Disappearing contributers

Yes, communication is difficult when it seems that half of us are in the dark on the issues and personalities frequently being mentioned. Sometimes it feels as though people are speaking in code.

However, the fact that someone has been, apparently, unjustly banned is something we can all get behind and argue for clarity and, hopefully, second thoughts on the part of the mods.

Sorry, but again, I have no idea who you mean. I would like to see Allira back, and am happy to argue for that; but it feels increasingly as though I know nothing of what has gone on, so I'm not sure what (or whom) I'm arguing against, if you see what I mean?

It's not a matter of 'cloak and dagger secrecy', it's a matter of confidentiality.

When an employer disciplines or dismisses an employee, they are under no obligation to discuss it with other employees. In reality, staff will often find out eventually through the grapevine, but confidentiality responsibilities prevent employers from broadcasting HR business.

Forums are no different. A certain level of confidentiality still applies. What goes on behind the scenes is a matter between the owners / mods and the member in question.

Any information put forward to other members is entirely at the discretion of those running such forums.

It would obviously be nice to know what happened and why, but unfortunately, being given that information isn't a right, even though it would be nice to have it.

But what if the information you’ve been given isn’t true?
I have seen the reasons given to Allira and they aren’t true.
Being accused of posting goady posts. I think you can tell by these 36 pages of support that that is not the case.
controlling threads Many of us here know who likes to control threads and it’s certainly not Allira.
Returning under another name when you were banned under your previous username. Not true, and surely the powers that be could produce that email where they banned her.
Non was forthcoming.

petra I agree with every word and your comments about controlling posts is spot on. They know who they are and they must also know why they do what they do.

One problem springs to mind.
If you know, or think you know who reported you, and multiple reports can mean a ban, that effectively means you can’t post on any threads the reporter starts or holds forth on, risky, even if you start a thread.

I think butterandjam is right, we have to be realistic, and shouldn’t expect a detailed explanation of what is considered right and wrong by the mods, we already have the guidelines, and we have to interpret them ourselves, as users of all social media platforms do.

We, and they, need to focus on Allira’s specific circumstances and they will I’m sure be crawling through the evidence on that. If they confirm she has been targeted, they will take action against the perpetrator. I hope they come back soon to update with some favourable news for Allira.

Urmstongran wasn't banned either, that was the rumour.
She was absent at the same time for ages, trying to connect with GNHQ. I'll leave her to explain all the goings on.
What I'm saying is there were a lot of problems, misunderstandings, untoward reportings etc. It would take Sherlock a week to go through them all. 🕵️‍♂️
But some of us were deleted and removed and despite emails sent, couldn't get any response. No banning notifications were given, no explanatios, no real reasons. One poster no longer on GN.
Allira did receive a clear banning notification this time round.
I can't say any more, except it's worth GNHQ looking into.

GN knows who reported Allira.

If GN care, some competent literate person will now be going through the posting history of both Allira and whoever reported her with a fine tooth comb, looking for patterns of behaviour that shed some light. With that evidence, they would reconsider the decision by the moderator and do what's right.

That's the best case scenario.

I'll be pleased if it happens but not surprised if nobody bothers to get off their arse because SM forums are a fickle, superficial and transitory medium to work in.

Crikey, I missed the banning of Urmstongran. She was such a nice open and friendly person. Can’t imagine her being offensive.

From what you say MartavTaurus it would appear 'due diligence' wasn't applied if there was removal of a large number of posters at one time. I suppose this is what some of us suspect/fear, that the procedures aren't necessarily carried out with true fairness, but have a rather arbitrary element .

The previous "banning" episode can be easily explained for sure, because several posters like myself, and Urmstongran of old, can come on board to say what happened to us all at the time - we were removed, we were ostracised, we were sent to Coventry, but we were never told we were banned, but that is how it was interpreted. We couldn't get back in, but I think I'm right in saying we were never sent any proper banning notification. I'm happy to offer GNHQ dates on all that kerfuffle if it helps to clear Allira.
Perhaps we were ALL suspended back then and under investigation, I don't know, but that sounds a bit far fetched.
Allira does not control the threads, she does not write goady posts.

Do you think Allira may have been given a more lenient suspension rather than a ban after consideration?
She may have been told to keep quiet about and may just appear in several weeks? Is this just being hopeful.

I expected to be in trouble for publicly stating that it was Allira who'd been banned. I couldn't understand the pussy footing around and mentioning no names. I'm still here though. So far so good but still no Allira.

I think that we have got to 36 pages and there are no deleted posts at least none that I've seen is an achievement.

I have the sense of a brick wall that we are banging our heads against. 🦧🦧🦧
