It feels odd to have a kitchen without our founder.

We shall carry on as she would have wished.

Supporting each other and sharing our ups and downs 😘🥂🫖☕️🍰

jaxjacky well done to Imogen!

fgt I bet it’s noisy in your apartment block now!

Night night all.

Jaxjacky Tue 14-Jul-26 21:22:22

I’d love to be on your balcony FGT

Jaxjacky Tue 14-Jul-26 20:53:38

Thanks brook she’s chuffed.

Usedtobeblonde Tue 14-Jul-26 20:53:07

I told you that the friend I was out with yesterday was the only witness to my embarrassment, well I have just come off the phone with a mutual friend who knew about it.
I knew my “friend “ perhaps former friend had a big mouth but really, not one day went by.

brook2704 Tue 14-Jul-26 20:51:20

Great news for Imogen Jax so pleased for her !

Jaxjacky Tue 14-Jul-26 20:48:51

Imogen just sent a msg, she has a supermarket job for the summer 👏👏.

brook2704 Tue 14-Jul-26 20:31:03

Lovely news for your granddaughter and partner uttb I hope all goes well for them, you’ll miss her of course
Sounds like such a good atmosphere fgt, hope it’s a good result and the locals are happy, safe travels home tomorrow
I’ve enjoyed today, a lovely catch up with a pal this morning then pampering at the hairdressers this afternoon. When I got home there was a message about the 2 old sofas I’ve got up for sale, managed to sell one to a local couple so just the other one to go now 🤞

Jaxjacky Tue 14-Jul-26 19:41:47

Hi all, how lovely utbb their new adventure! I do hope you feel better soon.
Back to heat today, all jobs finished early, some admin and phone calls later.
MrJ is at bowls, I'm ready for the game ⚽️

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Tue 14-Jul-26 19:39:47

Ah I’m sat on the balcony. Half hour to kick off and the Spanish are organising a huge set up. Tables pulled together in a huge line, must be 30 chairs and someone is rigging up a gigantic tv to run off the electric from the old garden bar (which isn’t opening this season for various reasons). Excited Spanish boys are already chanting it looks great fun down there. Both pools are completely empty what a surprise! This is serious stuff. National pride is at stake! So many Spanish flags fluttering from our balconies I’ve lost count! 🇪🇸

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Tue 14-Jul-26 19:01:22

LWW was very enjoyable as always. Big hugs all round on leaving but I told them my flight back is booked for 19th August when I’ll be joining the Boy Wonder, L’il Miss and their parents on their annual holiday here. No room for me with them (such a small apartment) so I’m going to stay in my friends apartment and they will use mine for a week at Christmas for their son and grandson. A nice reciprocal arrangement that suits us all.

No I didn’t call in at the boutique Redcar 😇
To be honest I’ve spent a lot this holiday one way and another!

I’ve just eaten downstairs before the Spain -v- France ⚽️ game. Kick off here 9pm. If Spain score (and especially if they win) I’ll hear the shouts and the hooters from up here!

Sorry to hear you’re still nauseous uttb. I had a stomach bug when I arrived here it knocks you off kilter doesn’t it and feeling sick pervades everything until it passes. I hope you managed your plain baked potato okay.

Time now to have a read … 📕
It’s SO hot out there even now - it’s just like August the locals are saying.

Redcar Tue 14-Jul-26 18:00:38

utbb how exciting for your Dgd and her BF! I hope you will soon be feeling better, and that the washing machine can be repaired.
I’ve done very little today, went to the garden centre and found a nice birthday card for dgd3 who will be 8 early in August.
Then walked to the pharmacy for some waterproof dressings for my damaged arm.
I came home to find a letter from HMRC regarding my godmother’s estate. More information is required, but fortunately not something I can deal with, the other executor will sort it out. I do need to find some specific photos, so will go through all my boxes this evening.
I saw my dementia friend this afternoon, her DH had put a fan on, but not opened the patio door, so it was very hot in the room. She was very quiet all afternoon. I’m at home, sitting in front of the open door, trying to cool down before thinking about dinner.
fgt I hope you visited the boutique after you’d met up with your LWW!

Enjoy the evening everyone.

I am now feeling very nauseous all the time,I think I have a stomach bug.
My washing machine has leaked like a sieve today.
My S was home so he kindly mopped up for me and pulled the machine out but the hose was firmly attached as was the outlet so it probably means a new one.
I have received some good service today from a local building society.
I have been a member for many years but now just have a small ISA with them.
On reaching a good age on Sunday I have decided to simplify my affairs for my family.
I rang the Society today , they only open our local branch a few hours a week and asked about closing the account.
Apparently it is too much to close over the telephone so they are sending a member of staff out to my home on Thursday morning who will do the paperwork and transfer it to an account of my choice.
I am so impressed that they will do that.
All businesses are not soulless after all.
I am going to attempt a jacket potato with no filling to see how I cope with that.

Grandmabatty Tue 14-Jul-26 16:09:06

Utbb how exciting for your dgd and her partner! You will miss her, I'm sure.
Today I have ironed, made a pot of chilli in the slow cooker, cleaned all the windows and mirrors, made a gooseberry fool, hoovered and weeded the front garden three times. There's still more to pull out but I'm done for the day. I also nipped to dds to check for mail. Dinner will be chilli and then gooseberry fool. I'm glad that I can see a difference in the garden, although there's lots to pull out still. Have a good evening kitchen folk

GrannyGravy13 Tue 14-Jul-26 15:39:16

That’s such good news usedtobeblonde your GD must be so excited.

Bittersweet for you, as I expect you will really miss her 😿

It’s 28° here with an occasional strong breeze. I haven’t been in the garden today, just lazing indoors and spending far too much time on GN 😹

gillgran Tue 14-Jul-26 15:34:08

Good news for your family/household Utbb.
I hope you are feeling a little better now.

Lovely to see you back Blossoming.

Weather wise, the cloudy morning here in Cambs., has made for a more comfortable day. ( I'm still saying 20 is plenty!!)

Warm thoughts for you all. x

Usedtobeblonde Tue 14-Jul-26 10:20:24

Much excitement here today, my GD and her BF/partner are on the last stage of their house purchase journey.
They should complete on July 2Oth..
They are beyond excited

Grandmabatty Tue 14-Jul-26 00:40:41

Charleygirl 😂

The T never rose above 29C in my part of London and there was a cooling breeze. A perfectly normal summer's day. Washed clothes again but did zilch else.

grandmabatty it is an easy trip from Edinburgh to London. A change of work place would do you the world of good. i don't know where you would start. I do have a cleaner but "file" and "work" are 4 letter words here.

Lovely to hear from you Blossoming.

Mumski* believe it or not I am using my mother’s towels but I agree, a Dogs Trust would love what I have here.

Only Amazon, my corner shop is delivering tomorrow. Unfortunately it will be hotter.

cornergran Mon 13-Jul-26 22:53:37

That was a nice surprise blossoming, it’s good to see you.

Oh heck utbb, hope all is settled tomorrow. Enough now!

I’ve had a thoroughly enjoyable day. Headed along the coast to a favourite pier where it felt as if we were going to be blown home again. There was a sheltered spot to sit in the sun with a coffee, the walk back to the car certainly cleared heads.

The only disappointment was to find a shop I had wanted to investigate doesn't open on a Monday. Oh well, it means we’ll have to go back another day. 😂. A garden centre to buy a bird bath followed by an impromptu lunch at our favourite cafe and it was home to a restful afternoon with time to call a friend and arrange to go and see her. A decent day for sure.

Night night everyone. Sleep tight.

brook2704 Mon 13-Jul-26 22:29:32

Lovely to see you back Blossoming and even better to hear you’re feeling so well ❤️

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Mon 13-Jul-26 22:08:57

LLFL 16 or a 6 - an easy mistake to make!
I remember years ago (many) going UP into a 14 and being a bit horrified. Silly me looking back, I cut the labels out so Himself didn’t twig he was married to a heifer …. 😂

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Mon 13-Jul-26 22:05:34

You’re back Blossoming! Yay! How splendid! It’s great to hear from you again and well done your GP being so tenacious on your behalf.

Good to have a bit of respite heat-wise Maw helps to recalibrate and realise ‘we can cope’!

Redcar Mon 13-Jul-26 21:50:34

Good to see you again blossoming, I hope you continue to improve and enjoy your walks!

utbb a birthday celebration to forget! I hope you soon feel better and able to enjoy your food again.

A lovely breeze here today, I met a friend for coffee at our local RHS garden, it was still cloudy there and distinctly chilly. The cloud went when I got home and it’s been a warm afternoon although the breeze has been welcome.

When I got home I repotted a tomato plant and was sweeping up the spilt compost when I caught my arm on the wooden trough. Another tear, more tcp and I’ve put a dressing on it. I’ll need some showerproof dressings tomorrow. I should really wear long sleeved tops when I’m outside, my skin is so fragile - something else I inherited from my dad!

llfl well done for finishing your collage and enjoy the patchwork.

Ladyleftfieldlover Mon 13-Jul-26 21:22:06

Hello kitchen people and especially Blossoming!

I like those dresses FGT2, although I would need a small sleeve! Talking about dresses I click and collected a White Stuff dress today. When I got it home I realised it was size 6 and not 16! I am returning it tomorrow and getting the correct size.

Our cleaner couldn’t come as her daughter is unwell. I did a Waitrose shop and bought some hydrocortisone cream for the dreaded heat rash.

After lunch I went to my over the road neighbour for our monthly Craft Group, I finally finished the enormous collage I’ve been working on. Patchwork next - I haven’t done any for years.

My Royal Academy print arrived today. It is tiny. Probably a good thing as I’m running out of walls.

Have a good evening and sleep 💤 tight.

Usedtobeblonde Mon 13-Jul-26 21:04:34

Welcome back Blossoming you have been missed.
I hope your improved health continues.
You are very stoic.
I am feeling meh.
It is not like me to experience gastric problems thank goodness.
It could have been a lot worse than it was and it was bad enough.
I am going to worry now about leaving the house.😟
