Oh dear .....

I'm another who saw this on the news yesterday evening.
What a wonderful place. The added bonus being, the patients have all the equipment to hand. It's a fully equipped outdoor ICU.
All paid for by donations too.
As someone up thread mentioned, the TB sanatoriums all had outdoor areas for patients. My late husband spent many years as a child and young adult in a sanitortium when he had TB. He remembers waking up with snow on his bed.

Lovely. Our local big big hospital has a "Secret Garden" opened in 2023 with similar facilities, and there is a second one for patients with spinal injuries.

(It's one of the reasons I watch "Look North" after the main BBC News. It's different regionally of course They always have good news stories like this and also stories of bravery or community positive actions ☺️, and we need more news like that).

It will make a huge difference to the patients

I found a lovely area at the hospital where my son is receiving chemo. Never noticed it before as it’s tucked away but on Monday I wandered in and there’s a big pond full of koi carp and goldfish with a fountain and a big metal sculpture.

Plenty of seats around and some shade from young trees. There were loads of patients in wheelchairs sitting around who family members had brought from wards. There was also a chained prisoner with two officers either side and he kept his face turned up to the sun. We all need fresh air and sunshine.

Anything that allows patient s to get out into the sun is good. 15mins no sun screen is all it takes to flood the body with Vit D which supports the immune system. Remember all those photos of tb and polio patients outside in the sun convalescing in the 20s and 30s?

I saw this too. The first person to be taken out there from the unit was overwhelmed by the beauty of it all and and the experience of being outside.

Gardens, fresh air, the sky and warm sunshine - wonderful, especially when seriously ill and having been inside for so long.
