It feels odd to have a kitchen without our founder.

We shall carry on as she would have wished.

Supporting each other and sharing our ups and downs 😘🥂🫖☕️🍰

What a lovely day it has been here!
Distinctly cool this morning (my bedroom is. N facing) but even when the sun came out there was a definite breeze and I felt human at last!
Rosie enjoyed a walk, I hoovered through, did and dried two loads of washing, arranged for an engineer to come out tomorrow to look at my erratic boiler, finished a book ,saw a friend and actually felt like eating (chicken kebabs with roasted vegetables) and now I’m enjoying University Challenge. The temp didn’t get above 25C which was ideal.
Won’t last and I fear more melted blob days lie ahead but it reassured me that I might actually survive this summer.
I was beginning to wish the DDs had settled on somewhere like Shetland or Benbecula instead of the Dordogne for the big family holiday in August!

GrandmaC47 Mon 13-Jul-26 19:46:45

👋Blossoming good to see you again. I’ve missed your pictures of the water and Lytham. Hope you continue improving

Good evening dear Kitcheners! The last few months have been horrendous for me thanks to yet another autoimmune disease that left me sleepless, weak and in pain. Even clothing hurt my skin. Fortunately thanks to my absolute gem of a lady GP who badgered dermatology and refused to take no for an answer I am well on the road to recovery. I was beginning to wonder what else fate had in store for me, but I”m definitely not beaten yet. I’m enjoying the hot weather, being careful, wearing my sunhat and keeping hydrated. I’m managing to get out for a walk most days now.

I’m happy to read you are in Malaga FGT and I love those dresses. I always check for pockets when I buy a new dress now.

Here is a pic of the Dock looking lovely in the sunshine. The sky is a glorious blue. I love it in all weathers really, rain or shine.

TOYA xx

Jaxjacky Mon 13-Jul-26 19:06:28

Oh dear utbb that sounds awful, take the advice keep hydrated, I hope it soon passes.
The gym and friends aren’t going anywhere GG13 looking after you as you’ve been told to do is the priority.
A quiet day on the voluntary phones, we have a new online system, seems to work well, but I started with trepidation.
I think we’re losing the lovely breeze tomorrow, it’s made a difference on another hot day.
Monday quizzes are back on BBC2 🙂

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Mon 13-Jul-26 18:21:10

GG13 boredom is preferable to a hospital admission so think on now. Do Nothing for a few days.

Enjoy FGT2

Grandmabatty sounds like your little ones are living their best life

Not much going on here today, I did manage to iron a few bits, but I was surprised how tired I was afterwards.

I am rather frustrated as I do not ill also really missing the gym and my pals.

Never mind this too shall pass 🙋‍♀️

brook2704 Mon 13-Jul-26 17:43:16

Oh uttb 💐

brook2704 Mon 13-Jul-26 17:42:32

Hi kitchen pals another gorgeous sunny day here
Well done to your DGS grandmabatty sounds like they’re all having such a good holiday 😎
I’ve been quite busy today - sorry fgt, I’ve not learnt the lazygran technique yet! Anyway I’m in now for a rest before going out line dancing later, it’s good fun with friendly people and I enjoy it
I’m another one with stuff in the garage from DD2 - now and again I ask if she wants it back but it falls on deaf ears! 🤷‍♀️

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Mon 13-Jul-26 17:13:25

Oh uttb!
It never rains but it pours right now for you 😮
Hope your tum settles soon.

I’m down on the marina (again, live it here!) for my penultimate evening
.
Took these pics on my stroll down at 5pm
There’s a lovely soft breeze very welcome!

Usedtobeblonde Mon 13-Jul-26 16:34:58

I have been out for lunch with a friend.
It didn’t end well.
Suffice to say I had a very upset stomach very suddenly .
I am lying on my bed and I don’t want to see food for several days.

Grandmabatty Mon 13-Jul-26 15:14:23

FGT He's a funny mix of caution and derring do! Dgs1 is a no holds barred boy who leaps into everything without thinking. I've had some lovely photos from the family and it's good see dd enjoying life and looking happy and rested. She and dsil work so hard.
I've polished, hoovered and mopped all the floors, so I'm having a cuppa and a biscuit. I might do some more weeding or maybe not! Today is the first day for a while that I've felt more energetic. Enjoy watching your very naughty boy Fgt 😂

mumski Mon 13-Jul-26 13:54:24

Charleygirl5

utbb not quite the birthday meal you usually have, but hopefully you can go out and dine when it is cooler.

Many years ago, after I moved here, I decided I was no longer paying to have the valuable items (junk) stored in lofts and spend a fortune moving it. My loft is totally empty. The "stuff" is in a double bedroom, and slowly I am wading my way through it.

I still have heaps of my mother's towels, still in good order and she died in 1979!

Charleygirl5 if you want to get rid of all your towels to a good cause. My DD works for Dogs Trust and they can always make use of towels for the dogs. Also any other dog charities.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Mon 13-Jul-26 13:35:45

Nope. Never seen him before Beechnut.

Beechnut Mon 13-Jul-26 13:23:41

Did you ever notice him before he became ‘anklet man’ fgt?
I like the name you’ve given him.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Mon 13-Jul-26 13:17:53

Just had my lunch.
At these prices eating out is very doable.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Mon 13-Jul-26 13:16:55

Oh the anklet! For a minute there I thought you meant coming down a big slide! 😁

Jaxjacky Mon 13-Jul-26 13:14:39

To some it’s a badge of honour FGT.
More washing out, the only plus is the drying time recently.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Mon 13-Jul-26 13:13:15

Oh that’s such a splendid holiday memory Grandmabatty! Thanks for sharing about your now fearless wee boy who will be so proud of himself!

Grandmabatty Mon 13-Jul-26 12:12:35

Weeding has commenced! I've been out twice this morning. Im concentrating on the front. "Fur coat and no knickers," my gran would have said. It's warm but breezy and I can live with that. In now, for a rest before lunch. I've emptied the dishwasher, cleaned it and loaded it again. After lunch I will hoover then mop the floors.
Dd has sent videos of the boys going down water slides. Dgs2 wouldn't go down the baby slide at the start of their holiday, now he's going down the slide for 6-12 year old. It looks like they are all having a great time

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Mon 13-Jul-26 11:57:11

I’m having my juice downstairs and the ‘anklet man’ is having a beer. He has his back to me today! He’s wearing shorts again I suppose it’d look odd if he wore jeans in this heat but still … 😮
