Good morning from a lovely Suffolk where it feels cooler and fresher. The rain forecast to be passing over East Anglia in the night bypassed us so I’m about to wield the hose before the sun reaches those parts of the garden with pots and flower beds.

I had a great time with my friends for lunch yesterday up the coast where there was a gentle sea breeze and everywhere was very busy apart from, unusually, the pub car park. Gingster we weren’t at Dunwich but the Jolly Sailors!

Ironing seems to be a feature of today’s posts and I’ll join in with the need to do a pile.We are going on holiday on Saturday so needs must.

I hope Marydoll that your efforts to get an appt for your DH are successful and all have a good day in a less intense heat. I’m off to keep fit which will be a gentle class I think since the average age of the participants must be well over 70.

Good morning all from the Scottish Highlands where it's a chilly 9° and I'm back in bed with a cuppa.

My friend took me to some of her favourite places yesterday. The old church at Nigg which holds one of the most important Pictish standing stones. We crossed on the wee ferry to Cromarty and hoped to see the Hugh Millar museum but a lot of places are still closed. Never mind, the village is very pretty and the ice cream was welcome on such a warm day. That's Hugh on his column.
A large dolphin or was it a whale leapt up in front of me on the ferry home. Glorious!

I hope you get that consultation for DH Marydoll 🤞

Thoughts are with those struggling today.

Good morning all from a cooler North Leicestershire.

DH has a gym session this morning, our cleaner will be here and I am going to iron - possibly! I have to ring a stone mason for the wall too. We are planning to go to a cafe by a lake for lunch.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Jaxjacky Wed 27-May-26 07:16:20

Morning, 19 and bright sun in S Hants. Ouch * Roses* I hope your leg isn’t too sore.
A wilting day yesterday, similar today, I’d love a storm, it’s unlikely though. Consequently little was done, today will be similar, we must water late tonight and an easy quiche with salad tonight.
Cypriot potatoes are in, we both love them, so a few of them too.
Have a pleasant day all.

Good morning from Cornwall where it's snowing. Well, I'm allowed to dream. 😂 I sat on a bench by the river yesterday and a fresh wind brought the tang of the sea with it, which was welcome and lovely. Afterwards I had curry for lunch in Wetherspoons before I finally hunkered down at home, emerging again at 6o'clock to swing on my patio seat and watch the bees that have discovered my pyracantha, having exhausted my echium. An orange-tip butterfly made a quick visit but found nothing to interest him. My resident gulls have made a tucked-away nest beside a defunct chimney pot, which means I won't be woken at 3am by their rattling on my high kitchen window. Phew.

My daughter-in-law took this photo of the moon with her mobile phone, amazing.

Today my 10-year-old granddaughter is coming for the day. She likes to stay in and be quiet as her home life is non-stop but we'll venture out on to the patio at some point.

Good morning from a cooler Stockport.
Currently 15 degrees, it was in the 20’s at this time yesterday.
Like any of you I am sure, I had a bad night with the heat in spite of the fan on .
I also drank lots of water yesterday inevitably leading to more than usual bathroom visits.
I didn’t see or speak to anyone apart from resident family.
I should be seeing a friend this afternoon but I have a vet appointment for Molly.
I hope everyone has a decent day and stays cool and hydrated.

GrannyGravy13 Wed 27-May-26 07:11:27

Good morning from a glorious S E Essex.

I think it’s about time to change to the lightweight summer duvet 🌞 After bed change I will go to the gym, my body is letting me know it’s a week since I have been. Unusual for me, but circumstances and the Bank Holiday have got in my way 🤷‍♀️

This afternoon I really must crack on and do some ironing, including bedding!

Hope you manage to get the engage consult Marydoll if not , maybe time to ring 111.

(((Hugs))) to all in need 🙋‍♀️

Ashcombe Wed 27-May-26 07:10:34

We giggled at your ironing comment, Greyduster! 😂

Good morning from South Lanarkshire where it feels a little cooler.

We had a a glorious walk around the grounds of Dumfries House yesterday. We had left daft dug at home because of the heat and planned to take a tour of the house but alas it wasn’t to be as there was a wedding taking place. However, one of the gardeners told us about an area of woodland in the grounds that we had never been to before so we went off exploring. We found a crucifix he had spoken of, it was a very moving sight, put there in memory of one of the previous owners.

DH is out today so whatever I do will be weather dependent. Perhaps reading in the garden, perhaps ironing, probably not much of anything to be honest.

Wishing everyone the best day possible.

Gagagran Wed 27-May-26 07:06:54

Good Morning all from a thankfully bit cooler central south coast. It was tropical again yesterday but started to ease off late evening.

DH and his cycling chums are off on the train to join the South Downs Link cycle path (a former railway line) to end in Shoreham. The link is North to South Downs. If they are too hot they will then get the train back home. There will be coffee and cake and lunch stops en route.

I have a couple of deliveries due today and the cleaners will be here in half an hour. This evening is the choir concert timed run through so hope the heat doesn't come back full blast or there will be absentees.

Fingers crossed you get an urgent appointment for your DH MD. You have enough to cope with your own health issues and this now isn't helping at all. Wishing you both a better day. flowers

Our no2 DGD is climbing Snowden today and will be in my thoughts until I know she is back down safely! Meanwhile her sister, DGD3, has started her finals at Durham University. Her three years there have just flown by. They have always been a joy to us, and still are.

Kind thoughts of all our strugglers with hopes of some ease and comfort for all.

Ashcombe Wed 27-May-26 07:06:39

Good morning from a sunny Sarthe.

We are enjoying TIB and some fresh air with both windows open (front and back facing) which is proving confusing for the cat! He has been in and out three times so far!

I hope your wound heals well, RosesandLilac. Do you have to rest it? Take good care.

I hope you manage to get some advice about your DH today, Marydoll. It must be a worry for you both.

Yesterday I finally felt inspired to finish the ironing, some of which I’d brought from home, I’m ashamed to admit! I tend to have more time to myself here but have lacked the inclination! In my teaching days, I would regularly complete ironing before breakfast but that was in the days of three offspring requiring school shirts or blouses.

Happy hump day! 🦩💐🦩🥰🦩

Ladyleftfieldlover Wed 27-May-26 07:02:17

Morning all from West Oxfordshire.

MaryD, I love that statue!

After thinking yesterday was going to be a quiet, stay at home sort of day, a friend invited me and others to tea. OH stayed at home working on something for one of his bee hives. Anyway, I offered to take a cake and it turned out to be the only item of food! Fortunately it turned out fine as it was a new recipe and very tasty. A three-layer mocha cake with chocolate frosting. It was good to sit outside in the sun and listen to thunder rumbling. It rained when I got home, but not much.

I have various bits of admin to do today, plus a pile of ironing. OH may visit his bees - or cut the lawn.

Have a good day today. I think the temperature will drop below 30, which is good news. I noticed it was 35 yesterday in Kew where elder son and his family live.

ginny Wed 27-May-26 07:02:03

Good morning. I think it will be cooler here today.
The two boys ( 5 & 10) have been lovely. Taking interest in the places we have been , asking questions and then enjoying running around and playing games. The younger was telling me very seriously how the sun works and why I should use an umbrella .
Today we are going to the Jorvik centre and then we have a mystery hunt around York.
Wishing all a good day.

Greyduster Wed 27-May-26 06:55:44

Good morning Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire where the sun is shining but it’s much cooler and breezier. Late yesterday afternoon we had thunder and torrential rain which was very welcome.

After tea, I had a walk along the lanes, did a detour to the supermarket and came out with a new iron. The last one has given up. I don’t wear irons out, they just die of boredom from too little use! I shall take the new one for a test drive this morning.

Writers group this afternoon, after which I shall come home and attack the last of the weeds in the top bed and perhaps cut the front lawn.

Have the best day you can, folks.

A photo of my 'orchard.'
The sign was a birthday gift from my daughter. ♥️

Marydoll Wed 27-May-26 06:35:54

Good morning all, it was unusually hot here in Glasgow, yesterday.

I am up early to try and do an engage consult for DH.
He had another dizzy episode in the garden yesterday, wish me luck, the slots are full by 8 am.
For once he has listened and has kept a record and handed me three sheets of typed up BP readings, which I have scanned.
He isn't feeling too good this morning, so I'm a tad anxious.

We just pottered in the garden yesterday, apart from me having to drag myself out pick up prescriptions,
The pharmacist, thankfully, took on board, what I said about my CD patches falling off I found one inside a bra in my underwear drawer 🤭 and reverted back to my usual ones.
There is so much to do in the garden, because both of us have been unwell.

Thank you all for your good wishes and caring PMs, it has meant so much to me. ♥️

Enjoy your day, whatever your plans.

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 12° and cloudy. Rosesandlilacs that sounds very painful. Look after yourself. GrandMattie I hope you are given proper information about the painting today.
Yesterday was a nice day. Dgs2 was up when I went to their house and was getting a row from dsil for shouting at the top of the stairs because his brother was still sleeping. He wasn't overly worried by it. 😂 Dgs1 eventually woke up and was quite emotional with some tears because he missed mummy and daddy. It's not like him and I think he was tired. He was very happy to tell me he was going to have a baby cousin. I dropped them at school/nursery then came home for a while and rested. Later, I drove to the park where the nursery had walked to and met up with them. Dgs2 was delighted to see me. We went to the playground bit and he had an ice cream on the way, courtesy of the nursery. At that point, my feet had had enough so I left him in the care of his nursery teacher. I put my feet up until it was time to collect them both. Dgs1 said he had a brilliant day because the jannie had soaked him twice with the hose. Simple pleasures indeed. After I took them home home, I went to bed early because my feet were so painful and slept well(for me).
Today I'm visiting my best friend's partner for a coffee and chat. Then home. The weeds have reached triffid like proportions and I will have to tackle them. Dinner will be roast gammon with cauliflower cheese and green beans. Enjoy your day all

luluaugust Wed 27-May-26 06:26:43

Good morning from a misty W Kent. DD2 is coming over for lunch today. We were supposed to have going out but various problems with cars and builders have made that difficult. We shall have lunch in the garden if possible
Heard yesterday that DGS2 is bringing his future wife to meet us all soon, poor girl! DH and I have met her once but nobody else has.
Best wishes

Melanie61 Wed 27-May-26 06:07:29

Good morning from Sheffield
I have to tackle the pile of ironing today otherwise I won’t have anything to wear. Fortunately we have air-conditioning in our bedroom so I am in there.
We have a man coming today to jet wash the paths and drive. DH could do it as we have a jet washer, but he always misses bits (don’t tell him )
He will supervise that while I work this afternoon
Take care everyoneflowers

Good morning from Malta where a sunny day is forecast with a high of 31°C.

Yesterday I went to Lidl and Eurospin, bought a couple more geraniums which were less than €2 each. I hope I won’t kill them as they look so pretty. My little front terrace is looking colourful for now.

The boys came after school, both slept on the sofa for a while then woke up and were their usual sweet selves.

DD3 whisked DGS2 away for a haircut so I had the company of his brother which was lovely. He’s a dear little boy and I enjoyed having him on his own as he loves to be read to which isn’t always easy when his brother is around!

I have ironing to do this morning, plus some cleaning. I will walk to the village for a couple of things plus I need the exercise.

Heard from my niece that baby number 3 will be a girl. She already has a boy and a girl. I hope to be able to visit at some point, I adore babies.

Glad your procedure went well RosesandLilac, sounds painful though. Your poor DH getting soaked, but worth it by the sound of it! I do miss British fish and chips.

As to the heat, I suppose I’m used to it after 45 years living in a hot climate. I love it but must admit I’d be happy if it stayed like this and didn’t get as hot as it does in July/August. I still prefer it to being cold though.😎

Wishing you all a good day with thoughts to all who are struggling.☀️

RosesandLilac Wed 27-May-26 05:23:14

Good morning, it’s pleasant temperature here on the hillside in south Glos, I fervently hope it isn’t as hot as yesterday today.
I went into town early for my opticians appointment, all’s well apart from the cataract in my left eye which will need removal in the next year or so.
It was so hot by the time I got home, the house wasn’t too bad thankfully.
Then mid afternoon DH took me to the hospital for the excision of a lesion on my leg. Very quick and painless and I have 10 stitches to be removed in 10 days, there’s a big dressing and I have written instructions on what to do, including redressing it every day from tomorrow. I need to get some dressings today.
Early evening we had a thunderstorm which was very welcome, it poured down for an hour, just as DH went along the road to the fish and chips van. He was completely drenched! They do the best fish and chips I have ever had; they come every week but it’s an occasional treat for us.
I hope you’re all managing in this heat, it’s not easy is it?
Take care x
🌹

Good morning from a dry, bright Bristol, where the temperature is very tolerable.
Yesterday was empty. I saw no one, did nothing, just pottered.
Today, I’ve got FAB cafe. I suspect people will come for the coolness in the church..
In the afternoon, we are meeting with our manager for a “progress report”. The outside painting is still going to start “on Monday”. This has been since the end of last month. Reminds me of the Mad Hatter’s tea party where there is always “jam tomorrow “!
May you have a good day, and enjoy the heat… 🍦🍨

Good Morning Everyone,
Its light with a clear sky so no doubt another hot day here in Brackley .
I hope it cools down soon ,as going out to Bicester on the bus is not enjoyable with the heat .
Health OK,
