We were once in a town where it hadn’t rained for years. It started to rain whilst we were there and everyone rushed outside the pub to watch it. Some little ones had never seen it in their lives. Outback South Australia.
When I was teaching English in desert-climate Oman, the whole class (nearly all young adult males) charged outside during a rare February rain shower, and danced in it! They called the rain ‘God’s bounty’.
Much the same, young dds living for most of the year in Oman, were very excited to play out in the rain when we were back in the UK for the summer hols.
