekend, everyone! 🦩🥰🦩💐🦩

RosesandLilac Fri 22-May-26 05:44:05

Oh grandMattie, that’s so frustrating being diagnosed with type 2 when you don’t have any predisposing factors 🤗

Bellasnana Fri 22-May-26 05:43:04

Good morning from Malta where the forecast is for a sunny day with a high of 30°C.😎

Had a visit from my treasures yesterday which was lovely although they didn’t stay long as they were off for their weekly swimming lesson. DGS2 is very pleased with himself as he can swim without armbands now.

DD3 gave me worrying news about our mutual friend and hairdresser who went for a colonoscopy on Saturday which revealed a tumour. I haven’t slept all night worrying about her. She’s only 43 and what is more, her poor sister has only just finished chemo for a lymphoma near her heart. Life can be so unfair.😞

I have a hair appointment at noon and it is going to be difficult but I will do my best to be supportive. I’m very fond of the lass, we can talk about anything and she’s a lovely soul.

I’m having the boys this afternoon as DD3 has her nails. (Thanks to all for your kind comments about mine yesterday).

So sorry to hear of your diagnosis grandMattie. I trust it is treatable and won’t have a detrimental effect on you.💐

Best wishes to you all and hoping for a good day.☀️

RosesandLilac Fri 22-May-26 05:41:08

Good morning, a lovely start to the day here in south Glos, I hope there’s a pleasant breeze to temper the heat today.
I was given 4 tomato plants yesterday, I must get on with finishing the planting today, I didn’t get much done yesterday.
I have a big pot of bolognaise sauce to portion out and freeze, it’s been cooking slowly overnight in the slow cooker 😋
I cracked off half a tooth last night eating a biscuit so I need to phone the dentist. It’s not painful or visible so there’s no rush to get it sorted ……is there?
So, I plan an hour doing gardening things first today then I will take the rest of the day as it comes.
I hope today goes well for you all x
🌹

grandMattie Fri 22-May-26 05:33:11

Good morning from a clear, dawning Bristol.
Yesterday was less enjoyable. I had an appointment with the nurse who told me I had type 2 diabetes! I am absolutely furious as I’m not overweight, I take lots of exercise as I don’t have a car, I cook everything from scratch and have a good diet - no, I don’t eat lots of my baking! It is yet another generous gift from Anno Domini apparently. 🤬
I did go into the town centre together some stuff. I tried to get a book which I saw reviewed in the paper, but it would appear that it hasn’t yet been published. I had hoped to get it for DS’ birthday in July. I shall persist.
Dinner at DD’s was as usual, although we ate outside as it was suddenly so mild. An hour earlier, it was distinctly cool, overcast, etc., when I got the bus, then it turned warm.
We are due to have a heatwave over the bank holiday weekend, which is a welcome change!
Spanish this morning, then I may garden - tidy up a bit really.
Enjoy your long weekend and the sudden warming/sunshine.
🐦‍🔥 Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩❤️🦩
